Huawei set to Launch its first 5G Phone in 2019

With the introduction of brand new 5G technology expected sometime in 2020, some of the biggest phone makers in the world have already made their plans known when it comes to new devices that will be able to support this type of network. Most of the tech giants, such as Xiaomi, HTC and LG have already started their preparations for 2019. Although Huawei remained quiet for a long time, the Chinese company has finally announced the launch of its first 5G phone.

The statement was made at the Mobile World Congress Shanghai during an opening speech, which was dedicated to the upcoming 5G network technology. Huawei’s new device is expected to be launched at any time before the end of June of the next year. In March 2019, so before the new 5G phone’s debut, the Chinese company plans to release its first 5G Kirin chip, which will support the new technology on Huawei’s devices.

Huawei’s 5G phone unlikely to be available in the U.S.

Huawei has chosen to develop its own processor and modem, unlike most of the phone makers, who use products provided by Qualcomm. However, due to its conflict with the U.S. government, the company has lost all deals with American carriers, such as Verizon and AT&T, and an electronics retailer, Best Buy. At the moment, it looks like Huawei’s new phone will not be officially available in the U.S.

What should we expect with the arrival of 5G technology?

Usually the arrival of a new technology creates very high expectations, and it is not any different with the upcoming 5G network. According to some reports, it will be up to 10 times faster than 4G, allowing us to use it not only to browse the internet, but also in upcoming, potentially life-changing technologies.

New Details of Microsoft Surface 2018 Phone Unveiled

The leaks about a new Microsoft Surface Phone have not been giving us too many details on how this device powered by Andromeda OS would look like or function. However, a recent report sheds more light on this potentially exciting phone.

A phone that can be transformed into a laptop

According to a code discovered by PhoneArena, the Surface Phone may allow us to choose between five preset positions, thanks to its foldable design. This seems to confirm some of the older leaks which indicated that this device could be turned into a small laptop. However, based on the recent reports, it looks like the functionality of the Surface Phone could depend on its physical position. Compared to foldable devices running on Android, such as ZTE Axon M, this Microsoft phone would be much more advanced.

The features of the Surface Phone

Unfortunately, at the moment, we do not know anything about the influence of the Surface Phone’s foldable form on the device’s functionality. Still, the recent report mentions the phone’s chipset, which is likely to be Snapdragon 1000. Qualcomm’s goal while designing this chipset is to beat its rival Intel and some of the company’s best processors.

Just how good can the Surface Phone be?

With the launch of Windows 8 Phone, Microsoft has fallen way behind Google and Apple on the mobile devices’ market. The phone was criticized for its lack of app support at the level of Android and iOS. Considering the failure of the Windows 8 Phone, Microsoft has a lot to prove, especially if the new Andromeda OS will be a version of Windows 10.

O2, Vodafone, EE and Their Best Plans for Business

There is also a possibility of signing up for an optional, 30-day contract, which costs only £2 more per month.

Vodafone – £20 plan

Cheaper than O2’s £26 plan, Vodafone’s Red Bundle offers comparable, if not better, international allowances: unlimited minutes and texts in the EU plus 4GB of data. Additionally, the WorldTraveller option, which costs only £5 per day of usage, allows you to use your UK minutes or texts in 58 other countries worldwide. When it comes to data, this plan will give you 20GB, which is a lot for just £20.

EE – £17 plan

This package offers a very good deal for all passionate users of the internet: 15GB of data through a superfast 4GEE network. Moreover, tethering and VOIP are allowed. Another great advantage of this plan is the possibility of sharing the allowances with up to three co-workers.

OnePlus’s Oxygenos Update Causes the Battery to Drain Faster

OnePlus six has already received more than two of its updates. When talking about the last one, we talk about OxygenOS, the 5.1.8 version. As incredible as it may sound, not many users could enjoy it, since it already presented a problem: the battery drains really fast. But do we know what’s causing this problem? Do we have a solution?

Ever since the phone got its OxygenOS update, people have started to complain about a usual increase in battery consumption. Many comments were left on the OnePlus forum. Few people tried to solve the problem themselves. For example, someone thought that the problem was the Cellphone signal reception, so they used another network provider, but that did not solve the issue. Clients stated that they needed to charge their phones two, even three times a day, even if they didn’t use it that much. They also said that in 5 hours, the battery was as low as 9%. Most of the clients complained that the battery didn’t have any problems before the update. It was after the OxygenOS 5.1.8 version that the issue started to make their appearances.

And it’s the same problem for several users, all after the download and install of this specific update. However, we have some great news, too – it did not affect all the updated units. But there are some users that stated that they have problems with the fingerprint reader, which became slow, and their device, that was overheating, all after the update.

Is there a solution to this?

Pokemon Go Receives a More Realistic AR Pikachu thanks to the Developer’s New Technology

The Augmented Reality (AR) seems to be one of Niantic’s latest innovating areas. Nowadays, the developer is working on improving Pokemon Go by turning the AR tech into something more like actual reality. For that matter, they have created virtual versions of the sweetest characters, Pikachu and Eevee and have given them the possibility to hide behind objects from the real world.

This operation received the Codename: Niantic Occlusion and it has been presented by a brief demo video released by the developer. In this short footage, the Augmented Reality characters are shown as real-world environment characters. Players will be very excited to see this considering the fact that from now on, they won’t see any connection between Pikachu and the top of a camera feed.

The team which has been working on developing the new technology joined Niantic recently. Under the name Matrix Mill, the specialists spent several years working on the development of a system that can induce information about the environment around us on different cameras.

Once discovered, this technique can redefine the way machines see the 3D world and how digital objects end up interacting with the real elements. The Codename: Niantic Occlusion operation presents AR Pokemon Go figures running among real people and hiding behind different objects from the actual surrounding world.

Also, they are making some independent gestures which show a high level of integration into the natural environment. From the experiment we can conclude that the future of AR is bright and will bring many surprises.

Niantic says that Codename: Niantic Occlusion can serve as concept note for innovative gameplay possibilities. Since virtual characters like Pikachu can become aware that different things are near and hide behind them, Pokémon Go and similar games will become even more challenging if they’re played in AR mode.
