Fix: Can’t Update or Play Clash Royale

Can’t update or play Clash Royale on your Android or iOS smartphone/tablet? We’ll show you a workaround in this tutorial.

As gathered from gamers’ reviews on notable gaming sites and forums, Clash Royale no longer updates on some phones, and at times, when it does, it won’t load.

To resolve this issue, follow through this tutorial.

Fix: Can’t Update or Play Clash Royale

Clash Royale’s franchise, Supercell, released the latest update of the game in June last year (2018). Since then, there have been complaints from several quarters regarding the new update. In some cases, gamers reported that they are unable to update or install the latest version of the game on their phones. And in other cases, the game simply fails to load after an update.

This issue, unfortunately, has no known fix, as it is not an error, but a compatibility issue between the hosting smartphone and the new update. And according to Supercell (Clash Royale developer), support is being withdrawn for old Android and iOS smartphones and tablets.

Therefore, the new update of the game is best deployed on Android Marshmallow (Android 6.0) and above (for Android users). This means that, Android 4.0 (KitKat) and older are no longer supported by the game. Hence, users on such versions are restricted from enjoying the new update.

In the same vein, for iOS users, the game is best suited for newer versions, from iOS 10 upwards. Hence, iPhones and iPads running on iOS 8 and older are no longer compatible with Clash Royale (the new update).

However, while you are barred from updating or playing the new updated Clash Royale, you can still access the previous update for the time being.

So, what is the ultimate solution?

Update Android or iOS Smartphone

As pointed out earlier, this is not a bug or error of any sort, but rather a compatibility issue. Typically, your smartphone’s software engine is deemed too old to provide the requisite support for the updated version of the game.

Ultimately, however, you would have to upgrade your smartphone’s OS to a newer version or if you have the resources, simply acquire a new – improved – smartphone (preferably with a minimum OS of Android 7.0 or iOS 10). This way, you are guaranteed unrestrained access to enjoy your favorite game.
