Top Google Earth VR Alternatives to Explore the World with

Like it or not, VR technology is taking over the world. It all started a few years ago when Oculus Rift unveiled its first headset, but now companies such as Samsung, HTC and Google are also launching VR headsets which provide people with immersive experience. Seeing how the VR market is booming, software companies wanted to get a piece of the cake and started creating VR versions of their apps and Google Earth VR is a great example of that.

Google Earth VR

If you ever wanted to explore the world and get a feel for how it would be to fly to every country’s capital city like a superhero from Marvel movie does, then Google Earth VR is the app for you. However, this doesn’t mean that VR fans are limited to Google Earth VR since there are a bunch of excellent alternatives.

YouTube VR

YouTube holds the title of being the biggest video streaming platform in the world. The best thing about YouTube is the fact that all the content is user-based which means that thousands of new videos are being uploaded daily. Therefore, YouTube VR users will never run out of fresh content to watch.

Nomad List VR

As previously mentioned, Google Earth VR allows users to travel the world in a VR mode. However, Nomad List VR is an app that’s been specially developed with the sole purpose of exploring new cities while wearing a VR headset. Nomad List VR features more than 100 cities which can be explored to the last detail via Google Cardboard, HTC Vive or Gear VR.

Polaris

Unlike Google Earth VR and Nomad List VR who focus on exploring, Polaris tries to teach people something about the world. People who decide to give Polaris a try will be able to explore a 3D model of Earth while getting information about stuff like climate change, employment rate in cities, forest loss and many more interesting statistics.
