Analyse Your Spending to Make Great Savings in 2019

With Christmas well and truly behind us, the first thing on sensible minds going into what promises to be a grimly uncertain 2019 will be their finances. We always end up spending more than we meant to towards the end of the year, so the beginning of the year is all about making up the difference by cutting corners. Making savings doesn’t need to feel like pulling teeth though and you don’t need to deny yourself many pleasures and conveniences in order to be more financially responsible. A good start is to make sure you’re keeping track of your spending patterns.

Metres

Many of us have a tendency to lose track of how much energy we’re using, particularly in January when it’s so tempting to throw caution to the wind and turn the heating up to counteract the Winter chill. Smart metres can not only be controlled remotely via an app but will give you a more thorough and detailed analysis of your energy expenditure. You can even get one fitting for gas and one for electric, so you’ll know not only when to dial the heating down a few notches, but when to start curtailing those late-night Netflix binge sessions too.

Apps

There are a number of apps (many of them free to use) that exist specifically to help you keep track of your expenses. Ranging from simple software that allows you to input your expenses, to apps that link with your bank account so you can’t cheat it! There is also a rise in mobile-only banks currently making waves in the UK, with Monzo currently leading the charge. Monzo became Britain’s best-rated lender last year, so it’s obviously far more than just a fad and these banks are far better placed to help you keep track of your finances.

Cards

The rise in popularity of contactless credit and debit cards might have made a few nervous spenders feel like they could let themselves get carried away without feeling like they’ve spent a penny, they are actually wonderful for keeping track of your spending. With cash payments, you’ll need to make a manual note that you’ve made a transaction, whereas using a card, you’ll have an automatic, electronic record of every purchase and every paycheque. Of course, a fair amount of self-restraint is required, but mercifully contactless payments are capped at £30, which will stop you from making any wildly expensive compulsive purchases.

Loans

Particularly with January 31st looming and tax bills needing to be paid, short-term personal loans can be a viable solution if your spending has managed to get out of hand and you’re in need of a quick cash injection to tide you over. Likely Loans is one of the few lenders that won’t charge you any hidden fees and offers a very reasonable APR.

Notes

It might sound old-fashioned, but if all else fails, keeping a financial notebook can be a more hands-on way of keeping on top of things. This approach, however, requires a fair amount of discipline.

Most Known Problems with WhatsApp and How To Fix Them

I can’t manage to install WhatsApp

The latest version of WhatsApp can be download only if your smartphone runs Android version 2.3.3 or higher. If you are not sure of the Android version, you can always check it by going to Settings and then to About Phone.

If the place where you want to download this app from is its official website, before doing that you would need to enable the Unknown Sources in your settings.

The activation code was not sent to me

If you did not encounter any problems with the installation, but then the automatically generated message with your activation code simply does not want to do anything with you, then the first step would be to check if your number is correctly written. The next step would be to check the country, and if those two are accurate, then you should receive the code.

If receiving the code does not work, you should choose the voice call in which a computer will read the code to you over the phone.

Do not forget that a SIM is mandatory to register for WhatsApp. Another such thing would be that per phone number only one device can be used.

WhatsApp is down, I can’t connect to WhatsApp or WhatsApp is not working

The connection problems of WhatsApp are usually caused by your network data connection or your Wi-Fi. Here are a few solutions in case you can’t send a message:

One of the most straightforward steps would be to ensure that your phone is switched on.

Using Play Store, install WhatsApp’s latest version.

Go to Settings then to Wireless and Network and check your Wi-Fi, internet connection or 4G.

Do not forget that WhatsApp can be affected by Task Killer apps so check those.

iPhone XR of 2019: What Should We Expect?

It is most likely that the XR 2 will not be announced earlier than September 2019 and later that month or in October it will be available in shops.

As for the release schedule of Apple, we can quickly be assured that every autumn we will have a new handset. However, its availability depends. It is three years since Apple dropped an iPhone outside this period, that being iPhone SE. Due to the fact that this phone is more aimed at the budget audience, we might not get it until spring 2020.

Price

In 2018, the iPhone XR was released with the price of £749/$749 with 64GB of storage while for the 128GB and 256GB one the prices rise.

Even though this iPhone has a lower price than the iPhone XS, its features and specs are similar, so this year the price should not be too different from the previous year.

The UK pricing might be negatively impacted by the Brexit process because the pound would drop and imported products would become more expensive.

Specs & new features

In 2018 the iPhone XR was similar to the iPhone 6, but with XS’s specs and features and 5C’s colors.

The more expensive components such as the OLED screen were replaced, in this case with an LCD one, and the dual-lens camera to a single one.

Some other differences included a thicker body and larger bezels. However, many of these are not that easy to be observed so who would not buy this one instead of paying $250 more and having a slightly different aspect? At least we know that this phone is good enough for people who do not have a budget big enough to get a more professional version.

1 Million iOS Devices Were Jailbroken with Absinthe 2.0

According to some voices, Absinthe 2.0 is becoming a popular jailbreaking method. Tech website and experts from the field say that in the first weekend since it was released, over 1 million people used Absinthe 2.0 to jailbreak their iOS devices.

On the other hand, the jailbreaking community says that the use of this tool shows lack of experience in the mentioned area. Considering the increasing number of non-experts who perform jailbreaks, the situation is not surprising.

iOS users have different opinions about this trend

Since the news about Absinthe 2.0’s increasing popularity went viral, iOS users shared their opinion about the situation. A part of them said that jailbreaks performed with Absinthe 2.0 actually users to ”own” their phones.

As we can imagine, people don’t like the idea of spending money on a piece of hardware or software just to see how Apple doesn’t allow them to fully benefit from their purchase. In this case, Absinthe 2.0 turns out to be very useful and the real surprise it that there aren’t more than 1 million people using the tool.

Others say that Apple devices are really not worth it and people shouldn’t buy them. According to them, Android offers a lot more interesting and useful alternatives with a more budget-friendly price. In this case, smartphone users won’t need to buy jailbreaks either.

The controversy went on as time passed and people felt the need to express their thoughts on this matter. Regardless of their opinion about one operating system or the other, most iOS users are still willing to jailbreak their devices.

On the other hand, we cannot deny its importance when it comes to online security and improved performance. It remains to be seen if Absinthe 2.0 will remain as popular as it is now or the jailbreak community will prefer other tools.

iOS 13 Leak: What Should We Expect from It?

Even if iOS 12 just got to the phones in September, fans already want iOS 13. Apple is testing their new operating system. From leaks, we got that they are actually working on it, and things are just so exciting!

When will we have more details?

We’re expecting even more details soon, since leaks started to make their appearances. Many sites already shared analytics data, that showed visits from devices that run iOS 13. One of them said that it initially saw visits in October. And then, in November, and then in December. And now, they’re about to pick it up after the holidays.

What’s interesting is the fact that people had said that they’ve seen the iOS 13 running on devices ever since March 2018, which is months before iOS 12 was even revealed.

What should we expect from iOS 13?

Some leaks have shown that some of the features from iOS 12 are expected to be seen in iOS 13, too. We know it takes a long time actually to develop a new operating system, so we might have to wait a bit until it gets to see the light of the day.

Many of the most wanted features expected for iOS 12 were for iPads. A clear example would be the fact that Apple wanted to revamp the iPad’s Files app. Apple also wants to improve iPad’s multitasking features, by adding more tabs in the app, so users can open more than just one tab from inside the app.

iOS 13 may allow those of you who have an iPad to have two windows of the same app opened one next to another, in Split View.

However, not all of them are made for iPads. For iPhone, they might want to change the grid on the Home screen.
