iOS 11.4.1 Jailbreak Solution May Not Be Possible Yet

The tech world is very complicated. Normally, upgrades are a good thing and bring interesting features which arises the users’ curiosity. With iOS the story is different. Every update will fix bugs and create new security patches that have the role of protecting your iPhone and keeping it up-to-date.

On the other hand, upgrades are not good news in the jailbreak world. In some cases, they can mean certain death. We saw that recently, when Apple announced they stopped signing iOS 11.4. For that matter, we understand that users with upgraded versions of the operating system, like iOS 11.4.1 won’t have the possibility to jailbreak their iPhone.

What does it mean to stop “signing” a software?

When Apple does that, iTunes won’t recognize it, therefore won’t be able to install it on your iPhone. People don’t usually tend to go back to previous OS versions, but jailbreakers need time to exploit iOS, so they have to be one or two steps behind Apple.

Until now, the most recent jailbreak was presented by jailbreak developers working on iOS 11. Thanks to them we were able to see a semi-tethered jailbreak for iOS 11.2 through iOS 11.4 beta 3. In this case, if you upgrade to 11.4.1, you don’t have the possibility to go back. As you might have figured out by now, you’ve lost the chance to jailbreak, at least until someone discovers a way to perform it on 11.4.1.

There are a few ways to revert the update

If you haven’t upgraded to 11.4.1 yet, but you are ready to perform this operation, here’s what you can do. You have to save your SHSH2 blobs in order to revert the iPhone to iOS 11.4. The blobs can be saved even if you are still using this operating system. Keep them as insurance policy, in case you’ll update to 11.4.1.

If you performed the update without saving the blobs, don’t lose your hope. Developers will find a way perform jailbreaks on iOS 11.4.1 for sure.
