Winamp Music Player Will Make Its Comeback In 2019

The Winamp music player, which has been in existence for 21 years now, is still alive. The renowned software will make its comeback in a brand new version in 2019.

At its time, long before iTunes was so popular and long before streaming services like Spotify or Deezer, Winamp dominated the music player industry. It was the must-have music player for anyone who was listening to MP3 files. The situation has obviously changed a lot over the previous years with music platforms and even music players moving to the online ecosystem.

Winamp music player will make its comeback in 2019

According to a TechCrunch report, Winamp should make its comeback in 2019. That was reported by Alexandre Saboundjian, CEO of Radionomy, who bought Winamp in 2014. Saboundjian said that we should expect an entirely new version that would aim to make the software the most significant music platform in the world.

According to Alexandre Saboundjian, “there will be a brand new version next year, with Winamp’s legacy, but for a complete listening experience. You can listen to the MP3s you have at home but also to music stored in the cloud, podcasts, streams, radio stations or a playlist, why not, that you would have made. People want a unique experience. I think Winamp is the perfect music player to bring this to everyone. And we want people to have it on all their devices.”

Winamp music player would reenter the market with high expectations

For the moment, the details of the new Winamp project are slim, except for the confirmation of a new Winamp music player that would come in 2019. To be honest, Winamp never really disappeared since 2014 when Radionomy bought the brand.

Even though it has never been officially updated since then, it continued to exist. The question now is whether software like Winamp music player still has its place in the landscape today.
