iOS 12.1 To Be Released on Tuesday With eSIM Support, Carriers Suggests

On Tuesday, October 30th, Apple will hold its final major event of the year during which we expect the renowned tech company to present its new iPad Pro 2018 models and the substitute for the MacBook Air laptop line. However, some carriers suggest that iOS 12.1 would also launch tomorrow, along with the rollout of eSIM support for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR.

The new iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR include a so-called electronic SIM (eSIM) which enables the Dual-SIM functionality of the new iPhone 2018 models. That feature is not available in China where the new iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR came out with a standard SIM tray which can house two regular SIM cards.

With the new eSIM functionality present in the upcoming iOS 12.1, the new iPhone 2018 models would be able to use two phone numbers for calls and texts, permitting users to take advantage of different offers.

iOS 12.1 To Be Released on Tuesday With eSIM Support

Even though the eSIM function was not available at the launch of the new iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR, the feature appeared implemented in the future iOS 12.1 which might come out tomorrow, during the Apple’s last major event of the year. The rumor emerged after some carriers across the United States and Europe announced the availability of eSIM contracts for the iPhone 2018 models starting with Tuesday, October 30th.

In this regard, according to 9to5Mac, Apple Stores will get QR code sheets as of Tuesday, October 30th, allowing customers to set up their eSIM by scanning the respective QR codes with their iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR. Besides this functionality, iOS 12.1 would also bring many features, including 70 new emojis, Depth Control for iPhone XS/XR, and Group FaceTime, among others.

New WhatsApp Versions for Android and iOS Come With Stickers To Spice Up Your Messages

Also, as in Telegram or Facebook Messenger, when you receive a new sticker, you can download that one and add it to your own listing if you do not already have it.

When you long-press a sticker you received, you will see the same menu as on any other message. Basically, you will be able to answer to the message or resend the sticker, as well as mark it as a favorite or delete it.

However, in the case you don’t see the new stickers, despite updating the app the new WhatsApp versions for Android and iOS, you’d have to back up your WhatsApp chat history and reinstall the application. For some users, this method worked for obtaining the new stickers in WhatsApp.

Google Accused Of Covering Up Sexual Harassment Situations, According To A New York Times Report

According to the New York Times, Google got involved in a sexual harassment scandal involving several of its senior executives. This information was tempered by the company, which announced on Thursday that it had dismissed 48 employees for inappropriate behavior over the past two years.

In a survey published Thursday, the New York Times revealed that Google had suppressed three cases of sexual harassment that occurred internally. That led to a rapid reaction from the General Manager, Sundar Pichai. He pointed out that 48 employees had been dismissed over the past two years for sexual harassment, among them being involved about 13 senior managers. He also pointed out that no dismissed employees had received severance pay.

However, the New York Times claims in its investigation that Andy Rubin, the mastermind behind Android, was allegedly obliged to leave Google in 2014, accused by sexual harassment. However, Gooogle would have paid him $90 million to quit

“Mr. Rubin left Google voluntarily in 2014 to develop Playground, a technology investment fund and a startup incubator,” replied his spokesman Sam Singer. “He has never had any inappropriate behavior at Google or anywhere else, and no one has ever told he has had any,” he added.

“Any relationship Mr. Rubin had while at Google was consensual and did not involve anyone under his direct orders. He had a consensual relationship in 2012. To his knowledge, at that time, there were no internal rules prohibiting relations between employees,” Sam Singer said.

However, on the other hand, in his internal letter, Sundar Pichai reminded its employees that the company now requires senior managers to disclose any intimate relationship with another Google employee. The Director-General advised that a telephone line had been set up. A way for employees to report cases of sexual harassment.

Windows 10 Has A Bug Within Its Built-in ZIP Tool – Microsoft To Launch A Patch in November

Windows 10 has some bugs after the recent updates, according to users’ reports. After a very troublesome issue that deleted the files of several users, here is another recently revealed bug that affects the ZIP archives. Microsoft has promised a patch.

If you use the native Windows 10 tool to access and extract the content of a ZIP archive, a conflict may exist, only that the Windows 10 users are not warned about it. If you copy or move files from a ZIP archive, without first extracting the content to a new folder containing files with the same name, Windows 10 does not display the pop-up message “Do you want to replace these files?”

Windows makes it look like the files have been replaced automatically when, in reality, the copy action for these files is not executed. This scenario does not occur when you use a third-party tool to extract archives, such as 7Zip or WinRAR, just to mention a few.

Microsoft to fix the ZIP tool bug with a patch to be launched in November

The problem mentioned above popped up after the recent Windows 10 October 2018 Update Microsoft rolled out earlier this month, just a few weeks ago. As regarding this ZIP tool bug, Microsoft announced that a patch would soon be available for download.

However, the giant tech company announced that the patch would arrive in early November, but offered no additional details on this patch.

If you regularly handle ZIP archives with the Windows 10 built-in tool, it may be advisable to turn to 7Zip or WinRAR in order to avoid the problems mentioned above. Also, with 7Zip, WinRAR, or any other such tool, users will be able to work with virtually any type of archive in the world.
