Should We Get a Dark Mode for iOS 13 and Its Apps?

We all know that apps drain out our batteries from our phones really bad. But there’s also proof that apps, when used with darker colors, such as gray or black, drain less battery. We think we can make the most out of that.

It happened at a recent Android Dev Summit event, when Google talked about the colors that are used in the apps, and how they have a huge impact on the battery life of the smartphone, and how bright colors, include white, help us say goodbye to our batteries.

Google made a test

They used an original Pixel phone to see how and what was draining the battery. Brightness represented one of the factors (and it’s an obvious one). Every human being literally knows that if your screen in bright, your battery depletes faster.

But the important thing is actually the use of color. If you choose to switch to night mode, you’ll help in conserving the life of the battery.

It might not be that noticeable on the phones that have LCD screens, as the whole display is backlit, but when it comes to power savings from phones that have OLED display, such an iPhone X, Samsung, Pixels, we can see a difference. This happens because the OLED screens are not exactly backlit like LCD screens are. They have a uniform level of brightness. With OLED screen, you get an on and off state. So the pixel turns on and uses power when there’s any other color but black. The black pixel is off, hence blacks are important when it comes to the OLED screen, in comparison with LCDs – they are not even lit up.

This is why we need a dark mode, or apps that have the choice to use the dark mode.

iOS 13 Leaks and Rumors – What To Expect From iOS 13?

In 2018, Apple launched a series of new smartphones, such as iPhone Xs, Xs Max, iPhone XR, and a new Apple Watch Series 4. Besides, the Cupertino-based company also rolled out its new iOS 12 with many fresh features and functions. However, iOS 13 leaks and rumors have already emerged on the Internet. What to expect from iOS 13?

Since iOS 7, Apple did not implement many changes in its OS for mobile devices. Year after year, Apple only added some features and new functions but, overall, there is nothing notable regarding the changes the tech giant added to iOS.

According to Mark Gorman, a Bloomberg contributor, the upcoming iOS 13, allegedly codenamed “Yukon,” would boast an entirely different Home Screen with new icons. Gorman also confirmed some iOS 13 leaks and rumors reported by Axios, such as the enhanced photo-taking, editing and sharing, and a new mail and in-car user interface.

iOS 13 Leaks and Rumors – What To Expect From iOS 13?

Last time Apple implemented a Home Screen change was in iOS 7, back in 2013. Accordingly, the modifications debated by Mark Gorman would be the most significant in 5 years.

Miami Morning Star reported that the following features would most likely come to iOS 13:

  • cross-platform support between the next iOS and macOS 10.15;
  • a new set of emojis;
  • new and enhanced Apple Pencil;

However, there is nothing official on the future iOS 13, so many of these iOS 13 leaks and rumors might turn out to be fake, eventually. As for the iOS 13 release date, we don’t yet know when the new Apple’s OS version for mobile devices would come out. But, Apple might present the new iOS 13 version during its WWCD.

Accordingly, since the Apple WWCD event is set for June 2019, we might have a worldwide available iOS 13 version by September next year. Of course, in the meantime, many iOS leaks and rumors would come out.

The Best iOS 13 Concept So Far

The new version of software iOS 12 was recently released by Apple and is taking in consideration to fix the bugs users have noticed in the final build. However, users and concept designers have already started looking forward to the next year’s iOS 13. The iOS 12 best features focus mainly on performance and stability, boosting speed and reliability on older iPhones and iPads. The iOS 13 is expected to bring new concept and possible changes in the software.

iOS 13 will not be announced until WWDC 2019, which will take place in June and the prolonged beta testing phase in September 2019 estimated by the pattern Apple has been following for the last few years.

Jacob Rendina, concept creator has posted an iOS 13 concept video on YouTube that features some practical changes users would love to see in the upcoming version. The new features are linked to an improved multitasking on iPads and the ability to run two apps side by side on the iPhone XS that will match their giant screen sizes.

The iOS 13 concept has an upgrade in privacy for apps, which will allow the user to lock them with a password or fingerprint. It will also come with a new version of Notes app that allows you to ass notes right on the home screen. On iPads, a new Dashboard would be combining the Control Center and Notification Center.

