BlackBerry Key 2 vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 9 – Durability and Productivity Comparison

Productivity is Samsung Galaxy Note 9’s primary goal. From its S Pen which is enabled by Bluetooth to the DeX Mode recently integrated, this phone makes you work harder. Can it be compared to the new BlackBerry Key2? Let’s see!

Charging, performance, and battery life

Both the Samsung and the BlackBerry will get you through an entire day no matter how demanding you are. Despite the Key2 having a 500mAh smaller battery than Note’s 4,000mAh one, it still got some excellent stamina because it is also smaller and has a less powerful processor. They charge pretty fast as well giving you 3-4 hours of battery even though it charged only for 15 minutes. The advantage Note 9 has over its rival is its wireless charging.

This round’s winner is Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

Durability and design

Everything is more evident when it comes to durability. Note 9 is made all out of glass which does not get along with the floor. However, Key2 got an aluminum body, so it is less likely to break if dropped. The Note 9 has also gained a certificate from IP68 which makes is undestroyable to a drop in the water. On the other side, Key2 is not good at swimming so water might end its life for good.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is again the winner.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 wins

Taking into account the arguments above, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 can be considered the winner. BlackBerry Key2 is not a bad phone because it also has good productivity features but its specs are just not enough to beat Note 9’s DeX mode. If you are in search of a productivity workhorse, you will not go wrong with either of this phones. You can even save some money with the BlackBerry.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Dual Cameras Leaks and Rumors

Honestly, at his point ‘leak’ and ‘marketing’ might intertwine. On its website, Samsung made it known that soon enough you will be able to preorder the Galaxy Note 9. The page simply says ‘Say hello to super power’ and in an age when everyone is obsessed by superheroes it may just be a great piece of copywriting.

Samsung invites us to preorder the Note 9 so that we would be among the first to ‘experience it’. We aren’t sure if this is a leak, as the page still exists but the Note 9 wasn’t even officially announced. It isn’t the first time we go through this with Samsung as it became a habit for this company to have its new products leaked.

From what we gathered by looking at the photo, Note 9 looks similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. It shows a headphone jack, dual cameras in the back, a USB – Charger port and a fingerprint sensor. Unfortunately, the photo shows only the back of the phone, on a blue background, with a yellow stylus on top.

A week ago, Samsung ‘mistakenly’ released a new Galaxy watch device on its site. We don’t know for sure if it was by accident, although the product was removed from the website soon after the media got a hold of this information.

With a day left before launching the Samsung Galaxy S9, another leakage happened. This time, the entire video that displayed the device’s characteristics was released to the public, allowing anyone to find out about the phone’s features. Samsung isn’t the only company that is overly anxious with its marketing.

Apple did something similar before launching the iPhone 7. Just as the event was starting, the company’s Twitter account announced the product, along with providing preorder info which might’ve stole their own thunder.

Leaks Reveal the Date of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Release

Samsung is planning on canceling the production on Samsung Note further on.  Note’s 9 won’t spike up the sales for the Korean company this year. But if you still want to buy the Note 9 you can do it starting August 24.  A poster has been leaked by KT Telecom in Samsung’s home country. KT Telecom accidentally published a promotional poster announcing the date in which Galaxy Note 9 will go on sale. KT Telecom is the largest carrier in South Korea covering more than 50% of the market.

Also, this news doesn’t come free of implication: lunch dates from US and European countries are usually closed to the date in which Samsung launches the new Galaxy Note in South Korea.

Samsung is pushing to launch Galaxy Note earlier this year, since they’ve already confirmed the launch event which will take place August 9th.  A couple of months ago in the second quarter earnings Samsung said there will be “an early introduction of the Galaxy Note”, but refused to give an exact date.

If we look at the bright side, customers can get their hands on the new Galaxy Note 9 faster than expected. Also, Samsung is preparing the ground for Galaxy S10, which will be released as the 10th anniversary model.

These are not the only plans Samsung has prepared for this year, there are other plans much expensive and probably much more exciting.

Galaxy Note 9 cannot deliver the sales figures Samsung needs to cover the costs for Galaxy Note – lack of improvements regarding design, cancellation of key features and of course the high price. Samsung is faithful to its long-time philosophy “bigger is better” offering for the new model multiple sizeable upgrades and of course it comes with the promise that the battery is going to be a game changer.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Seen With A Broken Screen

It was only a matter of time before the first Galaxy Note 9 images appeared online from someone who had access to the phone before the official announcement. Unfortunately, these images are not impressive, showing the phone in a rather… unpleasant state. This seems to confirm many of the rumors so far, but it might suggest that it does not use the new Gorilla Glass 6 as the image unit is photographed with the glass on the screen already broken.

The information that can be extracted from these photos is that the back of the device really underwent the most changes, ie the dual camera system was now positioned above the fingerprint sensor. Otherwise, the phone looks almost identical to Galaxy Note 8 from last year. Being a black unit, which is quite standard, we cannot know what other colors Samsung has prepared, so far only the blue version is present in the images dropped on the internet.

On the front however, the phone has a cracked screen. There are already speculations suggesting that it is a display protection applied over the original one, but by looking at the edges of the phone, they are similar on both sides and there seem to be no cuts to the cameras and sensors on the front. Thus, this situation does not give much confidence in Samsung’s new phone in terms of shock resistance, but we do not even know why it was used before photos.

It is possible that this unit has even been used to test shock resistance, and the cracks are the result of several successive falls. Of course, there is a possibility that the one who got this prototype has dropped it. Unfortunately, for the one who launched the online images, several markers that can drive the unit were visible in the images, even if the IMEI and serial code were hidden. Ironically, the “do not leak info” message on the back is also visible.

The latter might suggest that we are dealing with a false photo, the message being specially added. Until Aug. 9 we will not know for sure whether this is really the final design of Galaxy Note 9 and what kind of glass Samsung uses in its construction. Considering that Gorilla Glass 6 was just been announced, there is little chance that Samsung will get components from Corning so fast. However, being the number one smartphone on the market, there is an opportunity for an understanding between the two companies.

Leaked Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Images Suggest that it Looks Similar to Note 8

A supposedly official render of the future flagship phablet Note 8 has been posted by Android Headlines. Offered by what was deemed as a ‘’highly credible source’’ the render, believed to be official is underwhelming. It features no hints regarding software, so the hope that Samsung will see the light and drop its customizations in favor of stock Android.

It also lacks details in regards to the position of the fingerprint sensor, previously uncomfortably placed on the side of the camera. The design seems to follow The Samsung Galaxy S9, with the Infinity Display as the major focus of the device, and limited bezels on the top and bottom. The power, volume and Bixby buttons maintain the exact position they had on Note 8, the stylus pocket seems harder to notice.

On the hardware side, Note 9 seems to sport no obvious upgrade from its predecessor. The iris scanner, front camera, sensors and earpiece seem to be in the exact same position. Just as the Samsung Galaxy S9 was a disguised S8 with a more advanced camera, Note 9 seems to be almost a clone.

Samsung seems to get back to the old habit of releasing 2 or three generations of identical looking devices with modest upgrades. While the camera on the S9 was revolutionary, Huawei upped the ante with the release of the P20 and its three cameras. The P20 also features a 24 MP camera in comparison to the meager 8 MP used by the competition.

While only rumors circulate for now, it remains to be seen how the flagship phablet will actually look like. Certain modifications are possible and we may even consider the fact the render may have been leaked in order to make the revealed device a surprise.

Samsung plans to reveal the Note 9 on August 9th.
