How to Make Windows XP Run Faster

Are you still running the old Windows XP on your PC? This tutorial will show you how to make it run faster.

Windows XP is five generations behind: it’s been succeeded by Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/10. Frankly, it’s not ideal for running standard modern-day functions. And to make matters worse, it’s highly prone to low memory – RAM – space issue, which significantly reduces system’s running speed.

In any case, if you are looking to speed up your old Win XP PC, follow through this tutorial.

How to Make Windows XP Run Faster

Below are some tips that can be employed/adapted to make WinXP run faster.

  1. Restart computer regularly

This should resolve minor lag issues, as the system is refreshed and all temporary files are cleared.

  1. Clean up disk storage

To do this:

  • Go to Start menu;
  • Click on Run and type in “cleanmgr.exe” in the run dialog box;
  • Click OK and then finish the cleanup.
  1. Reduce startup programs

Running multiple startup programs, especially on a low RAM space (typical of WinXP), often results in reduced system performance.

To reduce startup programs, go under “System Configuration” and disable/enable desired startup programs.

  1. Scan for viruses/malwares/ransomeware/spywares

If your PC is acting funny and the running speed is reduced, there is possibility of a virus attack. Hence, download and install a standard anti-malware program to scan and clear the viruses.

  1. Clean up system

If your PC becomes cluttered/congested with too many files and/or apps, your system’s performance would reduce. To resolve this, perform a clean up once in a while.

You can remove temporary files and other less relevant files/apps from your system. For better performance, you can employ a third-party clean up program like CCleaner.

  1. Adjust Visual Effects settings

Go to the “Performance Options” window under “Control Panel” and select the “Adjust for best performance” option. This will reduce the graphics effects of your PC, and your system would run much faster.

  1. Defragment hard disk

You can use Windows Disk Defragmenter to do this. However, under no circumstance should you apply this on computers with SSDs (solid state drives).

Closing Note

There’s a limit to how fast Windows XP computers can run, irrespective of the tweaks and changes applied to it. Hence, for better performance, you may have to upgrade to a newer version, preferably Windows 7.

The Witcher 3 Could Be Launched on the Nintendo Switch

We can’t live with rumors, but we can’t live without them. Because a new rumor has gone out on the Internet this week that says we could see The Witcher 3 being launched on Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, Nintendo Switch console isn’t offering too much in terms of power, even if it is designed to be versatile. Because the Switch isn’t considered as the equal of the PS4 or Xbox One regarding the process of power, you can’t expect to see high-spec titles.

New Report of the Witcher 3 on Switch Console

The news is saying that a version of the Witcher 3 will come to the Switch console. The rumor was shared on Reset Era, and it comes from China. Also, a new list of games that will be launched in 2019 is included. The message from the report says that Witcher 3 GOTY edition will come to Switch in September, and it will be fully playable.

However, fans are skeptical about the rumor, because they know how demanding the game is. On the other hand, we heard nothing from the CD Projekt Red about the subject, so this can mess with the validity of it. The possibility of transferring the Witcher 3 to the Switch exists, but we think that some compromises would be needed for a perfect function, especially for the Year Edition that is expected to include all the DLC packages.

Moreover, other titles that can be played on the Nintendo Switch, such as Resident Evil 7 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Both games have a cloud streaming version in Japan, but the service isn’t available in the UK or Europe. But this could give us an explanation on how the Witcher 3 could be launched on Switch.

Finally, a lot of fans are saying that the Witcher 3 could be planned for the new upgrade of the Nintendo Switch, but they are excluding the idea of a new Pro Nintendo Switch to be released during the E3 2019.

Battlefield 5 Update: New Map and Upcoming Weapons

Based in World War II, Battlefield 5 was released in 2018 with eight maps initially and other plans for later on. A recent trailer announced a new map named “Mercury” to be updated for free into the game at the end of this month on 30th of May. It will be part of chapter 3 of Battlefield 5’s Tides of War live service.

Electronic Arts teased us with Mercury right after the launch, however just now we are able to get a clear idea of what this new map is all about. It will be located in on the gorgeous coast of Crete Island, in Greece and is inspired by the real events of Operation Mercury in 1941. Following the historical facts the two factions will be Germany and the United Kingdom.

What is new about the gameplay of this map is that the forces are quite unbalanced, the Germans will be controlling the sky with their fighter planes while the British will dominate the grounds with their tanks. Of course, the Brits will also have an air force however much smaller than the one belonging to the German faction.

With its rough and spiky cliffs and the verticality of the map, it seems that the play style resembles the one from Battlefield1’s Monte Grappa or Battlefield’s 4 Altai Range. Big vehicles and air support will be of considerable importance when defending or attacking objectives as well as having very strong fortifications.

Comparing with other maps is a “medium-large” map and watching the trailer you get the vibes of a “moderate to fast” intense battle tempo. In fact the trailer got very good feedbacks from gamers who got excited and motivated by it and said that the map reminded them older Battlefield maps and that they will return to the game.
