Surface Pro 3 Receives Firmware Update that Improves Device Security

Microsoft has been keeping quite busy this past couple of days. The tech giant rolled out important firmware updates to Surface Book 2, Surface Pro 4, Surface Laptop and Surface Pro (2017). However, there is one Surface Pro device that didn’t receive the same treatment from Microsoft. The device we are talking about is called Surface Pro 3.

While Microsoft was rolling out important firmware updates to the previously mentioned Surface devices, Surface Pro 3 was being left behind. This angered the community and people kept making posts on the community forum and asked Microsoft to deliver firmware updates to Surface Pro 3 as well. Fortunately, Microsoft listened to the feedback it received and rolled out a new firmware update for Surface Pro 3.

Improved System Stability

The new update that Surface Pro 3 owners are receiving OTA (over the air) sports the “Surface UEFI – Firmware 3.11.2450.0” version number and Microsoft says that it will improve device security. Unfortunately, this is the only thing that Microsoft had to say about the latest firmware update and its highly unlikely that it will introduce any new features.

Surface Pro 3 is one of the most successful tablets that Microsoft launched and this is why the community was surprised to see that its not a top priority when it comes to firmware updates. Nonetheless, Surface Pro 3 was announced on May 20th, 2014 and it shipped with a massive 12.0-inches display that uses IPS LCD technology.

While the display might be impressive, the most important hardware part that Surface Pro 3 has to offer is the Intel Core i7 CPU that hides beneath its hood. The CPU is paired with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage space.

Since we are talking about Clash Royale updates, fans of the mobile game should be happy to know that Supercell released a major balance change update on August 6th that introduced a bunch of buffs and nerfs. With that being said, let’s check out which are the cards that received the biggest changes.

As all Clash Royale fans already know, Tesla is one of the most popular defensive buildings in the game because of its hit speed. Unfortunately, Supercell noticed that Tesla is a bit overpowered and decided to nerf Tesla’s lifespan and hit speed in order to make it easier for attackers to destroy it.

Bomb Tower

The Bomb Tower is also a highly popular building, but it’s not overpowered at all. Therefore, Supercell decided to reduce the cost of building it to four elixirs from five, while tweaking out some of its power. The Bomb Tower will now feature a lifespan of 35 (reduced from 40) and its hitpoints have also been reduced to 33.

Inferno Dragon

Dragons are the perfect troops for attacking enemies because of their range. Furthermore, the Inferno Dragon is a top pick for Clash Royale fans who want to defeat their foes and it looks like Supercell wants that to change. The reason we are saying this is because Supercell has decreased Inferno Dragon’s range from 4.0 to 3.5 tiles. Nonetheless, Inferno Dragon is still a powerful card even after this nerf.

How to Resolve Chrome err_spdy_protocol_error

The errors can be caused by servers which are not properly configured, the browser itself or some changes to critical PC settings.  It is vital t properly identify why the error appears in first place in order to fix it.

Some users of the popular Google Chrome browser the ‘’this webpage is not available’’. The error is exclusive to Chrome and tends to appear more often if the PC is also running Windows 10.

What causes the “ERR_SPDY_PROTOCOL_ERROR”:

One reason may be tied due to a specific protocol used by Chrome and which can be easily solved. Other issues may be related to the network or even Chrome’s data server.

How to fix the error

While many pseudo-solutions are floating around the internet, this list will only feature those that have been proven to work by deploying internal tests and making sure that it is not a temporary fix.

Fix: Flush the SPDY sockets

In Google Chrome open a new tab and paste the following URL:

  • chrome://net-internals/#events&q=type:SPDY_SESSION%20is:active

Next, go to the upper right corner of the browser and left-click on the arrow facing down. A menu fill open and from the menu select the ‘’Flush sockets’’ option. Restart the browser and verify if any changes can be observed.

You can also go to: chrome://net-internals/#sockets and click directly on the Flush sockets button

Alternative fix: Refresh IP and DNS

In order to use this fix you will need to open Command Prompt with administrator rights Go to Start/All Programs/Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and run with admin rights

In Command Prompt enter each line and press enter after each of them:

  • ipconfig /flushdns
  • ipconfig /registerdns
  • ipconfig /release
  • ipconfig /renew

Additional fix: Clean cache data

Open Chrome and press simultaneously on Shift-Control-Delete. A menu should appear. Click on the ‘’Clear browsing data’’ button and you are good to go.
