WhatsApp Messenger 2.19.109 Beta Released Today, New Features Coming Soon

The latest WhatsApp beta version has just been released today, reaching v. 2.19.109. WhatsApp is working on introducing an improvement to the animated stickers.

As we noticed on WABetaInfo, this feature is still being worked on:

  • The Animated Stickers feature is not available yet.
  • WhatsApp is working on the feature in recent Android, iOS and Web updates, adding a lot of improvements and bug fixes. For this reason it’s ok if you have updated your WhatsApp version and you don’t see the feature. It will be available in future for everyone.

We will see the animated stickers in the stickers pack. Users will be able to see the full animation of the sticker in the preview (unlike GIFs which we only see for a few seconds).

WhatsApp for iOS is also getting support for Animated Stickers. Users of WhatsApp for Web will get to see Animated Stickers, too.

As for when the feature will be enabled in the stable WhatsApp version, there is no official announcement. In the Beta version, it works well, and it will support third-party stickers as well.

Screenshots in Chat Getting Changed

Among the many other new features planned for the stable WhatsApp version of this app, the team at WABetaInfo also spotted a new strange change that would be introduced in the future. In WhatsApp beta for Android 2.19.106 update, they saw a new feature that will make it more difficult for users to take screenshots of the chat.

So the option will not make it impossible to take screenshots of the chat, but all users enabling authentication with fingerprint will not be able to take screenshots anymore.

WhatsApp To Add A New Feature To Help Users Find Desired WhatsApp Stickers

WhatsApp has not yet made its stickers known to all its users. However, with a new feature that will soon be added to the service, it will become easier for mobile users to find the right WhatsApp stickers for them quickly.

Thanks to the new function in WhatsApp, users will be able to enter keywords to find the desired WhatsApp stickers that they want to use in their chats. This feature is already under development for the Android version of WhatsApp. However, WABetaInfo reported that no information has yet been collected regarding the availability of the functionality on iOS.

WhatsApp already classifies its stickers by categories

Apple users will notice some similarities between this new feature and the way emoji works on iOS devices. However, instead of offering you a search function, the apple brand uses a predictive entry system to suggest the emoji you can use.

It is not to be ruled out that WhatsApp plans to follow Apple’s lead later and use the predictive entry system on its WhatsApp stickers. Similarly, the Cupertino-based tech giant may also include stickers in its features later on, although this would only duplicate emojis and could therefore only clutter up rather than serving users.

Even if the functionality is not yet installed, WhatsApp already offers users several categories of stickers. For example, in one of the classes, users can find stickers such as “surprised”, “happy,” or “sad.” To allow a better search, WhatsApp will highlight the “Favorites” and “Most Used” categories, too.

More WhatsApp stickers to come

Currently, the instant messaging app is only offering 12 official sticker packs. Therefore, choosing the sticker that best suits your discussion and emotions is not very complicated. The more stickers on WhatsApp increase, the more useful the upcoming feature will be to users.

You can also download additional stickers, but many of them are paid. Therefore, it would not be surprising if WhatsApp would add new WhatsApp stickers designed by third parties.

New WhatsApp Versions for Android and iOS Come With Stickers To Spice Up Your Messages

Finally, the WhatsApp now added stickers, even though some of them are precisely the ones you see in Facebook Messenger. Puppies, dinosaurs, coffee cups, and so on, are just a few of the stickers with which you can now spice up your WhatsApp messages.

To use these fun stickers in WhatsApp, you will have to make sure that you update your WhatsApp to the new 2.18.329 version for Android or the WhatsApp 2.18.100 for iOS.

Once the application has been updated, you will need to open a conversation and click on the smiling face icon that appears to the left of the text box. This icon is native to WhatsApp’s interface and is used to open the options to send emojis, GIFs, and so on. Besides these, you can now see the stickers.

New WhatsApp versions for Android and iOS added stickers

When you click on the stickers icon on WhatsApp, you will find some curious pre-loaded stickers, but you will be able to search for more by clicking on the “plus” sign that is at the top of the list. Also, as in Telegram or Facebook Messenger, when you receive a new sticker, you can download that one and add it to your own listing if you do not already have it.

When you long-press a sticker you received, you will see the same menu as on any other message. Basically, you will be able to answer to the message or resend the sticker, as well as mark it as a favorite or delete it.

However, in the case you don’t see the new stickers, despite updating the app the new WhatsApp versions for Android and iOS, you’d have to back up your WhatsApp chat history and reinstall the application. For some users, this method worked for obtaining the new stickers in WhatsApp.
