Disney Plus Streaming Service Details Revealed

Disney Plus streaming service was announced. After paying the subscription, Disney plus will offer you all the latest movies and tv shows from Fox and Disney, everything only for a small fee.

By the end of this month, Disney Plus should be released, while the US will only get access to it starting on the 12th of November 2019. The company was very smart when they decided on the release date. The services will be marketed on the launch of Star Wars: Episode IX on 20th of December and Frozen 2 on 22nd of November, big-budget movies. In addition to that, the competition between Netflix and Disney Plus will be apparent. In two years every country in the world will be able to get the services from Disney.

The price of Disney Plus streaming service

Compared to Netflix, Disney Plus is more affordable. According to Disney, you will need to pay $70 per year as an initial subscription and $7 per month while the most popular Netflix plan in the US costs $13. If you decide n subscribing to three or two streaming options from Disney, you will get a discount.

How to stream on Disney Plus

Streaming Disney plus will not be hard as most devices such as laptops, TVs and phones will support it. Not only the basic devices could be used as you could also connect the service using Chromecast and Amazon firestick. However, no official confirmation came that saying with accuracy the devices that will support the Disney streaming, but we could at least try to guess.

According to Disney, HDR and 4K content will also be provided, but if you want video streaming of high quality, you might need to pay more. Furthermore, the number of devices that could run on a single subscription is unknown.

Chrome OS 74 Is Now Available With New Features

Chrome OS is Google’s Linux-based operating system, which primarily runs web applications. Recently, Google launched Chrome OS 74 version, after expanding to Android, Mac, Windows, and Linux. The update brings a whole new range of exciting features, including a new unified search, PDF annotations, and folder creation in My Files.

Chrome OS 74 delivers new search options, designed to offer an improved experience for device, web and Assistant lookups. Here are some of the features that got enhanced.

The new features include displaying suggestions when tapping the search field and the option to delete any item in history when hovering over it.

Google Assistant

Google Assistant also presents some new assets. It originally was a floating dialogue, but now it’s part of the general Chrome OS search experience. It is now being displayed over a transparent background.

PDF Viewer

The Chrome OS PDF viewer now comes with integrated annotation tools, such as pen and highlighter, with the option to change colors and stroke width. Even more, now the PDF viewer also has an eraser and a redo/undo button.

The Chrome background now has a ”Customize” FAB that lets you upload your own image. New options include restoring the default web shortcuts and the pre-set wallpaper for new tabs.

Camera

Now you can plug in external USB cameras, such as webcams, microscopes, and document cameras, into the Google Camera app.

Besides these five main changes, other improvements have been made in Chrome OS 74. Here are some examples:

  • You can now save files and create folders directly from the My Files directory.
  • Linux apps can now play audio
  • Users can send feedback reports with system performance profiling data
  • Preventing popups from closed (or replaced) pages
  • Over the next few weeks, Chrome OS 74 will become available for all Chromebooks.

Disney Plus Might Be A Threat To Netflix and Apple TV

Disney released its own streaming service last month seemingly overnight. Disney Plus was a surprise for many users, and the service offers a vast content library. It is worth noting that Apple released its own streaming service the same month. The service is called Apple TV, and it is considered a rival for Disney at the moment.

The Apple release event was a big glamorous one, and it features plenty of celebrities. However, the company maintained important details secret. Therefore, users didn’t learn anything about the pricing, content or launch date. Meanwhile, Disney made all these details public right from the start.

Is Disney Plus a threat to Netflix?

Disney’s library contains many movies and TV shows. As many already know, Disney owns Fox, as well as the Star Wars franchise, Marvel and Pixar. More than that, a $2 billion budget was allocated for originals. The price of Disney Plus is 7$ per months which is a reasonable price.

Judging by this, it is safe to say that Disney Plus is a serious competitor. However, it is hard to believe that Netflix will lose its leadership position any time soon. Analyst Rich Greenfield believes that Netflix will transform into a primary service the way cable is. More than that, Netflix already spent $12 billion producing originals, which increased its popularity.

However, this does not mean that consumers won’t subscribe to other streaming services as well. According to a Deloitte study, the average United States consumers subscribe to at least three streaming services. While Disney Plus doesn’t seriously threaten Netflix, it might threat Apple TV might be. The presentation given by Tim Cook revealed that the content of Apple TV isn’t as large as expected. Purchasing content would make Apple pay for the licensing deals which would increase the Apple TV price.
