Samsung Galaxy J6 2018 Release Date, Design and Features

Good news for the fans of Samsung’s smartphones belonging the J-series: the new budget-friendly product has just been unveiled. Samsung Galaxy J6 will be, in many different ways, one of its kind and a big step forward for mid-range phones. We can expect that J6 will find its own place in the market thanks to a relatively big number of new features, some of which has already been revealed.

Launch date and price

When it comes to a specific date of the launch, this has not been announced yet. All we know so far is that J6 should become available for purchasing at some point in the summer. The list of partners selected for the official release in the UK remains unknown as well. While talking about the price, we need to keep in mind that the new J-series device is a budget phone, which means that its cost on the Brittish market should close somewhere between £200 – £300, most likely closer to the first number. Samsung Galaxy J6 will be available in three distinct colors: black, gold and lavender.

Design

As it was mentioned before, Samsung Galaxy J6 is a big improvement compared to its predecessors belonging to the J family. It looks like Samsung has managed to implement a great deal of its newest technological advancements, amongst which Infinity Display definitely plays a big role. Galaxy J6 has a 5.6in all-screen front with Super AMOLED display. The aspect ratio was set at 18.5:9 and the screen resolution of 1480×720 is more than good enough for the casual users. Thanks to a very smart design, with almost non-existent bezels, most of the front of the device contains the screen, which makes J6 look very modern.

We should also mention that this smartphone has a 3.5mm headphone port, in case you are not the biggest fan of Bluetooth. There’s also a micro-USB port at the bottom of the device and of course the buttons: power on the right and volume on the left. In addition to that, there is also a fingerprint reader, located on the back of the phone, slightly below the camera.

Camera

Since nowadays camera is an essential part of every smartphone, let’s take a quick look at the camera specifications of Samsung Galaxy J6. The new J-model of the Samsung family has rather a performant camera, considering the fact that it is supposed to be a budget-friendly phone. There is a rear camera that has 13MP with an aperture of f/1.7 plus an additional phase-detect autofocus, and a front camera of 8MP with an aperture of f/1.8, which you can use with a good effect to take some truly stylish selfies. Both cameras are equipped with LED flash.

AR emoji

J6’s cameras support AR emoji, a new addition to the Samsung’s line of mid-range phones. This function allows you to create your own augmented reality emoji. If you are curious to see how you would look like in an animated world, soon you’ll have a chance to find out thanks to the new Galaxy J6.

Performance

When it comes to the performance, J6 will be a good choice within its price range. Equipped with an unspecified octa-core 1.6GHz processor and 3GB of RAM, Samsung Galaxy J6 will have 32GB of internal storage that can be easily expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card. The smartphone will run Android 8 Oreo, and a mid-range battery of capacity 3000mAh guarantees that you can use your phone without the need to recharge it for a good amount of time.

Final thoughts on Samsung Galaxy J6

Samsung Galaxy J6 is a very good addition to the offer of budget-friendly smartphones provided by the South Korean company. Moreover, even though price-wise it belongs to a mid-range group of smartphones, it doesn’t lack any features of a truly modern mobile device.

Obviously, J6 will have to compete against numerous rivals, but taking into consideration all the features and specifications confirmed so far, it seems likely that Galaxy J6 will beat its competition. Since the date of the official launch was not yet revealed, we will have to wait a little bit longer to see the new member of the Samsung family in action.

Adobe Flash Security Flaw

The exploit is known as “CVE-2018-5002” and the team who is in charge of developing Adobe knows about it. The exploit somehow managed to breach through Adobe’s security walls and it is used against Windows powered computers.

“The exploit is being used in limited, targeted attacks against Windows users. These attacks leverage Microsoft Office documents with embedded malicious Flash Player content distributed via email” said Adobe in an official statement.

Vulnerable Version of Flash

Adobe went on to say that Flash version 29.0.0.171 and earlier builds are all vulnerable to the exploit. Moreover, Adobe released a new version of Flash with the 30.0.0.113 build number for Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome OS which comes with a hotfix for the security issue.

Android P vs. iOS 12: Performance and Updates Comparison

Since both Android P and iOS 12 are going to be released later this year, it’s inevitable that users will attempt to compare them. Of course, some similarities are going to appear, intentionally or not. After all, the destination of these products is exactly the same market. Now, with some of the features more or less confirmed, we can already draw some early comparisons between them.

We’ll take a look at some of the features already revealed, in order to see just how similar these two mobile operating systems are.

Digital Health

It looks like Google and Apple are going to fight phone addiction by implementing apps that will help you control the time you spend on your mobile device. In addition to that, both companies decided to expand the parental control options.

Artificial Intelligence Features

The two companies decided to focus on improving the AI-powered features. Google Assistant and Siri will help you organize your phone and personalize your apps on a much deeper level, thanks to more advanced machine learning technology.

Performance and Updates

While iOS 12’s main focus is an improved performance and the speed of accessing apps, with the introduction of Android P, Google is trying to solve an ongoing issue with the updates.

Notifications

In this area, we can see more changes in iOS 12, mostly because Apple is trying to catch up with Google. Apple’s main aim is to expand the user’s control over the notifications, and to further organize them.

Gesture Navigation

Since Apple is trying to marginalize the usage of buttons on all of its devices, with iOS 12 we will see an introduction to the advanced gesture navigation system on the iPad. Google will also use this system to improve the home screen, while keeping the three-button option in place at the same time.

Conclusions

As we can see, since both Android P and iOS 12 are trying to achieve the same goals, a wide range of similar features will be used in the two operating systems. Of course, to see them in action, we will have to wait for the official release of the products.

iOS 11.3.1 Complete Jailbreak Tool is Now Available

Apple recently hosted its WWDC event where it unveiled everything there is to know about iOS 12. The major software update is scheduled to roll out during this fall and this means that jailbreakers need to step up their game if they want to unlock iOS 11.3.1 before Apple stops signing it. Luckily, Abraham Masri managed to create a semi iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak tool which gives us hope that a full version might arrive in the upcoming future.

Houdini iOS 11.3.1 Semi Jailbreak Tool

In case you didn’t know, Abraham Masri is an experienced hacker and developer who loves to take on Apple’s iOS. The developer just launched a Houdini iOS 11.3.1 semi jailbreak tool that uses the iOS exploit which was found by none other than Ian Beer, another prominent personality in the iOS jailbreak community.

Nonetheless, the Houdini tool is renowned for giving iOS fans the ability to access multiple apps, features and functionalities that stock Apple devices are not usually able to run. Unfortunately, this is not a full jailbreak, and this means that Cydia cannot be installed.

Complete Jailbreak Tool

We should mention that Abraham Masri is not the first developer to release a semi jailbreak tool for iOS 11.3.1 since the folks behind Electra managed to do the same thing. On the downside of things, the semi jailbreak doesn’t allow for a complete Cydia installation and it doesn’t fully open iOS to features and functionalities that Apple doesn’t agree with.

Although, having a semi jailbreak tool is better than nothing. Moreover, the semi jailbreak tool also shows that cracking iOS 11.3.1 is possible and that in due time, Houdini or Electra might be able to offer a complete jailbreak. The only thing we can do right now is to wait and hope that Abraham Masri, Ian Beer or other jailbreakers will find new exploits.