In the video, the new software comes with a multi-user support that allows people to log in on different accounts on the same iPhone or iPad but each user would only be able to access their own photos, contacts and apps.

The Dark Mode is a feature added from macOS Mojave and seeing it in the video looks awesome and from Android the concept Always On Display.

But we have to be realistic that these concepts might not make it to the final iOS 13 even if users demand it.

The iOS 13 is rumored to focus on iPads since last year iOS 11 was all about it and this year iOS 12 largely focused on iPhones. An upgrade and update Files app and a home screen redesign, since a lot of the screen is unused is expected for iPad.

According to Mark Gurman, Bloomberg contributor, the next software will have the ability to work with multiple windows in the same app side by side and a home screen redesign is also considerate and is reportedly titled Springboard.

The rumors claim that an Apple Pencil improvement will happen next year, but this is a bit unclear on how Apple would to that. Also, it was rumored the debut this year of the new Project Marzipan, that combines the APIs of its desktop and mobile operating systems, but it seems to be delayed as Apple wanted to focus on performance and stability of iOS 12. This project allows developers to create a single app that would work across iPhones, iPads and Macs.

Since Apple is a member of Emoji Consortium, the iOS 13 is expected to bring tons of new emojis such as the ones Emoji Consortium potential emojis released for 2019. These emojis include a variety of skin colors, hot and cold faces, hair options, more animals, a lab coat, new footwear and new food items.

iOS 13 Emojis Available For Everyone To See

Emojis are more popular than ever. Therefore, it comes as no surprise the fact that Apple is working on some new ones. More than 150 emojis are on their way, and it appears that we will receive them in 2019.

The Emoji Version 12.0 list will be ready next year, in March. It appears that iPhone and iPad users might not be the first ones to use them, as the character might be used in other venues first. One way to identify an unknown symbol is by pasting it into the Emojipedia search field.

So far the emojis that were revealed are just candidates, and it is up to Apple whether they will be included in an update. As Apple emojis are some of the most important, it will be interesting to see which will be the choices.

Possible new emojis

The list of candidates includes various emojis, from new expressions to animals and body parts. For example, we might receive a partying face, a pleading face, a woozy face, a hot face, as well as a cold face. There is also a face that is in love, which has three small hearts.

The list of emojis also includes various choices for hair, including curly hair, ginger hair, white hair or even the option of being bald. All these emojis are available in all skin tones. There are also some supervillain emojis, as well as some superhero ones.

You will also spot a lab coat emoji, a parrot, a badger, a swan, a raccoon, a lobster, a kangaroo, a llama and a hippo. On the list, we can also see a broom emoji, a magnet emoji, a microbe emoji and a soap one. There are also other miscellaneous objects such as a ball of yarn or a safety pin.

What Kind of Magic will bring iOS 13 For Mac?

Apple has made a lot of people fall in love with their products because there are selling devices that are running only one operating system, they are easy to use and you don’t have to fuss with the diversity of products. All these points taken has made Apple be the winner at selling their devices.

From the end of last year, we know that iOS 12 will be the one that will make a difference and we will have apps that will work with iPhone, IPad and Mac. Because it’s not happening anymore, we have to wait for the grand entry of iOS 13.

John Gruber and his sources affirm that the project exists and it’s under construction. It even has a codename “Marzipan”, but the real name of the project hadn’t escaped the rooms of secrets.

Also, the Apple fan Gruber, says that he’s sure that we will not see “Marizpan” at WWDC this year and it will be delayed for MacOS 10.15 and iOS 13 in 2019.

It’s unsatisfying that we will not get our hands on this new characteristic as soon as possible, but maybe the waiting it’s a good thing after all, because we can get more stability and quality versus fast updates and features that fails and needs fixes all the time.

We are looking forward with enthusiasm to see the new app features, even if we’re having already a good functionality between iOS and Mac devices, but with the plus of apps that will work on both operating systems may make it a child’s play and an easy passage from our phones to our desktop and vice versa.

The date of the release it’s getting closer and closer, 2019 is coming soon and we are very enthusiastic about the new features of iOS 13. Until then we will find out more information and if the iOS 13 will be the game-changer with his new operating system.

The cross-platform app functionality will be the ace up the sleeve with the release of the 2019 version of iOS.
