There are numerous cases when you get a lengthy voice message and wish to go through it a little faster.
Thankfully, WhatsApp possibly got you covered.
The app is reportedly trying out numerous playback speeds on Android and iOS, WABetaInfo reported.
The outlet reported the modification in a new update in Apple’s TestFlight beta program and the Google Play beta program in recent days.
As for WABetaInfo, there will be a total of three playback speeds available on iOS and Android: 2.0X, 1.5X, and the default speed that we are used to.
The feature is still under development, and it isn’t yet available for the general public.
In the report regarding the Android version, the outlet claimed that users would be able to modify a voice message’s playback speed by tapping a speed label. Here are some screenshots of the feature at work:
Yesterday @WABetaInfo has announced that @WhatsApp was working on 3 different playback speeds for voice messages, on WhatsApp for Android.
Today the same screenshots are taken from WhatsApp for iOS.

As is the case with other updates, it isn’t yet clear if this one will be introduced to the mainstream, as there is no set release date.
Still, we wish that the feature will make it into WhatsApp. We all know the struggle of receiving a 10-minute long voice message and having to go through it slowly. Speeding things up by a factor of 1.5 would help us learn all of the messages faster and save some time.
