Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Gets Android Pie Update with New Source Code

Recently, Mi A2 Lite became the more affordable variant of Xiaomi’s first smartphone. The Chinese’s company work was released when the Android One program was launched and it revolutionized the mobile market. The Mi A2 wasn’t the only prototype device involved in the program. It had a sibling – Mi A2 Lite and both of them were officially launched this year in July.

The most important detail about the two devices is that they were released with Android 8.1 Oreo. Surprisingly, a lot of mobile companies were preparing for the future, so developers had to think about ways to update their systems once Android Pie will be out.

Thanks to the Oreo Kernel source code, Xiaomi Mi A2 and A2 Lite are receiving the Android Pie update

A month after both devices from Xiaomi were launched, the company announced another revolution in the mobile industry. They released the Oreo kernel source code for Xiaomi Mi A2 and A2 Lite, waiting for the right moment to put their new friends to work.

Ever since they were released, the Kernel source codes were expected to contribute to a successful beginning of the update campaign, especially because they support the developer’s community in this quest. Xiaomi is known to be kind of slow when they release source codes.

Xioami users had to wait a long time until the Kernel source codes for Android Pie were available. Now, we are getting close to the end of 2018. The last few months where very busy, because more and more devices are getting the Android Pie update.

A few weeks ago, the Kernel source codes were finally up for Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite and within the last days they became available for download on GitHub. Now, these devices can finally be updated to Android Pie.
