Google Plans To Launch A Google Play Store Loyalty Program Worldwide

Those of you who are used to playing on video game consoles, are also used to services like Xbox Live Rewards, a system that rewards you with real money to redeem for games and Microsoft console accessories. Now it looks like something similar is about to come on the Android app store. We talk about an upcoming Google Play Store loyalty program that rewards users with points which can be used to buy stuff from the app store.

Google to implement a Google Play Store loyalty program

If you’re one of the millions of users who frequently spend money on the Android apps store, Google has a loyalty program in place to thank you for your time and investments. As hinted by the code lines in the Google Play Store versions 11.5 and 11.6, Google plans to offer the so-called Play Points to customers so that they can earn rewards.

The future Google Play Points suggest that users will earn points with each purchase they make in the Google’s apps store. These points, as well as other rewards, can be spent on special items in a particular application or redeemed as credits to buy new games and apps for Android.

An example of the Google Play Store loyalty service already runs in Japan

Since there’s nothing official on this, we don’t know how the upcoming Google Play Store loyalty system will work or how exactly will the users be able to accumulate these “Google Play Points.”

However, if we take the Japanese version of the Google Play Store which already has a loyalty program implemented, then the points would be rewarded when spends money on the apps store. For now, the Japanese Google Play Store gives 1 point for every 100 Yen users spends in the store.

At the moment we don’t know when Google could launch these Play Points, but with multiple references to this new Google Play Store loyalty program buried inside the Play Store’s code lines, it seems that we won’t have to wait too long for this service to go live.
