New 16-inch MacBook Pro, Along With a 32-inch 6K Monitor, To Come Out in 2019

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a reputable Apple analyst, Apple would launch a new 16-inch MacBook Pro and a 32-inch 6K monitor this year. The information went online thanks to MacRumors, a tech news portal, which, reportedly, obtained a release note from Kuo.

Apple Would Launch a New 16-inch MacBook Pro in 2019

This year’s MacBook lineup would be focused on a new 16-inch MacBook Pro which would be the largest laptop made by Apple since the company has shut down the production of 17-inch MacBooks in 2012.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the MacBook Pro in question might eventually come out with a 16.5-inch display. Also, the 2019 MacBook series would also sport a 13-inch model with support for up to 32 Gb of RAM, an amount that, until now, can only be mounted on the 15-inch MacBook Pro variant.

Ming-Chi Kuo’s statements seem to be in line with those of Apple’s Phil Schiller who declared in 2017 that, “with regards to the Mac Pro, we are in the process of what we call ‘completely rethinking the Mac Pro.’ We’re working on it. We have a team working hard on it right now, and we want to architect it so that we can keep it fresh with regular improvements, and we’re committed to making it our highest-end, high-throughput desktop system, designed for our demanding pro customers.”

A 32-inch 6K Monitor Might Also Come Out This Year From Apple, Ming-Chi Kuo Believes

Apple ceased the production and sale of displays in 2016 when the Cupertino-based company rolled out the Thunderbolt Display. Until now, no other monitor made by Apple reached the shelves of the stores, so it might be the right time for the tech giant to come up with something special.

And according to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is going to launch a 32-inch 6K monitor in 2019, along with the 16-inch MacBook Pro. Kuo referred to this display as “6k3k,” as reported by MacRumors. That’s also in line with what Phil Schiller stated back in 2017: “As part of doing a new Mac Pro – it is, by definition, a modular system – we will be doing a pro display as well. Now you won’t see any of those products this year; we’re in the process of that. We think it’s essential to create something great for our pro customers who want a Mac Pro modular system, and that’ll take longer than this year to do.”

MacBook Pro vs. 2-in-1 detachable Surface Book – Best and Long-Lasting Device Comparison

The Surface Book is not a tablet which can turn into a laptop but a laptop that has a detachable keyboard, so it is different from the Surface Pro 4, the tablet which can be connected to a Type Cover. On the other hand, the MacBook Pro is a notebook which has a Retina display, representing the smaller version which was released a few years ago.

Which one do you think it’s better? The MacBook Pro, which comes with a Force Touch trackpad or the more expensive Surface Book, which also supports pen functions?

First, let’s talk about design. The Surface Book comes with a sleek exterior made from a silver magnesium alloy. By using a special hinge, you can attach the removable display to the keyboard. This hinge impresses through flexibility and balance maintenance.

The Macbook Pro looks similar to the previous models in terms of design. The exterior is made from aluminum, its edges are slim and the corners curved. In order to avoid it becoming obsolete or boring, the design should improve a bit.

The MacBook Pro offers 2 USB 3.0 ports, an SD card slot, 2 Thunderbolt 2 ports and an HDMI port, while the Surface Book ships with a MiniDisplay port, 2 USB 3.0 ports, an SD card slot and  Surface Connect port through which it can connect to the optional Surface Dock.

The displays are similar in size, the Pro’s measuring 13.3 inches, while the Surface Book’s has 13.5 inches. When it comes to color representation, Surface Book’s capabilities are better, reproducing 98.5 percent of the sRGB color gamut, as opposed to the Pro’s lower percentage of 91.2.

The Book comes with Intel’s sixth generation i5, while the Macbook uses the fifth generation. Still, on the Geekbench 3 performance test, the Macbook beat Surface, having the score of 7113 as opposed to the Book’s 6814. The battery life is similar, both averaging 12 hours of lifespan.

MacBook Pro 2019 Leaks – New Keyboard, Ports and LTE

A not Air nor Pro MacBook was introduced by Apple in 2015 which did not feature enough ports, and that introduced the USB-C.

The MacBook Pro released in 2016 came along with these changes and a few additions such us Touch ID, an OLED-screen Touch Bar and the most appreciated DCI-P3 display.

