iOS 12.1.1 Is Now Available to Download – Here Is What The Update Brings

Apple has officially released iOS 12.1.1. The update comes with several new additions and it even brings back some features. However, the most exciting thing about the update remains the eSIM support. Dual sim is a feature which was missing from iPhones up until the release of the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max.

Dual SIM support

In theory, dual SIM support was supposed to be available for iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max with the iOS 12 update. Nonetheless, dual SIM support is a bit different when it comes to Apple. The new iPhones can only use one nano-SIM card. Those who want to use a second card can only use that SIM through eSIM technology. Therefore, the iOS 12.1.1 update was needed so that US iPhones can use the dual SIM feature.

AT&T is the only carrier offering the feature at the moment. Nonetheless, other carriers will join them once more iOS 12 updates will be released.

Other features

The iOS 12.1.1 update comes with other features as well. This update brings back one of the most useful FaceTime features. Before iOS 12 was released, users were able to flip the camera during a FaceTime call with just a single tap. However, this feature was removed by the iOS 12 update, and users were not happy with this decision. Luckily for them, the iOS 12.1.1 update brings back this feature.

If you have an iPhone make sure that you install the iOS 12.1.1. It is very important to keep your phone up to date, as the latest iOS version also come with bug fixes. The latest update solves some issues related to Face ID, which makes it very useful for the iPhones X or later.

What Do 2018 Retail Trends Tell Us About 2019?

One of the most temperamental markets we have, the retail space is dictated to by so many outside factors that its success or failure often has little to do with its own efforts directly. The first place to suffer when the economy is uncertain, people are obviously less likely to engage in what may appear to be frivolous spending if what’s coming in to their account isn’t as strong as it could be.

With huge factors such as Brexit and the rise of online shopping completely altering the landscape, consumer behaviour when it comes to both the high street and surfing online changes as a result. An obstacle for not only consumers to consider, but those who have related Forex interests such as traders OANDA, it’s an industry can cause ripples in places you wouldn’t usually expect.

State Of Retail In 2018

2018 was a challenging year for retailers, as despite consumer confidence rising, growth in spending has not. There was the predicted fall in inflation, but wage growth has also taken a hit, essentially squeezing consumers in to similar levels of financial pressure, not allowing them the disposable income to interact in the retail sector more.

Additional factors such as the infamous Beast From The East affected the first three months of the year, with the heavy snow and ice completely reducing both footfall and supply chains, which lead to depleted levels of stock and interest. However, later on in the year, the sales on offer did provoke a strong uptake, which directly contradicted what many experts had been anticipating.

One unforeseen boost was the hot summer, World Cup fever and popular Royal Wedding, which all combined to boost the food and drink market, with BBQs and alcohol proving particularly popular.

What’s To Come In 2019?

The high street will have to continue its evolution in order to remain relevant in an increasingly digital landscape, but as signs showed in 2018, it’s an area of the sector that’s far from dead. While there have been closures and job losses, these aren’t entirely down to just consumer behaviour, but other factors including rising costs and technological disruptions.

The online market place is likely to continue its dominance and growth, with further sales periods in January and Easter now joined by the Black Friday and Cyber Monday phenomenon’s, which have now all begun to take a real hold and provoke large spends across those periods.

Does Small Business Saturday Signal A Shift Toward Independent Retailers?

While the retail industry online is going from strength-to-strength, hoovering up increasingly more of the market share and drawing even more consumers away from the high street – especially at this time of the year with Christmas so close by – independent retailers have struggled to carve out a lasting space for themselves in recent years.

Far more convenient, and often cheaper, to simply click through our purchases via the web than venture out in person, it has been difficult to see how indie shops would be able to force their way back in to mainstream consideration – but that’s exactly why Small Business Saturday was introduced.

What Is Small Business Saturday?

Held on the first Saturday of December each year, Small Business Saturday was introduced to give prominence to the UK’s 5.6 million small businesses. Similar in intention to the now wildly successful and increasingly popular Independent Record Store Day – which takes place in both the UK and United States – there is not only increased focus on physically going in to stores, but using independent online outlets and businesses, with some hosting events on the day to further increase interest.

An entirely grassroots and non-commercial campaign, the focus is on local independent businesses, with community at the heart of what they do. A success already, it is estimated that £748 million was spent as a result of the day being held in 2017, which would represent an incredible boost to many local economies as a result. Something that will surely grow year-on-year as awareness improves organically, it’s undeniably a positive event that the sector required – because even with small business loans available, there is no real replacement for profit.

Are We Using Independent Retailers More?

Unfortunately, this isn’t a straight yes or no answer. While it’s true that the use of independent stores is on the rise – although not seismically – it’s also true that the market share of online retailers is also growing, too. Essentially, the worst affected now tend to be chain stores on the high street, as they do not benefit from the footfall they once did, and do not offer the deals online to compete with the likes of Amazon and Asos, who’ve made their mark by undercutting the high street and promoting convenience and variety of stock over a complete retail experience. While this is good for independent business in a micro sense, the bigger picture still shows less people leaving the house to shop, which isn’t within their long term interests.

Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 Leaks: Linux Gaming Benchmarks

We’ve recently heard of many of Linux benchmarks, from GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and GeForce RTX 2070, but we didn’t really have access to the RTX 2080 – the card put between the two current consumer Turing graphics cards. We’ve written this article to give you a glance at the Linux gaming performance, in comparison with a series of AMD Radeon and NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards which were tested on Ubuntu Linux.

Specs

The GeForce RTX 2080 has 2944 CUDA cores, and they are rated for 57T RTX-OPS and about 8 Giga Rays. It has a 1710MHz reference boost frequency and for base clock frequency we’re talking about 1515MHz GPU. 8GB worth of GDDR6 video memory, that’s rated for 448 GB/s of memory bandwidth.

Most of the graphics cards of GeForce RTX 2080 come with the price of $799 to $849 or $899, and it really depends on the AIB model. However, during Black Friday, people were able to get Zotac GeForce RTX 2080 for only $709 – now it’s back to the usual $798. This specific model has a heatsink fan setup and relinquishes any kind of RGB or LED lighting, for those of you who want a modest PC setup.

If you’re curious about Zotac…

It does have “Linux 64-bit” on its list, and it’s found among those supported operating systems that are required for this graphics card. It’s good to see that some NVIDIA or AMD partners mention Linux.

GeForce RTX 2080 has to have a 6-pin and 8-pin PCI Express power connectors, if you don’t want to have any problems with the operation. This connector setup is quite similar to the other graphics cards of NVIDIA RTX, since it has three DisplayPort connections, one USB-C for next-gen VR headsets, one VirtualLink and, one HDMI.
