How to speed up your Mac PC

Wondering why your Mac is running so slow? In this post, we show you effective methods applicable in speeding up your Mac PC.

Speed up your Mac PC using these methods

Follow these simple tips to speed up your Mac in a few minutes.

  • Stop Background Processes

Most times, when we close an app, it does not stop using system resources. Instead, most of these apps began running in the background, consuming vital resources that should have been used for the current processes.

As such, when you find your Mac slowing to a crawl, your first option will be to check and stop some of these apps running behind the scene. Mac provides a way to go about this.

  • Go to your activity folder and open the Utility folder
  • Under the utility folder, click on Activity Monitor
  • This will bring up all the processes currently running on your Mac. Click on the apps you’re currently not using and then on the X symbol to close the operation.
  • Avoid closing processes that you don’t understand its relationship to an app you installed as such processes may be systemic, and closure can easily slow down or even freeze your Mac.
  • Limit Startup Processes

If your Mac takes time to boot, you may want to limit startup processes. By limiting startup processes, you help quicken the booting time. To do this;

  • Go to System Preferences
  • Click on Users & Groups
  • Click on your username and login
  • Select a program you don’t immediately need after startup and then click on the ‘-‘
  • Clear Browser Extension and Themes

Browsers are apps you probably are using regularly. As such, you may want to ensure they load as fast as possible. One way to do this is to delete extension clutters and those fancy themes as they tend to slow the loading time.

  • Safari

Click on the main menu and go to manage extension

  • Firefox

Click tools and then add-ons or right click on the extension from the bars and click on remove extension.

  • Chrome

Right click on the extension and click on remove.

  • Uninstall Software You Don’t Use

Software is always running whether you make use of them or not, especially when there’s an internet connection. They regularly check for updates. As such you may want to uninstall software you don’t use regularly. Don’t just drag and drop them in the trash, instead uninstall them properly:

  • Open the finder application
  • Click on application
  • Double click the app
  • Click on the uninstaller
  • Other ways of speeding up your Mac includes:

  • Adding More RAM
  • Cleaning up Your Hard Disk Drive and
  • Updating your OS.

Most devices will slow down over time as a result of increased load. So to keep your mac fast, you’ll need to clear up as regularly as possible.

2019’s 12-Inch MacBook Available with New Speculations

Since the end of 2018 is so close, we keep hearing more information about next year’s important releases from the tech industry. As we can imagine, entire communities have their hopes up for some long-awaited devices. Most of us know that 2019 will come with awesome gadgets, next-generation technology and new items.

Apple fans are very anxious to see what next year will bring for their favourite MacBook – the 12-inch variant. Unfortunately for them, the Cupertino-based company didn’t make any announcement about the new device’s improvements.

However, recent leaks and rumours made their way through the community and help us find out more about Apples 12-inch MacBook. The mentioned MacBook was brought into discussion during an event organized by the developing company in New York on October 30th.

These are the speculations around the 12-inch MacBook

Some voices say that in 2019 we should expect to see updated versions of previous Apple devices (for example, MacBook Air, Mini Mac and iPad Pro). On the other hand, the company doesn’t mention anything about an update for the 12-inch MacBook.

Since the last upgrade for this piece of equipment was released a year ago, we can conclude that the next patch will arrive in the first part of 2019. February or March is considered to be the most suitable period.

The 12-inch MacBook will arrive with modern specs:

  • It will have the 8th generation Kaby Lake chipsets which are famous for speeding up every task and enhancing the video streaming quality;
  • In what graphics is concerned, the new MacBook might be released with Gen11 integrated graphics. This is Intel’s new creation, so it boosts to support 4K video streaming and content under 8K format;
  • The MacBook will offer 16GB RAM. The storage capacity can be enlarged thanks to USB ports (in this case, we are talking about Type-C or Thunderbolt 3),
  • Connectivity is super-fast – up to 40Gbps;
  • MacBook will come with slimmer bezels and a larger display (possibly OLED for a higher accuracy of colours). This measure is suitable with an updated keyboard.

MacBook Air 2018 to Come Right in Time For Christmas

A lot of rumors state that Apple might launch an inexpensive device the end of this year. Earlier this year we were not sure if this laptop will be a new member of the MacBook Pro series, the MacBook lineup or it will be the replacement of the MacBook Air 2018.

All the leaks mentioned for the MacBook Air 2018 have been confirmed by a recent report, according to MacRumors. Quanta, the Taiwanese-based manufacturer, will make some new low-cost notebooks possibly for Apple.

Both Compal and Quanta are expected to ship as much as 10 million units for Apple and HP.

What will the new notebook be like?

Bloomberg News reporter Mark Gurman speculates that this new notebook will be a MacBook Air model measuring 13 inches at the possible cost of $999 or maybe less in the United States.

The current MacBook Air has a very similar prize to this new model. The new model might be another addition to the MacBook lineup. The current models which measure 12 inches come with the price of $1299.

Some other rumors

This September the tech giant Apple will also unveil a trio of iPhones the iPhone 9, iPhone 11 and iPhone X Plus, but the computing products might be reserved for October.

