PlayStation Classic Rolls Out Today, So Sony Revealed More Details

Sony has launched an official video showing in great detail the content of PlayStation Classic. Now, we can see how the new mini version of the original PlayStation is designed to look as close as possible to the original console, but in a much smaller format. To be more precise, it has dimensions of 149 x 33 x 105 mm, 45% less than the size of the original console.

The Sony’s PlayStation Classic comes out with 20 PlayStation games, such as Battle Arena Toshinden, Cool Boarders 2, Destruction Derby, Final Fantasy VII, Grand Theft Auto, Intelligent Qube, Jumping Flash! Metal Gear Solid, Mr. Driller, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, Rayman, Resident Evil Director’s Cut, Revelations: Persona, Ridge Racer Type 4, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Syphon Filter, Tekken 3, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, Twisted Metal, and Wild Arms.

The PlayStation Classic console has a video resolution of 720p or 480p, so it will possibly rescale depending on which device is used to play. The two included controllers have 1.5-m cables, and the 2-m HDMI cable can be used to connect the system to the TV, as it is not compatible with any other video or audio method. Regarding the controls, the only ones compatible are those included with the PlayStation Classic.

Sony Revealed More Details On Its PlayStation Classic Which Rolls Out Today

Each of the before-mentioned PlayStation Classic titles has 15 virtual memory card slots, which you can manage in the console’s main interface. As with the original PlayStation, if you delete a save file, it will be lost and cannot be recovered. On the other hand, the reset button allows you to return to the central system interface and create a save point from the moment you started playing.

The next time you play that game, you can start from the save point you created. Also, when you reach the end of a disc in games that initially had several discs, such as Final Fantasy VII and Metal Gear Solid, for which you’ll need to press the open button on the console to switch to the next virtual disc.

System Link is not available on PlayStation Classic. However, you can play split-screen multiplayer with compatible games. Sony also warns that it will not be possible to download new games for the console, buy them, or use the original PlayStation games. In addition to that, for the moment, there are no plans to bring content updates to the system.

Google Hangouts To Shut Down In 2020, According To News Report

Google Hangouts rolled out on May 15th, 2013, and is expected to shut down soon. The service would have suffered from the multiplication of similar applications in the same ecosystem. You may not have known it, but Hangouts is still active, but app set up by Google in 2013 will not have much longer, however.

Google Hangouts To Shut Down In 2020

At least that is what the 9to5Google site indicates, which, according to reliable sources, states that the service will close in 2020. So you would have a whole year at your disposal to use Google Hangouts if you feel like it, although most users have already ditched the platform. The service no longer supports third-party applications, so it is, therefore, no longer possible to create new ones with APIs.

The proliferation of instant messaging apps has not helped Google Hangouts adoption, especially since Google put the app in the background as it focused on the development of Google Duo and Allo.

In other news, Google would now like to transform Android Messages into an RCS client, a protocol that is supposed to replace SMS.

Google’s Scott Johnston Disagrees The News

Scott Johnston, who is working on the software suite including Hangouts Meet, Chat and Google Voice, said no specific decisions had been made in this regard within Google. According to him, Google Hangouts users will be upgraded to Hangouts Chat and Hangouts Meet.

“I run Hangouts, and this is pretty shoddy reporting. No decisions made about when Hangouts will be shut down. Hangouts users will be upgraded to Hangouts Chat and Hangouts Meet. Your source is severely misinformed. You can do better,” said Scott Johnston on Twitter, replying to the article posted by 9to5Google.

Visibly annoyed about the 9to5Google report, Johnston, nevertheless, confirmed in another answer that the “classic” Google Hangouts version would eventually shut down. We can imagine that Google is waiting to put in place a concrete alternative (other than Google Allo, as the app is not at all popular) before making a decision.

Huawei To Develop Its Own OS For Smartphones

It has been rumored for a few months that Huawei is developing its own OS for smartphones. When asked about this, the firm’s officials denied the information. But it now seems that they no longer want to hide their project. The Chinese giant has finally admitted that he is working on a new OS to replace Android. Bruce Lee, Vice President of Huawei’s Mobile Products Division, announced this on his Weibo account. So there is no longer any room for doubt.

Huawei to develop a new OS for mobile devices to replace Android

Bruce Lee announced the development of a new OS made by Huawei. However, he did not mention anything about the reasons for this decision. Is the Chinese manufacturer in bad terms with Google? Apparently not, since the two are working together on the development of the latter’s new operating system.

Otherwise, just like Apple, Huawei might also want to have its own OS for mobile devices to add its personal touches more broadly than EMUI would allow. That is very likely, but there is no indication so far that the company wants to move in this direction.

Huawei might develop its own OS for smartphones to tackle the US sanctions

The explanation that remains plausible at this time is that Huawei wants to protect itself from the US sanctions. As you might recall, the United States has increased its attacks on the Chinese manufacturer in recent months.

On the basis of suspicions of espionage, the US, for example, incited its allies to remove Huawei from their 5G infrastructures. In the current geopolitical context, it is, therefore, not out of the question that the American government should prohibit commercial relations between US-based companies, such as Google, and the Chinese tech giant.

Thus, Huawei might anticipate stricter regulations from the US and develop its own OS for smartphones in case the worst happens, and they could not use Android anymore.