In 2017, however, the only change in MacBooks and MacBooks Pro was the improved Intel Kaby Lake processors.

2018 was significantly better with the introduction of a 3d generation keyboard, Coffee Lake processors with six cores and the TrueTone.

Now it is the time to make some assumptions regarding 2019.

Will the keyboard improve?

Whether you hate the MacBook and MacBook Pro keyboards or you love them, in 2018 they were updated, but it is still to be seen what will happen to them in 2019.

Will the keyboard be replaced with a multi-force-touch surface?

Even though it is not the first time we hear this rumor, it still frightens us even though our brain could be tricked into feeling dials, keys, nobs and other methods of controlling rather than a keyboard.

Will MacBook have more ports?

Because Apple failed to make the MacBook wireless, it still has a USB-C which is used for both charging the device and carrying data. It does not satisfy the public because wireless charging is not possible yet and they also suffer from a lack of LTE and Bluetooth’s inability to support a broader range of peripherals.

We are not sure if the next MacBook will come with more ports or no ports.

Any change of receiving LTE?

that to happen, the macOS will need to have an addition of a mobile mode feature which is kind of a hard change for Qualcomm to make so it will take a while until our wish fulfilled.

A change in Intel processors?

Even though Intel is struggling to improve, Apple will surely stick to whatever they release new.

The New MacBook Pro vs. Surface Book 2 – Comparing Price and Performance

People who are planning to purchase a laptop need to make the tough decision of picking between Apple and Microsoft. These two tech giants rule the laptop industry and it’s nearly impossible to determine which one offers better devices. However, today we are going to take a closer look at the performance and price that the new MacBook Pro offers and compare it against Microsoft’s latest Surface Book 2 in order to give readers an idea of which laptop suits their needs better.

The New MacBook Pro

Just like you would expect from an Apple-made product, the new MacBook Pro is quite expensive. The laptop sports the same price as last year, thus featuring a price tag of $2,399 for the 15-inches model. This is the starting price and it offers a 2.2GHz hexa-core Intel Core i7 processor which can be upgraded to the more powerful 2.9GHz hexa-core Intel Core i9 processor.

Both processors are from Intel’s latest Coffee Lake eight generation lineup and they are paired with 16GB of DDR4 RAM which can be expanded up to 32GB. Moreover, the laptop ships with 256GB of SSD storage space which goes up to 4TB.

Surface Book 2

Surprisingly, Microsoft’s Surface Book 2 is a little bit more expensive than the new MacBook Pro because it sells for $2,499. People who choose to purchase this laptop will receive a much slower 1.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor (8th generation Kaby Lake) which is bundled with a Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics that features 6GB of GDDR5 video memory. Moreover, the laptop ships with 16GB DDR3 of RAM and 256GB of SSD which goes up to 1TB.

Final Words

From the looks of it, Apple clearly has the upper hand with the more powerful and cheaper laptop. Microsoft needs to step up its game if it wishes to keep competing against Apple’s lineup of MacBook Pro devices.

The First MacBook Pro With Retina Display is Now Vintage

Six years ago, back on June 11 2012, Apple revealed its first MacBook Pro with a Retina display. The device was unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference. This notebook was highly appreciated back then, and it was even called “the best laptop ever made” by Marco Arment.

The design of this model was a lot slimmer than the previous ones and that is because it did not have the optical disc drive for DVDs and CDs as well as the built-in Ethernet port. However, this does not mean that it did not have plenty of connectivity options,, such an HDMI port, an SD card slot, a pair of USB-A and Thunderbolt ports and a MagSafe power adapter.

Vintage

Six years have passed since the first MacBook Pro with Retina Display was revealed and Apple has now declared it vintage. This means that Apple and Apple Authorized Service Providers no longer have to provide replacement parts and hardware service for it. The only exceptions are Turkey and California when the law forces them to do it.

The list for vintage and obsolete products is updated constantly, as more and more devices begin to age. At the moment, the late 2012 model, the 12-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display is not listed as vintage yet. For now, only the July 2010 15-inch model is classified as obsolete.

If you still own this device you should know that Apple will no longer help you if  you have hardware problems. Nonetheless, the team should provide all the help you need if you have questions about macOS. Software troubleshooting should also be provided if needed. It is sad to see an era end, but since six years have passed it is normal that Apple moved on.
