PlayStation 5 to Use AMD’s Navi GPU, the Zen CPU – Amazing New Changes

You read that right! AMD has designed its Navi graphics architecture (GPU) to be mainly used in PlayStation 5, as “industry sources” talked to the Forbes. This anonymous source also stated that for the next-gen console, they would use the AMD’s Zen, which was the CPU that was used in the Ryzen brand gaming desktops.

We don’t really know much about the AMD’s Navi, but what we know so far is that it will use the 7nm process. Some gossips say that it was created to be used primarily in PlayStation 5. Just as the source said, two-thirds of the staff which was working on the Radeon RX Vega (and also other projects) were redirected to work on the Navi, thing that led to the RX Vega launch. This was not welcomed very well by Raja Koduri, who is the head of Radeon Technologies Group.

About the next-gen consoles from Sony

There’s not a word from Sony with regards to the next-gen consoles. After the event which took place earlier this month, with E3, some people started to think about whether Sony really has some new hardware to reveal or not. There’s still a year until the E3 2019, so it’s still plenty of time for Sony to give us some details about the PlayStation 5. As you probably remember, Sony didn’t want to announce the PlayStation 4 at E3 2013, so this put even more pressure on the fact that we have some time to wait until the big reveal. From where we’re standing, the PlayStation 5 will probably not make its appearance sometime earlier than 2019 or even 2020.

However, the Interactive Entertainment CEO from Sony, John Kodera, said in a statement from May that we should prepare our goodbyes, as the PlayStation 4 has entered the final stage of its life.
