Since 2017, to be precise, Evan Spiegel, the CEO of Snapchat, kept making promises that the much-maligned Snapchat Android app will get a complete rebuild, but that wait feels like an eternity. He proclaimed about two months ago, in February, that before the end of the year the new app would be released, these eliciting feelings of pure euphoria in the app’s fans. However, in the end, the new dawn of Snapchat on Android is finally upon us.
During the Snap Partner Summit 2019 the other day a lot of new features have been announced, and on the heels of the raft of them, Snapchat made an announcement through Twitter that the “new, faster” app is ready to go. The message was completed with an adorable little GIF.

If you have not signed into the app for a long while, because maybe you wanted to wait for this update or Snapchat is not really your thing, but you are still curious to see the changes, when it comes to visuals, the app has not changed much, but maybe it did feel a little snappier than it used to. Some senior Snapchat officials were interviewed by the Android Authority, and they said that it is “an entire rewrite from the ground up” they are making tests of it on a more varied selection of Android devices than before. The app should be lighter and faster in the end and not suffer from the performance issues of its predecessor.
