Key Business Considerations for 2019

Last year highlighted that no business – whether great or small – is safe from fluctuations in the economy. Just look at the number of closures that occurred in 2018.

So, how can SMEs and large organisations alike avoid this predicament? What can owners do to guarantee a profitable 2019?

These top business considerations could hold the key to success for this year and beyond.

Seek Out Financial Specialists

An expert in the financial field can help business leaders make the most of their assets from the word go. An expert will also be able to highlight quicker and more cost-effective ways of handling company money, such as prepaid financial services.

In 2019, a year that is predicted to affect the UK economy negatively, the right financial advisor could mean the difference between slump and growth. This is a particularly important consideration for start-ups and smaller agencies.

Boost Online Presence

Whatever their focus, all companies can benefit from having a strong online presence. A decent business website should be clear, subject-specific and engaging. Applying smart SEO practices across an online platform is more likely to maximise google ranking rates. So, it’s worth keeping page content in mind, too.

And luckily, learning tools for this abound on reliable business-specific sources. Given that last year saw non-food sales online rise by 7.5%, website optimisation could increase likelihood of success in 2019 for businesses.

Prioritise Corporate Social Responsibility

A decent business will ensure that all members of staff feel respected, valued and supported in their role. But because of societal norms, fundamental issues like mental health and gender discrimination have been largely ignored in workplaces. Until very recently.

This is mainly down to global movements like the #MeToo campaign – which began in 2017 – and the ramping up of awareness surrounding emotional wellbeing over the past few years. Thanks to these campaigns, there has been a sharp rise in open discussions on these topics in all aspects of society, especially in the corporate world.

Last year, for example, directors of leading organisations like Channel 4 and Royal Mail urged the government to deliver on her promise to prioritise Mental Health support in the UK.

So, time is indeed up for ignoring pressing matters in the workplace. Companies that fail to encourage staff to vocalise their needs could very well languish, this year and beyond.

2018 saw economic shocks, online growth and social movements influence the business world. These changes could very well make for a challenging – but also exciting – 2019. Taking on these considerations for business enhancement, company leaders can look to the year ahead feeling ready to achieve their goals.

Samsung Galaxy S10’s In-Display Fingerprint Sensor Won’t Work With Screen Protectors

According to the latest rumors, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 would disappoint those of you who plan to use the Samsung’s anniversary flagship smartphone with screen protectors to avoid scratching the device’s display. More specifically, Samsung Galaxy S10’s in-display fingerprint sensor won’t work with screen protectors.

While the implementation of an in-display fingerprint sensor in the upcoming Galaxy S10 series was well-received by the Samsung’s fans, now they would have to use that feature without screen protectors because, otherwise, the reader would not work. That’s a minus for users who would not be able to protect their S10 devices from scratches, although Samsung said that the S10’s display is already protected.

“We have tested our cases on real Galaxy S10 phones. The in-display fingerprint does not support screen protector. So our vanguard will have no built-in screen protector,” reported Armadilotek, a cases and screen protectors manufacturer, on Twitter.

Samsung Galaxy S10’s In-Display Fingerprint Sensor Won’t Work With Screen Protectors

If we are to believe Armadilotek folks, who claimed to have tested their screen protectors on real Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphones, then screen protectors are blocking the ultrasonic fingerprint sensors on Galaxy S10 devices. Accordingly, we can use screen protectors only if we are ready to give up using the in-display fingerprint sensor and opt for other lock options.

But it’s too early to start worrying about it. We don’t know which materials Armadilotek tested on Galaxy S10 smartphones. Also, we have no clue on how thick were the screen protectors the company probed. Nonetheless, Samsung itself might launch its own series of screen protectors of Galaxy S10 lineup.

For the moment, be it as it may, as we’ll find out everything we need about this topic and many others on February 20th, 2019, when Samsung is planning to launch its anniversary Galaxy S10 series, along with its folding smartphone, Galaxy F.

Lenovo Motorola Razr “Remake” Would Be a $1,500 Folding Smartphone

According to recent rumors and reports, Lenovo, the owner of the Motorola brand, plans to launch a Motorola Razr “remake” which would be a folding smartphone of $1,500. As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Lenovo has already teamed up with Verizon in the US for the launch of the smartphone, and, if everything goes as planned, Motorola Razr “remake” would roll out in February.

At the moment, as reported by The Wall Street Journal, the Lenovo’s folding smartphone, dubbed as Motorola Razr “remake,” is under testing. Also, the Chinese manufacturer kept this project hidden from the eye of leakers, so no rumors have come out on that device. We know nothing about it, except for what The Wall Street Journal reported about it.

The original Motorola Razr V3 came out in 2004 and sold 130 million units worldwide. It was a thin, flip phone, with 3G and was really successful during its times. The latest Razr version launched in 2005, but it was not as successful as the first one.

Lenovo Motorola Razr “Remake” Would Be a $1,500 Folding Smartphone

Lenovo, the famous Chinese computer manufacturer, bought Motorola brand from Google in 2014. Since then, Lenovo has been launching new smartphones under the brand of Motorola in parallel with its own line of mobile phones, rolled out under the name of Lenovo.

Now, Lenovo, pretty much like HDM Global does with Nokia brand, it trying to revive defunct Motorola lineups. According to The Wall Street Journal, Lenovo plans to launch a Motorola Razr “remake” smartphone which would be a folding smartphone with support for the 5G network. Also, The Wall Street Journal reported that this device would cost around $1,500.

From the information obtained by the before-mentioned news portal, it seems like Lenovo will launch its Motorola Razr “remake” in the US, only, in partnership with Verizon, and it will do that in February, most likely around February 20th, the date set by Samsung for the launch f its Galaxy S10 series and Galaxy F folding smartphone.

Google Web Services, Including Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Sites, Got Material Design

Google web services, such as Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Sites, received the Material Design on January 15th. Users have already seen the new look on G Suite services like Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Sites on the web, which is just the most recent update of the Google’s redesign initiative that already impacted Google Account, search bar, and Google Translate, among others.

However, the new update Google implemented to its G Suite is purely visual, so no new features or under the hood changes have been introduced.

Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Sites got the new visuals which, according to the official Google blog post, include:

  • Interface typography that uses Google’s custom-designed and highly-legible typefaces
  • Controls (like buttons, dialogs, and sidebars) that are updated and consistent
  • Iconography that is legible and crisp, with a fresh feel

Material Design came to Google web services, including G Suite services such as Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Sites

According to Google, the rollout of the Material Design to G Suite services, including Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Sites, will happen in two phases. The first one has already started on January 15th and is a gradual rollout with up to 15 days for feature visibility. The second stage will commence on February 11th when Google planned the full deployment of its Material Design.

Thus, on February 11th, all the remaining Google web services, G Suite apps, and other Google applications and services would receive the new Material Design.

Also, Google reported that all the new visuals redesign applied over G Suite services, including, as mentioned, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Sites, would be in-line with the design of Gmail and Google Calendar so that the users would have a more consistent experience across all the G Suite services, as MobileSyrup explained.
