Fix Crashing Excel Glitch After the Windows 10 April Update

As we already know, the April update of Windows 10 wasn’t released according to plan, which resulted in a great number of reports on errors provided by concerned users. Amongst those problems, an issue with enforced installation is well-documented. But there’s another complication affecting the users of Microsoft Excel 2002.

Microsoft Excel 2002 keeps on crashing

Microsoft Office is a very expensive package, thus its older versions are still quite common amongst the users of Windows 10. Unfortunately, it seems like there are many problems with the compatibility between the newest Windows version and some older and therefore unsupported programs, including Microsoft Excel 2002. When users try to enter a new date or formula in a cell, Excel starts crashing. What is even worse is that this happens continuously, not allowing users to work in Excel.

A way to fix the glitch by yourself

Since Microsoft Excel 2002 is part of an old and unsupported Microsoft Office package, we might not get a fix to this problem, unless the issue itself is being caused by Windows 10. Luckily, there seems to be a way to resolve this bug. The solution lies in changing the formatting of all cells in the spreadsheets. You can do this in many ways, but we will share with you the simplest one. All you need to do is to select all the cells and then format them to align the text to the left, center or right. This seems to work for most of the people and apparently making other changes to the format of the cells helps as well. One thing to keep in mind is that you need to do it every time you open a new Excel document.

So far, we haven’t heard anything from Microsoft regarding this issue and nothing is known about its origin. We hope that new Windows 10 updates will fix this problem.
