Dark Mode for iOS is already available on unc0ver’s jailbreak version 3.2

The new iOS 13 has been officially announced, and its Dark Mode feature is the main element people are anxiously waiting for. The mode is said to be a working system-wide and on all the native applications. The feature won’t, however, be available until later this year, but thanks to unc0ver developing team, a jailbreak that features it has been released. The version of the jailbreak is numbered 3.2.

As if to take over the reported addition of Dark Mode in the iOS 13, hacking team unc0ver has released their version 3.2 of the jailbreak at the beginning of this month. The release of the jailbreak came a few days before the 2019 WWDC, and it has been found that the rumor is correct. The mode is going to be available for the iPhone, but it will take a few months for users to have access to it.

However, jailbreak fans have an alternative, as the hacking leader @Pwn20wnd and unc0ver his team has released the version 3.2. By offering the newest jailbreak tool, the team also enabled users to a user interface that is not sanctioned by Apple. Unc0ver has therefore decided to mirror a feature that Apple has announced with the upcoming iOS 13.

Apple stated that the Dark Mode was created to offer an excellent viewing experience, particularly in low-light environments. Dark Mode is a feature with system-wide function, and it will be incorporated on native iOS applications but third-party apps as well. However, non-Apple applications have to be re-coded by their developers to allow the feature to function on iOS 13.

Unc0ver’s Dark Mode has the same difficulty, as the incorporation of the feature will depend on the update to be performed by apps and adjustments providers on Cydia. Still, Dark Mode on a jailbreak already is the sure evidence that Apple is sometimes lagging behind independent developers.

Apple has claimed that even though iOS 13 can be installed on the majority of its devices, there are a few models that will be exempted. This means that the upcoming iOS 13 will not be available for install on the iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and the iPod Touch beginning with the sixth generation and down.

The jailbreak tool which contains the Dark Mode, however, will be available on devices running on iOS versions 11.0 to 12.1.2.

How to Jailbreak iOS 12 – 12.3

Currently, the most advanced iOS jailbreak is the one for iOS 12 – 12.1.2; none is currently available for iOS 12.2 to 12.3. Therefore, this tutorial will show you how to jailbreak iOS 12 – 12.1.2.

Although iOS 12 hosts an interesting set of features, it can’t execute functions like “installation of iFIle” and “customization of Messages among others”, which are only supported on jailbroken iOS devices.

To Jailbreak your iOS 12 – 12.3 device, follow the guides herein.

How to Jailbreak iOS 12 – 12.3

iOS 12.3, which was released two weeks back, on May 13, is the latest and most advanced version of Apple’s iOS. However, there is currently no jailbreak for this version, and there probably won’t be any, as iOS 13 Beta launches later this year (in June). Therefore, we’ll be showing you the next best thing – the jailbreak for iOS 12 – 12.1.2.

Two basic methods are commonly employed here. They include:

Method 1: Using Chinera

If your device is running on the A12 chipset (iPhone XR/XS/XS Max), Chinera is the ideal tool for you.

To jailbreak your iPhone using Chinera, follow the guidelines below:

  • Navigate to fun on your device.
  • Search for ‘Chinera’ and install it.
  • Navigate to Device Management under Settings.
  • Locate “Electra” (Chinera’s developer), tap on it and enable the “trust the certificate” option.
  • Launch Chinera.
  • Find the “Jailbreak” icon and tap on it.
  • Wait for the jailbreak to run (it might take some time).
  • Restart device once the process is complete.

Your iPhone/iPad should now be jailbroken; you can now enjoy the exclusive tweaks it offers.

Method 2: Using Unc0ver

This is best suited for jailbreaking iPhones and iPads running on A7 – A12. This basically covers all iOS devices from iPhone 5S to iPhone X.

To jailbreak your iOS device using Unc0ver, follow the steps below:

  • Go to fun; search for and install Unc0ver.
  • Go to Device Management and “trust the certificate” for Unc0ver’s developer.
  • Launch Unc0ver and tap on the “jailbreak” icon.
  • If you encounter any glitch, reboot device and restart the process.
  • Allow the jailbreak to finish.
  • Restart device.

Note: Before running a jailbreak, remove all iOS 12 OTA files from your device, and back up all essential files to iCloud or iTunes.

Can’t Search for Old Texts in Messages After iPhone Update or Restore

Can’t search for old texts in messages after iPhone update or restore? This tutorial will show you a workaround.

As gathered from several sources, some iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch users find it difficult to search/access old texts after an update/restore. Typically, only texts that came in or are sent after the update/restore are displayed in Messages.

However, you need not worry much; your old texts are safe, and we’ll be showing you how to access them in this tutorial.

Fix: Can’t Search for Old Texts in Messages After iPhone Update or Restore

Basically, when this happens, the update/restore has somehow reconfigured your device’s search index, such that only recent text messages comes up.

Therefore, to bring up old texts in search results, you’d have to reconfigure the search index or reverse the changes made to it. To do this, try the methods outlined below.

Method 1: Enable Search & Siri Suggestions

Follow these steps to do that:

  • Open Settings and select Siri & Search.
  • Go to Messages; locate and disable Search & Siri Suggestions.
  • Restart device.
  • Go back and re-enable Search & Siri Suggestions.

After few seconds, check the Messages app and see if old texts now come up fine.

Method 2: Change Device’s Language

Old texts still not coming up? try this:

  • Navigate to Settings and select General.
  • Tap on Language & Region and change it to a different option.
  • Go back to Settings and select Siri & Search.
  • Tap on Language and set to the newly selected language.
  • Exit Settings and reopen it.
  • Reverse the previous changes under Language & Region and Siri & Search.

Old texts still not coming up? Try the next fix.

Method 3: Send a new text to an old recipient

This is a simple trick. By sending a new text message to an old recipient, all previous texts (or conversation/thread) to/from that person should now come up fine in search results.

Method 4: Re-enable iMessage

To do this:

  • Tap on Settings
  • Select Messages
  • Locate iMessage and disable it, and then re-enable after 20 – 30 seconds.

Check if this resolves the issue.

Ultimately, if the issue persists, you can back up your device’s files/data (to iCloud), reset phone, and then restore data/files from backup storage (iCloud). With this, old texts should now come up fine.
