Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 To Boast Faster Cores And Triple-Camera Support

Recently, Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 has been officially announced as a mid-range smartphone SoC, but which boasts some high-end features of top-end chipsets. Noteworthy is that its new architecture, Kryo 460, is developed around the ARM Cortex-A76 cores, mainly designed for flagship smartphones but which haven’t yet make it to Qualcomm CPUs. Also, Huawei Kirin 980 uses ARM Cortex-A76.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 will come out with 8 cores

The upcoming Snapdragon 675 will boast two cores at 2.00 GHz that focus on performance and six cores at 1.78 GHz that center on power efficiency. In comparison, the current Snapdragon 845 (the most potent Qualcomm chipset on the market, at the moment) employs four 2.8GHz performance cores built around ARM Cortex-A75.

According to this information, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 would be slower than the Snapdragon 845, the current Qualcomm flagship SoC. Besides, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 is built on 10-nm technology, while the Snapdragon 675 is an 11-nm chipset.

It’s not a big surprise that Qualcomm decided to build a new mid-range SoC, especially since the future Snapdragon 675 would outperform the current mid-tier chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 would boast triple-camera support

What’s particularly cool with the upcoming Snapdragon 675 is that it would possess triple-camera support, a feature that is more and more common on mid-range smartphones, besides high-end devices.

More specifically, Qualcomm is building its new Snapdragon 675 with support for those devices with three cameras, and will also bring some enhancements for gaming that would help users run specific games more smoothly. That’s pretty similar to Huawei’s GPU Turbo Optimization. Furthermore, Snapdragon 675 will come with Quick Charge 4+ support and an improved artificial intelligence engine.

According to Qualcomm, by the end of Q1 2019, the majority of mid- and high-range devices would come out with triple-camera systems on their back. That’s why the new Snapdragon 675 would come out on the market during the first quarter of 2019.