In October the company will introduce an iPad Pro with the new Face ID technology, a new Apple Pencil, and also the new MacBook.

The Mac lineup will be quietly launched with a lack of a media event, almost in the same way in which the new MacBook Pro laptops that got an eighth-generation processor from Intel.

Get ready for a new MacBook Pro, and maybe Santa will bring one to you if you are on the nice.

MacBook Pro 2019 Leaks – New Keyboard, Ports and LTE

A not Air nor Pro MacBook was introduced by Apple in 2015 which did not feature enough ports, and that introduced the USB-C.

The MacBook Pro released in 2016 came along with these changes and a few additions such us Touch ID, an OLED-screen Touch Bar and the most appreciated DCI-P3 display.

In 2017, however, the only change in MacBooks and MacBooks Pro was the improved Intel Kaby Lake processors.

2018 was significantly better with the introduction of a 3d generation keyboard, Coffee Lake processors with six cores and the TrueTone.

Now it is the time to make some assumptions regarding 2019.

Will the keyboard improve?

Whether you hate the MacBook and MacBook Pro keyboards or you love them, in 2018 they were updated, but it is still to be seen what will happen to them in 2019.

Will the keyboard be replaced with a multi-force-touch surface?

Even though it is not the first time we hear this rumor, it still frightens us even though our brain could be tricked into feeling dials, keys, nobs and other methods of controlling rather than a keyboard.

Will MacBook have more ports?

Because Apple failed to make the MacBook wireless, it still has a USB-C which is used for both charging the device and carrying data. It does not satisfy the public because wireless charging is not possible yet and they also suffer from a lack of LTE and Bluetooth’s inability to support a broader range of peripherals.

We are not sure if the next MacBook will come with more ports or no ports.

Any change of receiving LTE?

that to happen, the macOS will need to have an addition of a mobile mode feature which is kind of a hard change for Qualcomm to make so it will take a while until our wish fulfilled.

A change in Intel processors?

Even though Intel is struggling to improve, Apple will surely stick to whatever they release new.

What to Do When Your MacBook is Slow?

Every tool that we use can get stale or outright bad with time, losing its ability to perform the intended task with past ease and smoothness. If we look at knives, we will all agree that even when we cut the softest materials with it, the edge gets more obtuse with every motion. It is a normal practice, and that is how things work, everything that we touch will get worse with years, especially if we misuse it and dismiss the need to do anything radical about it. The same thing applies to smart technologies. That despite unlimited functional potential still needs a bit of help and care from its owner. MacBooks are no different, and you need to find out exactly what to do when Macbook is running slow!

An Approach To Take

If you can identify that your expensive device is running slowly, then you have the ability to feel when the machine is underperforming. Lots of Mac users who are strangers with technologies can’t even tell if it’s a good speed or not, they don’t have the experience to tell you for certain. It also should be mentioned that speed is a relative thing. A snail-like pace for pro user will be a rapid breeze for someone who only learns the ropes of the gadget. Even in a situation like that you can find positives! To help your machine and yourself you can run through working steps that don’t require you to be a genius or an electronics guru. If you aspire to become one, then try to solve the issue yourself, before talking to workers that will ask for a bit of money in exchange for repairing services. Nobody was an expert from the start!

Tackling The Issue

By facing the problem one on one, you would still need a bit of advice and guidance not to inflict any harm to your operating system. Most of the users are afraid just of that, and they opt to delegate the chores to someone with the working hands and brain when it comes to MacBooks. There is also an option to do nothing, but that’s the lazy way out. It isn’t right when your expensive equipment is working below its standards. Picture a situation where you would be forced to wait in line to fuel your car or explore the fridge that belongs only to you. Waiting and procrastinating will only aggravate the already apparent problems, as items on your MacBook pile up and garbage the storages. Your hard drive could be bloated on files, your cache can be packed. There could be a lot of programs that are running themselves without your permission or knowledge, is that how you wish to leave things be?

Easy Steps To Boost Productivity

Let’s explore some of the most reasons behind a slow Mac. At the helm of the pack, there is a weight issue or a file overload on the hard drive. To increase the overall speed of the MacBook, you logically have to cut down the unnecessary luggage and relieve the pressure from the processor. Chances are you don’t understand what exactly is slowing down the overall speed. The best way to analyze the MacBook performance is to use the additional software that will direct you in the right direction.

Special apps will gather the information about the content on the device, inform you about the surplus things and clean them up for you! You won’t have to worry that you deleted something important. You can always go on a deleting spree manually, the safest route is to hunt for the multimedia items like photos, music and videos you no longer need.

Possibly your system just didn’t age well. You don’t have enough RAM or you dodged all the updates the system told you about and offered with annoying persistence. Those pop-up windows warn you for a reason, and as much as updates will make your system work slower at first, the upgrades will play a big role in revitalizing your MacBook. An abundance of unwanted log in items might make your gadget slow as well. Going to the Users & Groups section of System Preferences will lead you to a list of utilities that boot themselves, you just need to untick the unwanted applications! Just switching some of your savings on a flash memory card will help you clean up your desktop, resulting in a swifter navigating at all times!
