HMD Global plans to port Android 9 Pie to three existing Nokia smartphones this month. According to AndroidCentral, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 6.1, and Nokia 6.1 Plus would receive the new Google OS version by the end of October, while Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco would update to Android 9 Pie by the end of November.
The fact of offering handsets powered by Android One, clearly allows Nokia to get ahead of its competitors in updating their systems to the new Android 9 Pie. And indeed, thanks to the use of this platform, which provides a pure Android experience, HMD Global can deploy updates faster than other manufacturers. As an example, the Nokia 7 Plus received the stable version of Android 9 Pie last week. Owners of that model can already take advantage of the improvements brought by the new version of Google’s OS for mobiles.
And it seems that the Chinese manufacturer wants to update three other handsets to the new Android 9 Pie. These would be Nokia 6.1, 6.1 Plus, and Nokia 7.1. Accordingly, the before-mentioned devices would receive the latest OS update by the end of October.
Android 9 Pie to reach Nokia 7.1, Nokia 6.1, and Nokia 6.1 Plus soon
Nokia 7.1 is a relatively new product which launched with Android 8.1 Oreo. However, it will soon receive Android 9 Pie update, which is excellent news for the device’s owners. Once again, HMD Global is very responsive in updating their terminals to new Android versions, compared with the other manufacturers are slow to deploy new upgrades.
Additionally, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 7.1 will not be the only ones to benefit from the new version of Android shortly. According to AndroidCentral, the Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco will also get Android 9 Pie in November.
That being said, the list of Nokia smartphones to get Android 9 Pie will include at least six devices by the end of next month. For the moment, we don’t have any indication yet about the OS porting to other models. So far, we only know that Nokia 7.1, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 8, and Nokia 8 Sirocco would receive Android 9 Pie.
