PlayStation 4 is closing to the end of its life cycle as more and more news emerged about PlayStation 5 which would roll out between 2020 and 2021. However, Sony is far from ditching its current-gen console, so it released PlayStation system update 6.20 which comes with performance improvements.

As PlayStation 5 is shaping up, at least according to recent leaks and rumors, PlayStation 4 is getting closer to the end of its life cycle. Sony, as usual, at least until PS5 hits the shelves, is frequently updating the PlayStation 4 firmware. Now, Sony released the PlayStation 4 System Update 6.20 which comes with several bug fixes and performance enhancements.

PlayStation 5 Is Already Shaping Up

PlayStation 5 will be the next-gen video games console of Sony. According to some leaks and rumors, PS5 would boast more performant hardware and software, as well.

As recently reported, PlayStation 5 would come out anytime between 2020 and 2021. In the meantime, Sony would announce something significant about the next-gen console in 2019, most likely before the E3 2019 at which the Japanese company would not attend.

PlayStation 4 System Update 6.20 Came Out With Performance Improvements

Sony released a new PlayStation 4 system update 6.20 in various regions and clocks. The update weighs 426 MB which is more than the regular minor updates Sony releases for PS4.

The new system update 6.20 for PlayStation 4 is focusing on system performance more than on stability issues like the other patches the Japanese entertainment company released before for its current-gen video games console.

According to the PlayStation 4 System Update 6.20 release notes, “main features in version 6.20 update” include system performance improvements. “This system software update improves system performance,” Sony wrote about the 6.20 update.

In short, PlayStation 4 approaches to the end of its life cycle but Sony is far from forgetting about it and is usually releasing system updates for its current-gen console. In the most recent PlayStation 4 System Update 6.20, the Japanese company focused on improving the performance of the system.
