Clash of Clans Update – The Bat Spell and January Changes

Clash of Clans will be seven years old this year but the game has remained popular among many smartphone users around the world.

The hit game offers a slick mixture of strategy and online interaction that makes it easy to play but hard to master. With a wealth of units available, there are several combinations that will help you to raise your starting kingdom to a glorious destiny.

Unlike other companies, Supercell is constantly improving the game by releasing consistent updates that add new and exciting features.

Below you can find the changes brought by the latest balance update and more information about the new content that was added in the December update.

The January update

It seems that the January update will be quite minimalistic. While the Bat Spell was nerfed by the previous update many players continued to say that it is overpowered. Supercell decided to nerf the spell again in order to satisfy the community.

The spell will now spawn a smaller number of bats per each level. The delay until the first attack takes place has been increased to 1.5 seconds, up by 0.5 seconds. The damage has remained unchanged for now. Below you can see how the number of bats was changed:

Level 1: 7 (initially 10)

Level 2: 9 (initially12)

Level 3: 11 (initially 14)

Level 4: 16 (initially18)

Level 5: 21 (initially22)

December changes

The spell was also changed in December when the number of bats was decreased for the first time.

The Stone Slammer was also changed during the same update. While the damage multiplayer was increased to 25x (it was 15x at first) the splash damage would decrease on par with the distance at which the target is situated (more damage if the target is closer). The HP of the unit was also nerfed in order to make it easier to kill.

The Ice Golem was also introduced in this update but the unit has remained unchanged for now.

Machine learning

Machine learning can be used as a tool and it has been implemented in various projects. Apps for social media, healthcare, the financial sector or banking have used machine learning successfully in the past. It is expected that Quantum computing will use machine learning in the future in order to handle large numbers of vectors in high-dimensional spaces.

Virtual assistants

The past year was huge for virtual assistants. Controlling them via voice commands makes things very simple for users. In 2019 we expect Android to take voice commands even further. A new user interface would be needed and the virtual assistant should receive several enhancements as well.

AR and VR

Another big trend for 2018 was represented by virtual reality and augmented reality. This should continue in 2019 and we should receive some improvements as well. These systems can be used for various purposes, especially when it comes to gaming. More and more apps have started to make use of virtual reality and we expect big things this year.

AR can be also used for designers, architects and others in order to visualize their final product. This way, they can make the needed adjustments before completing the project, which is something that should save time and money.

Getting root access

Rooting your Android device allows you to control it completely and it makes it possible to install apps that were not compatible initially with it. However, there are also some risks to that, as the sources might not always be reliable.

New iOS 11.4.1 Jailbreak is in Development

Those that want to jailbreak their device and are currently running iOS 11.4.1 will be happy to learn that a Twitter user is hard at work on a jailbreak solution for this particular iOS version.

According to a source the news was posted by thihmstar, a famous developer that is well-known in the jailbreak scene. The announcement led to enthusiastic reactions since many people want to jailbreak their device.

Tihmstar is developing an exploit that will be compatible with iOS versions that go up to 11.4.1. While the kernel can be read it will take a while until the task will be finished. He tested the fix on an iPhone 6 but is unsure if it will work on other models, including those that don’t have a headphone jack.

In a later post tihmstar said that he managed to gain access to the kernel base but the exploit requires the existence of a headphone jack in order to work properly.

Jailbreaking a device has remained a controversial process since the first exploit was released.  The Cupertino company was against the process since day one and each iteration of iOS has become increasingly harder to crack as time passed. Apple has declared that jailbreaking is a dangerous act since it exposes your device to several risks.  If you decide to jailbreak your device and then face a problem Apple will not help since jailbreaking a device will void the warranty.

Those that decide to take the risk and jailbreak device will get access variety of tweaks and features that can improve the functionality of their device. But they can also download infected apps released by malicious third-party providers.

Until now it was possible to jailbreak a device that is running iOS 11.3.1. If the new exploit will be stable, it will mark a significant progress on the way to a jailbreak for iOS 12. It remains to be seen if tihmstar will be able to release the exploit in the future.

Buy devices that can be secured

In many cases many IoT devices won’t receive security patches (or any patches at all). It is advised to check the security features of a device before it is bought. If the device relies on an external cloud platform in order to work properly a little bit of research is needed in order to assess the security level and vulnerability potential of the platform.

Identify and list all the devices that are connected to the company network.

This is a vital step. A comprehensive list of all the smart devices that can be found in the office will allow you to quickly spot and remove and potential vulnerabilities.

Ban old and unauthorized devices from the network

If an object is no longer used it should be removed from the network. The same rule is available for unknown devices that are attempting to connect to the network.

A strong antivirus and encryption solution are a must for any office that relies on a network.
