Samsung Might Be Working On Its Own Gaming Smartphone

Samsung is presently developing a number of new handsets that would further reinforce its leadership in the smartphone market against rivals like Apple and Huawei. One of the devices the giant South Korean tech company is working on might be Samsung gaming smartphone.

While the details are still unclear at the time of writing, a Samsung Mobile News tweet, an informal Twitter feed that occasionally distributes information about the South Korean giant’s latest products, discloses that a Samsung gaming smartphone is in the making.

From a technical point of view, what Samsung may be considering doing is to leverage its Galaxy line-up to build a smartphone that is specifically tuned for games, most probably with a more powerful battery, RAM, and more storage.

Allegedly, Samsung is working on a gaming smartphone

At the moment some people are speculating that the Samsung gaming smartphone may be a secret Galaxy phone which would boast a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and 8 GB of RAM. It is highly possible that the South Korean tech company would also adopt technologies from other devices, such as the cooling system of the Galaxy Note 9, in an effort to deliver a seamless gaming experience.

It will also be exciting to know what Samsung has chosen for the display of this model as the curved edges of the S9 series are not the most suitable for a dedicated gaming smartphone.

On the other hand, the gaming smartphone market is increasing significantly lately, so the leading phone manufacturer in the world, Samsung, could not ignore this segment. Accordingly, a Samsung gaming smartphone would be the next logical step for the South Korean giant tech company.

A Samsung gaming smartphone might be announced next month

While it’s still early to know much about this alleged Samsung gaming smartphone, some rumors say that the tech giant might announce it next month during Samsung’s developer-only conference of November where the company would also present its Galaxy X foldable smartphone.

Upcoming Samsung Foldable Phone Would Open Up As A Tablet

DJ Koh, the CEO of mobile business at the South Korean tech giant, reported in an interview on CNET that the upcoming Samsung foldable phone would have dual functionality. According to him, the so-called Galaxy F would be a smartphone that can open up as a tablet, so that owners can use it as they want.

Samsung has been working on a foldable phone since 2013. Even more, during CES 2013, the Senior VP of Samsung’s display department, Brian Berkeley, presented a prototype of a folding screen, a super slim OLED display called Youm. Back then, the prototype was bending instead of folding.

However, as DJ Koh pointed out, since 2013, Samsung made many achievements in this direction, and now the Galaxy F foldable phone is just around the corner. Also, according to DJ Koh, the upcoming Samsung foldable phone would open up as a tablet.

Samsung Foldable Phone Is Not The Only Such Project

While Samsung, via DJ Koh, reported on their achievement in the folding screen smartphone field, they are the only company working on such a project. Also, Huawei and LG are struggling to come up with their own foldable smartphones, and both companies are the fiercest competitor to Samsung in this regard.

Besides, Lenovo already presented its bendable phone concept, while Apple filed a patent for “Electronic Devices With Flexible Displays” a few years ago.

On the other hand, even though Samsung would want to be the first to launch a foldable phone, DJ Koh said on CNET that “if the user experience is not up to my standard, I don’t want to deliver those kinds of products.” Accordingly, the South Korean tech giant is not willing to sacrifice quality for just being the first in a new market.

Despite all that, some rumors hinted to the next month’s Samsung Developer Conference as the event during which the Samsung foldable phone would be revealed.

Samsung Revealed its Galaxy A9 Model, The First Smartphone With Four Cameras On Its Back

Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy A9 model which would be the first smartphone in the world with four cameras on its back. The company announced the new device earlier and also revealed that the handset would come out in one variant with 128 Gb of internal storage.

Among other features, Samsung Galaxy A9 would boast the Bixby virtual assistant, payment service Samsung Pay and fitness tracker Samsung Health.

“As a global leader in smartphone innovation, we understand the demand for meaningful innovation in a fast-paced world driven by visual communication,” stated DJ Koh, president and chief executive of the IT and mobile communications at Samsung Electronics. “Building on our legacy in smartphone camera development we’re introducing next-generation technology across our entire Galaxy portfolio to give more consumers the opportunity to experience cutting-edge innovation,” he added.

