LG Smartphone With A Second Display Attachment Might Launch At MWC 2019

Reportedly, LG would launch a smartphone with a second display attachment at MWC 2019 in Barcelona, in February. The information came from an internal source, according to CNET. According to the rumors, LG would launch a device with a sort of a case that would be nothing else than a second screen which would double the real size of the unannounced LG smartphone’s display.

However, the rumored LG smartphone would not be a folding smartphone, but it would be a regular phone with a second display attachment, meaning that it will use two completely separate screens.

This LG smartphone with a second display attachment would be just one of the many devices the South Korean tech company will unveil at the MWC 2019 in Barcelona. However, the source cited by CNET did not reveal the name of the rumored double-screened smartphone that LG will reportedly roll out at MWC 2019.

LG Smartphone With A Second Display Attachment Might Launch At MWC 2019

“While the company is mulling the G8 name, it’s unclear whether the multiple-screen phone will carry the name of its flagship line. There’s a chance that one of the more conventional-looking devices will carry the G8 ThinQ name instead, but that hasn’t been decided on,” reported CNET.

Also, as CNET reported, some confusion spread online after a report appeared on the Korean-language outlet Naver. According to the portal, LG would plan to launch a folding smartphone to get a share of this emerging market, currently led by Samsung, which would roll out its Galaxy F on February 20th, Lenovo, with its Motorola Razr “remake,” and other manufacturers.

However, according to the latest rumors, LG would not launch a folding smartphone but might unveil at MWC 2019 the LG smartphone with a second display attachment we’ve talked about above. Undoubtedly, we will have an exciting MWC this year.

At the moment, as reported by The Wall Street Journal, the Lenovo’s folding smartphone, dubbed as Motorola Razr “remake,” is under testing. Also, the Chinese manufacturer kept this project hidden from the eye of leakers, so no rumors have come out on that device. We know nothing about it, except for what The Wall Street Journal reported about it.

The original Motorola Razr V3 came out in 2004 and sold 130 million units worldwide. It was a thin, flip phone, with 3G and was really successful during its times. The latest Razr version launched in 2005, but it was not as successful as the first one.

But, a recent leak from Samsung confirmed, reportedly, that two other models might come out on that date. More specifically, we’re talking about the Galaxy S10 Special Edition and Galaxy F, Samsung’s folding smartphone.

The reliable Dutch site GalaxyClub revealed that, allegedly, Samsung leaked some information regarding two of its upcoming Galaxy models. According to the website, the “EB-BF900ABA,” “EB-BF901ABA,” and “EB-BG977ABU” are the serial numbers of the batteries of the Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy models.

Even more interesting, EB-BG977ABU, as GalaxyClub stated, is linked to the Samsung Galaxy S10 Special Edition device which, reportedly, is 5G network compatible, and it hints to a 5,000-mAh accumulator. On the other hand, both EB-BF900ABA and EB-BF901ABA are connected to the Galaxy F (Samsung’s folding smartphone), and they are 3,100-mAh batteries.

Samsung Leaked Battery Serial Numbers Reportedly Confirmed Galaxy S10 Special Edition and Galaxy F Folding Smartphone

The battery serial numbers leaked by Samsung and spotted by the Dutch site GalaxyClub, namely, “EB-BF900ABA,” “EB-BF901ABA,” and “EB-BG977ABU,” hint to the accumulators of Samsung Galaxy S10 Special Edition, which is compatible with the 5G network, and Galaxy F, the South Korean company’s first folding smartphone.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S10 Plus device would come with a Galaxy Note 9-matching 4,000 mAh battery and the standard Galaxy S10 model would boast 3,500-mAh accumulator. Besides, the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite would sport only a 3,100-mAh battery.

As for the price of the anniversary S10 series and the Galaxy F device, undoubtedly, the Samsung Galaxy S10 Special Edition and the first Samsung’s folding smartphone, Galaxy F, would cost more than the other models of the Galaxy S10 lineup which, alone, would be quite expensive.

Samsung’s Folding Smartphone Might Be Presented At The Company’s Conference On November 7th

A Samsung official reiterated that the South Korean giant tech company intends to unveil its long-awaited folding smartphone this week at the company’s developer-only conference, as Reuters announced.

The anonymous Samsung official admitted that it a “different approach” is applicable for the Samsung’s first folding smartphone in comparison to consumer launches that the company is choosing for its flagship smartphones, he said that it was necessary because “the foldable smartphone is a completely new concept in terms of design and user experience.”

Although we don’t expect a final release of the so-called Samsung Galaxy F foldable phone, we hope to see the phone’s GUI, alongside the first detailed images of the new smartphone. Maybe, a developer model would also be sent to the devs. That should be enough information for them to start developing applications, even if it is not enough to convince commercial users to buy a device that could easily cost about $2,000.

Samsung’s First Folding Smartphone Might Be Presented At The Company’s Conference On November 7th

If the rumors are right, the announcement of Samsung’s first folding smartphone will come at the end of a difficult year for the mobile division of the South Korean tech giant, as its global market share for smartphones declined by about 13% in the last quarter, compared to 2017, while its recent flagship series underperformed against Huawei and Xiaomi devices.

Samsung’s latest report on its own market results suggests that a folding smartphone could be a way to strengthen its competitiveness, but in 2019, which also marks the 10th anniversary of Samsung Galaxy series with Samsung Galaxy S10. It is, therefore, a good time for Samsung to unveil its new foldable smartphone which would launch next year.

We will find out more about the next plans the South Korean tech giant has at Samsung’s conference which is scheduled to start on November 7th at 1:00 PM (EST).

Royole FlexPai, The World’s First Folding Smartphone, Tested, And It’s Working

While Samsung is preparing the announcement of its folding phone, the Chinese company Royole presented officially the world’s first folding smartphone, the Royole FlexPai, at an event held in San Francisco where the business has one of its headquarters. The folks from the Verge tested the device and reported the results on their site.

The Royole FlexPai is a 78-inch hybrid foldable smartphone that can turn into a phone from a tablet and vice-versa. However, according to The Verge, the world’s first folding smartphone is by far behind the modern-day high-end smartphones, but nobody can take away from it the achievement of becoming the first foldable smartphone in the world.

The FlexPai will be available in China at a starting price of 8,999 yuan (around $1,300). Also, a developer version would be released across North America. For about $1,3000 you’ll get a variant of FlexPai with 6 Gb of RAM and 128 Gb of internal storage. You can pay an extra $150 to get the version with 8 Gb of RAM.

Also, Royole FlexPai operates with a 2.8 GHz, eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and boasts a 3,800-mAh battery. Both variants of the world’s first folding smartphone are now available for pre-orders on the Royole official website. According to the company, the devices will be shipped starting with December.

“The software seemed extremely sluggish, apps continuously opened accidentally, and the orientation kept changing randomly when one of the Royole representatives was demonstrating the folding process. That, to me, indicates that the company’s custom Water OS (a fork of Android 9.0, Royole says) is probably not the most robust operating system just yet,” said Nick Statt from The Verge.

On the other hand, Royole stated that FlexPai, the world’s first folding smartphone, is guaranteed for 200,000 foldings. They, however, did not specify what happens afterward.
