WhatsApp vs. Telegram – Security is What It’s All About

WhatsApp and Telegram are the “go to” apps when it comes to placing online calls and sending texts. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that these two apps are competing against each other on a daily basis. Despite both apps being centered towards providing users with all the tools they need to get in touch with their friends and family members, the most important thing that WhatsApp and Telegram have to offer is their high-end security and message encryption systems.

Privacy Over Everything

As previously mentioned, both apps are equipped with cool features such as placing audio calls and videos calls, but the security that they offer is what really matters. This past couple of months have been filled with privacy controversy because massive social media platforms such as Facebook have been reported to create “user profiles” and sell the data to the highest bidder.

Therefore, privacy is important and the two online messaging apps are renowned for putting all their focus on this. With that being said, let’s check out which app features the best user security and message encryption system.

Telegram is Confident

The first thing we need to mention about Telegram is that the developers who are in charge of this apps are super confident in their message encryption system. In fact, Telegram creates crypto contests where it challenges hackers to intercept encrypted messages and rewards them with Bitcoin. Luckily, there hasn’t been one person to win one of these contents.

WhatsApp End-to-End Encryption

Just like Telegram, WhatsApp also uses an end-to-end encryption system. The best thing about this system is that it applies to the app’s large 256-person group chats as well. Although, WhatsApp has the upper hand because it also offers features such as self-destroying messages which disappear after the recipient has read them. With that said, both apps offer premium security, but WhatsApp takes the cake with its more innovative features.
