The South Korean source stated that Samsung has decided to present Gear S4 to the world during the Unpacked 2018 event, which will take place in New York City on August 9. On that day, the new smartwatch will make its debut alongside Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Following the event, the company based in South Korea will start taking preorders on August 14, then 10 days later Samsung Gear S4 will become available in the markets.
What do we know about Gear S4’s specifications
When it comes to the expecting operating system of the upcoming smartwatch, we do have some contradictory reports. We have heard from many sources that Gear S4 will be based on Samsung’s Tizen OS, most likely its Tizen 5.0 version, which debuted in May. However, a respected tipster, Evan Blass, predicts that Google Wear OS will replace Tizen. It looks like we will have to wait until August 9 in order to find out which operating system will Gear S4 use.
It is expected that the capacity of battery will be increased from 380mAh to 470mAh. The device will also include LTE connectivity.
Samsung Gear S4’s main theme will be health and fitness, therefore we might see not only some fitness-related apps, but even a built-in blood pressure sensor. Additionally, the smartwatch’s design will be characterized by a thinner face and lighter form-factor. Users will be able to choose between two variants of Samsung Gear S4: Classic and sporty-looking Frontier.