Also, earlier this year Koh told CNBC that Samsung is planning on including cutting-edge technologies in its mid-range smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy A9 Model To Be The First Smartphone With Four Cameras On Its Back

According to the recent news on Galaxy A9, the device would be the first smartphone with four cameras on its back in the world. As reported, the Galaxy A9 handset would boast one 24-megapixel sensor with autofocus, a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom for detailed close-ups, an ultra-wide lens, and a depth lens that permits users to manage the photo’s focus and field.

Accordingly, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A9 is the updated version of the Galaxy A7 device which was the first from Samsung to pack triple-camera system on its back.

On the other hand, Samsung joins the competition of enhanced cameras systems launched by Huawei and LG. Now, however, Samsung, along with Apple, its biggest rival in the smartphone industry, is also facing the competition coming from China, such as Xiaomi and ZTE, both struggling to release more performant devices.

New Galaxy S10 Leaks Suggest Four S10 Models And 5G Connectivity

5G is a new field to be conquered by the giants of the smartphone industry. Samsung seems to want to position itself among the first to adopt the new connectivity standard by launching their anniversary Galaxy S10 smartphone with 5G connectivity.

The upcoming 5G seems to be the new challenge which all the tech firms, like Samsung and Huawei, want to address as quickly as possible. And Samsung is no stranger to it if we believe a new leak about the upcoming Galaxy S10 smartphone, which could sign the return of the flat screen, as found by the famous XDA-Developers team.

Keep in mind that anything might change until the new Galaxy S10 hit the shelves, so the final version of the device might not come out with 5G connectivity, eventually.

Samsung Galaxy S10 could boast 5G connectivity, according to the latest leaks made available by XDA-Developers

The XML files from the last update of the Galaxy S9 signal for the presence of not less than four Samsung Galaxy S10 models of the next year. In other words, the South Korean tech giant seems to be counting on a multitude of models for its anniversary flagship. Among these, 5G compatibility could be found, probably in the most expensive model.

These XML files suggest four Galaxy S10 handsets dubbed as Beyond 0, 1, 2 and 2 5G. The latter would also boast the largest screen and would also be equipped with a fingerprint reader under the display. If Samsung is to offer a 5G-compatible model, it would undoubtedly hit the market before or at the same time as Huawei, which seems determined to follow this path after outperforming Apple in the last quarter.

Of course, this information reported by XDA-Developers team should be taken with a grain of salt. However, in the past, the site has been right many times, especially with this method of reading XML files.

Apple iPhone XS Max Vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 9 – Which Is Faster?

The YouTube channel PhoneBuff compared the most recent flagships of Apple and Samsung, namely, the new iPhone XS Max and the new Galaxy Note 9. Now, which one is faster? The technical specs of the two new smartphones look extraordinary, with the iPhone XS Max boasting the new Apple A12 Bionic chip and 4 GB of RAM, while Samsung Galaxy Note 9 packs a Snapdragon 845 chipset backed up by 8 GB of RAM.

In order to compare these smartphones in a quantified and standardized way, benchmark tests are most often used to test the processors and graphics chipsets of phones. A score is then displayed and allows the testers to rank the smartphones in relation to each other. But these figures are still not very useful or meaningful for regular users.

That’s why PhoneBuff tested the iPhone Xs Max and Galaxy Note 9 in real-life conditions by running 16 applications, opened in a row using a robotic arm to prevent human error. So, between Apple iPhone XS Max and Samsung Galaxy Note 9 which one is faster?

Apple iPhone vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 9 – Which one is faster?

Usually, the most recently released device is faster and more performant, in general, than an older gadget. That seems to prove accurate for the comparison between iPhone XS Max and Galaxy Note 9, too, even though Apple’s device came out only one month after Note 9.

iPhone XS Max opened all those 16 applications in just 2 minutes and 33 seconds while Galaxy Note 9 finished the same task in only 2 minutes and 47 seconds. This 14-second difference is explained by the power of the latest chip produced by Apple, A12 Bionic chip, which, as Apple stated before launch, it can open apps by up to 30% faster than the previous generation of chipsets, backed up, of course, but the fluidity of iOS 12.

It will be interesting to see if the A12 Bionic will maintain its lead after Huawei’s Kirin 980s and Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, both 7-nm SoCs, are released on the market.
