Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Available with Android Oreo

With the introduction of Google’s new operating system, Android Oreo, in Europe and in the US going on for some time now, it is time for AT&T to release it for Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

According to some sources, it was expected that Verizon will be the first US carrier to introduce Android 8.0 Oreo to Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. But this time, AT&T has managed to beat its main competitor.

AT&T is finally updating S7 and S7 Edge

After it was announced by Verizon that the Android Oreo update is ready to be deployed for S7 and S7 Edge, the company removed the official changelog twice from its website. On the other hand, AT&T hasn’t made any announcement. Instead, it decided to simply go ahead with the update.

The American giant has started rolling out Android Oreo as an over the air update. It includes not only Google’s new operating system, but also the Samsung Experience 9.0. In addition to that, the security patch from April 2018 comes with this release.

What’s new with Android Oreo

The eighth major update of Android, Oreo comes with a wide range of features. The most significant amongst them are: Picture-in-Picture, Notification Dots and Autofill. Android Oreo also includes an expanded emoji set, some additional security and improved management of the apps.

How to upgrade your android

If you want to see if Android 8.0 Oreo is available for your device, you can go to check that in the Settings menu. The update’s built number is G93xAUCU4CRE4 and its size is approximately 1.8GB. If you are an owner of AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge and you still haven’t received it, do not forget to press the “check updates” button.
