Xiaomi Mi 9 “Transparent Edition” Would Come With A Never-Before-Seen Camera In The Smartphone Market

Yesterday, while Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S10 lineup and Galaxy Fold, the world’s first folding smartphone, Xiaomi also presented some more details about its upcoming Xiaomi Mi 9 “Transparent Edition.” According to the presentations, the so-called Mi 9 “Transparent Edition” would come with a never-before-seen camera in the smartphone market. Namely, it would boast a camera with seven optical elements and f/1.47 aperture.

Besides this particular 7P f/1.47 camera, which would be one of the three main sensors of the device, this Mi 9 “Transparent Edition,” as its nickname suggests, would come with a back case made of glass which would allow users to see some of the device’s internal components. However, in reality, those are not the real components of the smartphone.

Also, thanks to the Xiaomi presentation, we have the confirmation that Xiaomi Mi 9 “Transparent Edition” (or Explorer, as it might be officially named, eventually) comes with 12 Gb of RAM and 256 Gb of internal storage space.

Xiaomi Mi 9 “Transparent Edition” Would Be Available Only Across China, At First

As mentioned above, the most exciting part of the Xiaomi Mi 9 “Transparent Edition” presentation has been that talking about the particular 7P f/1.47 aperture camera. That 7P stands for “seven optical elements,” and it would be a premiere in the smartphone market. Until now, most of the high-end devices boasted 5P or 6P cameras, so Xiaomi would be the first to implement a 7P camera.

While Xioami did not mention which of the three rear cameras would boast such features, there are indications that the primary rear sensor would posses 7P f/1.47 aperture. That would be the camera with 48 megapixels and the Sony IMX586 technology.

As Xiaomi confirmed it yesterday, Xiaomi Mi 9 “Transparent Edition” or Explorer, as the Chinese brand might call this device, eventually, would launch soon but only across China, at first, where it would cost CNY 3,999 (roughly $600). Hopefully, Xiaomi would launch its Mi 9 “Transparent Edition” to the western markets, as well, later this year.
