According to the release notes of the new update for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, the 1.2.0 version comes with the sought-after fix for matchmaking issues and alterations in the difficulty of approaching challengers when playing offline, among other improvements and changes.

“Version 1.2.0 will be distributed within the next week. Once you update the software, you won’t be able to watch replays made with previous versions.
