Cydia App Store Doesn’t Accept Purchases Anymore – Saurik’s Decision

Cydia app store was a huge deal for iPad and iPhone users who wished to see more functionality on their devices, more than Apple officially gives, anyway, in their App store. Many apps would be able to improve the notification handling, replace some built-in apps that, let’s be honest, are totally useless, and clean up junk files.

Some apps from Cydia cost money

There were some jailbreak hacks that were used to improve the experience, from quick shortcuts to the copy and paste functionality – and that happened long before Apple added these features to their operating system. There are some features that are still not allowed, such as being able to lock some apps with your fingerprint. Cydia is also able to enable app piracy. Of course, many of these Cydia apps costs money – not much, and users want to pay for them.

Saurik’s decision

Ever since this whole story is in the picture, Apple has tried to make things better, so that people won’t feel the need to jailbreak their devices, so they’ve included some of the features in their operating systems. But as of now, the founder of the jailbreaking scheme, also known as Saurik, has decided to shut down the ability to accept payments for Cydia. This means that you won’t be able to get new paid apps.

Why did this happen?

This comes as a response from Saurik after there’ve been some reports of a bug in the store’s PayPal payment system, which didn’t really affect many users. In a recent post, he said that people are not able to buy anything anymore, so no one will be at risk again. Risk is a strong word, since the bug did not leak any kind of data. The PayPal accounts were safe.

Next Xbox and PS5 – Predictions, Updates and Changes

Both Sony and Microsoft have been talking about the next generation of their consoles. What we know about how the future of gaming will look like is that there is no much time needed to wait until we are able to see the next Xbox Scarlett and PlayStation 5. The problem is that we do not know the exact date. Some reports suggest that 2019 is the year of their release, some others vote on 2020, but there is no official word to confirm this. There is one brave analyst who claims that the generations we are waiting for will not be like we know them.

According to Mat Piscatella, an NPD analyst, who talked to GamingBolt, the consoles we are waiting for will arrive at us either this year or the next one. Besides that, the model will not be either generational nor traditional. Both manufacturers will get out of their comfort zones.

According to him, even though the differences will be harsh, the companies’ revenue will not go down too much. Somehow he considered that the new things to come would affect the companies just a little bit.

It is not that surprising, is it? When something new arrives on the market, everyone wants to try it so older versions will not be sold as many as when they were new. Both the consoles from Sony and the one from Microsoft are predicted to be compatible with VR systems so who would not be excited for that?

Unfortunately, no concrete information has been released about the launch of either the Xbox or the PlayStation 5, but for sure if that does not happen this year, we should expect it next year. What we know for sure is that both companies are working on creating a better experience for their buyers.

When Is Anonymous Feedback in the Workplace Important?

There’s an ongoing debate about the value of anonymous feedback in the workplace. Some people are against it, saying that it impedes transparency and honesty by allowing employees to hide behind an obscured identity. In other words, some people believe it lets employees off the hook when it comes to standing behind their opinions. Others are for it, believing it improves the quality of feedback companies receive from respondents and allows employees to chip in their two cents without having to fear retribution.

The real answer likely lies somewhere between these two extremes: There are times and places when anonymous feedback in the workplace is important. Here are three examples.

When Identity Could Affect Respondents’ Answers

Imagine you’re in a conference room with other members of your team or department. A manager asks a tough question about a touchy topic. You have an opinion but raising your hand and offering it to the group is downright intimidating. There’s a chance you could offend someone by being truthful, potentially affecting how your colleagues and superiors view you. So, you sit back and wait for someone else to speak up. The problem is that everyone else is doing the same. The end result? Most participants walk away from the meeting feeling some mix of frustration, anxiety or confusion. The organization does not get the candid feedback it needs to improve decision-making. It’s an all-around lose-lose.

This type of situation is exactly what anonymous feedback can help organizations avoid. As one professor notes, “People are scared to tell their bosses what they really think.” This is especially true when the feedback is critical or negative.

Allowing employees to remove their identify from the equation can motivate them to answer honestly. Since they don’t have to worry about facing personal consequences, they can feel empowered to speak up. This is an example of how anonymous feedback can enhance the overall quality of feedback collected.

When “What” Matters More Than “Who”

When you’re soliciting opinions from a large group, it actually convolutes the results to worry about individual answers. If you’re surveying an entire company at an all-hands meeting, imagine how complex it’d be to track hundreds or thousands of answers plus the identities of each participant. Cases like these illustrate how often, the “what” matters more than the “who.” Sometimes crowdsourcing responses is simply a matter of being able to collect a substantial volume of honest answers quickly. The ability to collect anonymous feedback through a tool like Poll Everywhere goes a long way in this regard.

When Honesty Is Paramount for Accuracy

At the end of the day, anonymous feedback removes many of the hurdles standing between employees and their honest opinions. When your organization is making a decision, you need the most accurate information possible from which to work. Giving employees the chance to answer questions anonymously helps make sure you’re not getting any interference from outside factors—like anxiety, shyness or office politics.

Let’s say you’re giving a group of employees a “pop quiz” to check for retention after an important training. You simply want to make sure participants have retained key information; you’re not trying to “call out” anyone for answering incorrectly. Taking identity out of the equation will help you gauge collective retention in a way that doesn’t put employees on the spot. This way, they can focus on group learning rather than individual judgement.

Surveying employees is a great way for management to keep its finger on the pulse of opinion. Honest feedback is important because it drives better decision-making. Anonymous feedback is beneficial in certain situations, like collecting potentially sensitive feedback or polling large groups with a focus on the answers, not the respondents.

Windows 10 October 2018 Update Issue – Soon to be Fixed With New Patch

In case you were thinking about updating to the Windows 10 October 2018 Update, you should take into consideration the fact that you might not be able to listen to uncompressed music the way you used to.

Since Windows 10 was released in 2015, people began to agree with the FLAC encoding because it offers full quality uncompressed music. However, this platform did not receive as much support as the MP3 and the update we received a few months ago does not seem as good as we hoped it would.

When an update arrived in April 2018, users realized that they could not edit meta-data or rate music while along with the upgrade from October 2018 it came a new bug which made existing metadata become truncated. The long track names and other details are being cut off, and would only show full on a PC updated to the April 2018 version.

To make matters worse, when it comes to a playlist both Windows Media Player and Groove refuse to play shorter tracks and skip some minutes of the longer ones.

Microsoft is aware of the issue with it being listed as a Known Issue for Windows 10 October 2018 Update. However, there is a long way until a fix will be found.

Many users are explaining their situation by helping forums.

We know that FLAC is not such a popular format especially since streaming came into the story, but people are wondering why bugs are being introduced along with updates. Hopefully, Microsoft will come with a solution to fix this issue especially if they want as many people as possible to update to the latest version of Windows 10. They need to offer what the users need, and it surely will happen in no time.
