iOS 12.1.2 Pros and Cons – Improved Security with Bug Fixes

The latest update for iOS has been released earlier in January.

The update adds a host of new features but it seems that some bugs escaped through the holes. Many users have complained on official and unofficial forums that they face a wide selection of issues ranging from weak battery life and FaceID to extensive connectivity issues. Read below to learn more about the update and the pros and cons of updating.

Advantages

  • Improved security

The latest update has improved the Safari browser. An Intelligent Tracking Prevention feature will prevent nosy site from monitoring your browser activity. Additional security features will allow you to flag old or reused passwords, share them with contracts and much more.

  • Some bugs were fixed

Issues that affected eSIM activation and connectivity were addressed by the update. UI lag, poor Bluetooth connection and weak Wi-Fi reception issues were also removed.

  • Dual SIM support on the latest models

Those that need or want to use the dual SIM feature will be now able to do so.

  • The update is mandatory if you want to use the full features of your Apple Watch

The ECG feature present on the latest version of the Apple Watch is now usable. It allows user to track the activity of their heart and it provide advice if something doesn’t seem to be right. The only problem is that users will have to install the latest update in order to be able to access the feature. It will not work otherwise.

Some quality-of-life improvements were also added. You can now switch cameras during FaceTime by tapping on the screen. VoiceOver is now more accurate and users can opt to hide the sidebar when they are browsing the latest news.

Disadvantages

Some of the bugs were already mentioned in the first lines of the articles. If you don’t need any of the new features right now it is advised to wait for a while. A new update that will fix the current issues should arrive in the following weeks.
