2019’s 12-Inch MacBook Available with New Speculations

Since the end of 2018 is so close, we keep hearing more information about next year’s important releases from the tech industry. As we can imagine, entire communities have their hopes up for some long-awaited devices. Most of us know that 2019 will come with awesome gadgets, next-generation technology and new items.

Apple fans are very anxious to see what next year will bring for their favourite MacBook – the 12-inch variant. Unfortunately for them, the Cupertino-based company didn’t make any announcement about the new device’s improvements.

However, recent leaks and rumours made their way through the community and help us find out more about Apples 12-inch MacBook. The mentioned MacBook was brought into discussion during an event organized by the developing company in New York on October 30th.

These are the speculations around the 12-inch MacBook

Some voices say that in 2019 we should expect to see updated versions of previous Apple devices (for example, MacBook Air, Mini Mac and iPad Pro). On the other hand, the company doesn’t mention anything about an update for the 12-inch MacBook.

Since the last upgrade for this piece of equipment was released a year ago, we can conclude that the next patch will arrive in the first part of 2019. February or March is considered to be the most suitable period.

The 12-inch MacBook will arrive with modern specs:

  • It will have the 8th generation Kaby Lake chipsets which are famous for speeding up every task and enhancing the video streaming quality;
  • In what graphics is concerned, the new MacBook might be released with Gen11 integrated graphics. This is Intel’s new creation, so it boosts to support 4K video streaming and content under 8K format;
  • The MacBook will offer 16GB RAM. The storage capacity can be enlarged thanks to USB ports (in this case, we are talking about Type-C or Thunderbolt 3),
  • Connectivity is super-fast – up to 40Gbps;
  • MacBook will come with slimmer bezels and a larger display (possibly OLED for a higher accuracy of colours). This measure is suitable with an updated keyboard.

Windows Lite – Can It Outperform Chrome OS?

Many of you might already know about Windows RT and Windows 10 S, but how many of you have heard of Windows Lite? Not many, and that may be so because Windows Lite is currently under development at Microsoft. However, from what we know so far, the next operating software would be a fascinating one. Also, can it outperform Chrome OS in the sector of notebooks?

Windows Lite would be the future Microsoft operating system dedicated for notebooks and, allegedly, a competitor for Chrome OS and Chromebooks. It would be a lightweight version of Windows, and it will run UWP applications downloaded from the Microsoft store, along with Progressive Web Apps that operates similarly to an offline app but via an online service.

Windows Lite, as a part of Microsoft’s Always-Connected laptop project, would work with any type of CPU to give more options for manufacturers and customers, as well.

Windows Lite – Can It Outperform Chrome OS?

Now, Microsoft did not announce anything about how when it will release Windows Lite. However, the company might announce Windows Lite at the Microsoft Build 2019 conference which would be held somewhen between April and May 2019. Also, some rumors said that Windows Lite wouldn’t be available for purchase, but it would come pre-installed on various notebooks targeting students and home users.

We don’t know yet if Windows Lite would outperform Chrome OS but, thinking that Windows 10 S was a disaster, to some extent, Windows Lite has to be better, so, eventually, it might be a fierce competitor for Chrome OS in the sector of notebooks.

Also, as Chrome OS is “builds off of the familiarity of the Chrome browser,” as Digital Trends reported, Windows Lite might also try to “overhaul the idea of what an operating system should look and feel like,” and head to a new direction.

OnePlus 5G Smartphone Image Leaked On The Internet

OnePlus has already announced its intentions to release a 5G-compatible phone soon. Even though the Chinese company did not hide anything about the evolution of the OnePlus 5G smartphone, surprisingly, no leaks have emerged on the Internet so far. Now, reportedly, we might have the first image of an upcoming OnePlus phone, possibly the 5G one.

Ishan Agarwal, one famous tipster when it comes to the tech industry, released an image on his Twitter page showing OnePlus CEO Pete Lau conducting a presentation of a new OnePlus smartphone.

