Microsoft Surface Book 3 Might Come Out In Late 2019

Until now, all we know about Microsoft Surface Book 3 comes from rumors and leaks, even though the Surface Book 2 launched in 2017. While Microsoft did not release any official details on the Surface Book 3, speculations are rolling out over the Internet. In this article, we’ll present you some of the latest rumors and leaks on Microsoft Surface Book 3. Even more, according to a report about which we’ll talk below, Surface Book 3 might come out in late 2019 or early 2020.

Microsoft Surface Book 3 release date rumors

The speculation that Microsoft would launch later this year or in early 2020 comes from a report posted by Tech Radar, and it is based on the fact that Intel Ice Lake CPU series will roll out in December 2019. Since the new Intel Ice Lake processors are specially designed for laptops and 2-in-1 devices, Microsoft Surface Book 3 might prefer to be among the first 2-in-1 devices to use the new CPUs.

Accordingly, Microsoft Surface Book 3 might come out soon after the release of the Intel Ice Lake processors. That means we can see Surface Book 3 hitting the shelves by the end of 2019 or in early 2020.

What would be new in the upcoming Surface Book 3?

Besides implementing a revamped CPU, the Intel Ice Lake technology, Microsoft might also prefer to upgrade some of the other components of the 2-in-1 device. That would include a revamped battery since the one on Surface Book 2 has disappointed the users, to some extent. Also, the next installment in the Surface Book series might weight less than Surface Book 2, and that’s another fact that would please many of the users.

As for how much the future Surface Book 3 would cost, speculations indicated that its price range would be around the same values as its predecessor, Microsoft Surface Book 3. Until we have something official from Microsoft, all we have are these rumors and speculations that we discussed above. However, it would be indeed great to receive Microsoft Surface Book 3 in late 2019.

Surface Book 3 Comes with High-power NVIDIA Graphic Cards and New Improvements

The Surface 2 was quickly overshadowed by other Surface devices in mere months after the official release. While the device was good, it didn’t offer any revolutionary features that could have set it apart from the competition. Many Surface Book users remained unimpressed by the update, leading to a poor impact.

The device is already outdated and some sources claim that the Redmond company is working on a new version of the 2-in-1 device. Read below to learn more about the rumored features and a possible release date.

A faster brain

The Whiskey Lake generation has become available for Windows laptops. The improved 14-nanometer chips promise a reasonable power boost but Microsoft could decide to use the advanced Ice Lake chips that should be released before 2019 ends.

High-power NVIDIA Graphic cards

The i7 version of the Surface Book 2 offered a beefy NVIDIA GTX 1050 dedicated graphic could.  The revolutionary Turing architecture promises improved performance and higher fidelity while also reducing the energy required in order fueling the graphic card. An RTX 2080 is clearly out of the question since we want a slim device but maybe there is enough space for in order to squeeze a more modest version inside the Surface Book 3.

Lightning speed

The Surface Pro 3 features USB-C ports but even this standard is a bit slow in comparison to the blazing speed that can be achieved by Thunderbolt 3. The ability to choose a model that features a Thunderbolt 3 port would certainly attract some users that have to transfer high amounts of data between the Surface Book 3 and other devices.

Improved screen

A 4K panel would certainly please the eyes but a significant price bump would be included. Microsoft could also trim the bezels a little in order to maximize the dimensions of the screen.

Release date

The device could be announced in the fall of 2019 but an early release is also possible.

Surface Book 3 Prototype Unveiled On Instagram By a Microsoft Executive

Ralf Groene, head of Industrial Design for Microsoft Devices, revealed the new Surface Book 3 prototype on Instagram. The unveiling of the device was well-received by the fans. In the image shared by Ralf Groene, we can see that the future Surface Book 3 boasts a detachable hinge, using a so-called “muscle-wire-based actuators” to detach the tablet from the base of the device by clicking a button.

“Early prototype of Surface Book muscle wire detach,” said Ralf Groene, the head of Industrial Design for Microsoft Devices, on Instagram.

“As you might expect, the device has a face only a creator could love; it has a 9-volt battery stuck into where the display should be located. That being said, this prototype was used to test the muscle wire detach mechanism for the Surface Book, according to Groene,” reported Thurrott, the tech news portal which was the first to talk about Surface Book 3 prototype unveiled by Ralf Groene.

Surface Book 3 Prototype Unveiled On Instagram By a Microsoft Executive

The fascinating design of the Surface Book devices helped Microsoft win a lot of praise from the fans who were not at all happy with the boring looks of Microsoft’s Surface Laptop gadgets.

We, therefore, hope that Microsoft would recover in 2019 with the upcoming Surface Book 3 device and other astonishing gadgets announced via a series of rumors, such as the so-called Surface Andromeda, Surface Januss, and Surface Centaurus.

Brad Sams from the Thurrott also added that, in his opinion, now, since Surface Book 2 is over a year old already, Microsoft would most likely announce the next Surface Book 3 somewhen in 2019, probably during the following few months, in the first half of the year. The most exciting thing to see would be the technical specs sheet of the future Surface Book, hoping that Microsoft will come out with a brand-new device, from A to Z, not with an update of the Surface Book 2.

Surface Book 3 Latest News So Far – Best 2-in-1 Laptop of the Future

Microsoft made everyone fall in love when they presented the Surface Book. Soon came the Book 2, which was a greater version than the original, becoming one of the best 2-in-1 laptops which ran Windows 10. Now that we know that the Surface Book 3 is coming, we can hardly wait to see what has evolved and what is new.

What we know

The Surface Book 3 will be a 2-in-1 laptop as well. It will be officially launched sometime next year – 2019 -, between September and November. About the price, we couldn’t find out exactly but you should expect it to cost as much – if not more – than what the Book 2 is selling for. Right now, the 13.5 inch Surface Book 2 is selling for $1,119 and the 15 inch version costs about $2,499.

What do we want to see?

First, Microsoft has to fill those 15 inches of space with something necessary. An expanded keyboard, a number pad, speakers with deep bass, anything can be used to make sure there is no wasted space.

Then, the Book 2 is using the Surface connector which is flexible enough, although we would like to see Microsoft include the Thunderbolt 3 via USB-C into their 3rd model. It allows for a faster file transfer and it plays as a hub for all your peripherals.

Next, battery management has to up its game. Although Microsoft told us that this product isn’t meant for gaming necessarily, when you deliver it with a built-in Xbox controller receiver you have to make sure it doesn’t run out of power too quickly.

In terms of display, we would like that the Surface Book 3 would come with 4K media assets, mainly because it is surely becoming the norm. Finally, for that price, Microsoft should go out of its way and include all the necessary accessories in the package, like the Surface Dial with the Surface Pen.