“Here’s your first look at an upcoming OnePlus Device I don’t know much about. This image shows the device in the prototype/designing stage, and it is not final, but this is probably how the device may end up looking. That’s Pete (CEO of OP) in the image and the device itself,” said Ishan Agarwal on Twitter.

OnePlus 5G Smartphone Image Leaked On The Internet

As Agarwal reported, the device in the image above is still in the prototype stage so that the final design of the smartphone might be different. As we can see in the pic, the OnePlus device in the presentation boasts a shiny back case, while the main cameras are housed in a black circle.

According to some reports, the smartphone in the presentation is quite different from the OnePlus 6T, so, most likely, it’s not a successor of that device. Probably, this one is the prototype of the OnePlus 5G smartphone the Chinese company would soon.

The leak itself is a subject of debates. The presentation room is small, and we can only see three persons besides the one who took the photo. Allegedly, the photographer would’ve been observed by the others while taking the pic, so, most likely, the OnePlus team share the image on purpose with Ishan Agarwal, maybe to create some buzz regarding an upcoming OnePlus smartphone.

Cydia Store Coming To An End – Purchases Closed Down: What’s Next?

While jailbreak might have been revived, things are definitely different compared to how they used to be. Just a couple of years ago, Cydia (a version of App Store which contained jailbreak tweaks) was essential. For many users it was just as important as the App Store, as it allowed them to customize their phone and adapt it to their needs.

However, things have changed drastically later on. Jailbreaking became a difficult process and developers found it almost impossible to crack recent iOS versions. Even when they managed to do that, Cydia Store wasn’t able to make a comeback as well.

Shutting down the service

Cydia’s founder Jay “Saurik” Freeman explained that he thought about shutting down the service. That’s because Cydia stopped being needed, and this also led to almost no profit. Freeman wrote a Reddit post in which he offered more details:

The reality is that I wanted to just shut down the Cydia Store entirely before the end of the year, and was considering moving the timetable up after receiving the report (to this weekend). This service loses me money and is not something I have any passion to maintain: it was a critical component of a healthy ecosystem, and for a while it helped fund a small staff of people to maintain the ecosystem, but it came at great cost to my sanity and led lots of people to irrationally hate me due to what amounted to a purposeful misunderstanding of how profit vs. revenue works.

However, it appears that Cydia won’t be shut down for now, as this wouldn’t help Freeman, who would still have to pay for hosting archived repositories. Therefore, he decided to close down purchases. This change might mark the end for Cydia.

AT&T Would Deploy 5G Network Across 12 Cities In The US – Canadians Have To Wait Until 2020

The US carrier AT&T has just announced the imminent deployment of the 5G network in the country. It is ahead of other big companies such as Sprint, T-Mobile or Verizon, becoming the first to do so. At the moment, 5G will reach 12 cities in the United States starting next Friday, December 21st. With this news, AT&T fulfills its promise to launch 5G service before the end of 2018.

In any case, the fact that even mobile phones do not yet have native support for 5G has forced the operator to take other measures. As it has pointed out, it will work with Netgear’s Nighthawk 5G mobile access point, a portable device that creates its own 5G Wi-Fi network, so that it will be possible to link terminals, tablets or laptops to the 5G network to enjoy a faster connection.

Those consumers and companies that want to get closer to the 5G experience will have to pay for the access point in advance about $500, and then nearly $60 per month for a 15 GB plan. Before that, however, users would be able to test the 5G network free of charge for 90 days.

AT&T Would Deploy 5G Network Across 12 Cities In The US – Canadians Have To Wait Until 2020

The 5G WiFi network would help users to navigate up to 100 times faster than current wireless systems. It will be possible to download a movie on a smartphone in less than three seconds. In addition to that, other significant advantages of 5G would be that you can have faster communications and with less battery consumption.

Apparently, all major US operators are planning to support 5G network in specific cities starting next year. Despite this, AT&T is the first to implement 5G in Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Louisville, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Raleigh, Texas, and San Antonio, reportedly.

And, in case you want to know when 5G would become available in Canada, we know, according to some earlier reports, that 5G network won’t come out in Canada until 2020.
