Facebook Messenger Tests Dark Mode In Specific Markets

Facebook Messenger started the public dark mode testing campaign on several devices, in specific markets, following a tease rolled out in September 2018, as reported by MobileSyrup. The frequent social media app tipster Jane Manchun Wong was the first to spot that Facebook launched its Messenger dark mode testing campaign on some smartphones, but only in certain markets.

“Facebook Messenger, seemingly due to prolonged external nagging, has started public testing Dark Mode in certain countries. They have put up a fair warning that Dark Mode isn’t everywhere yet so don’t complain when some UI burns your eyes off,” reported Jane Manchun Wong on her Twitter page.

That comes after the same Jane Manchun Wong reported on Twitter in November that “Facebook Messenger Dark Mode is now ready to roll out.”

Facebook Messenger Tests Dark Mode In Specific Markets

It is not yet known where the Facebook Messenger dark mode is currently available for testing and on which smartphones it would be possible to probe the new feature. However, you can check out if the new dark mode in Facebook Messenger is available to you by accessing the “Me” section in your Facebook Messenger app. While in there, you should see the Dark Mode option.

“We’re conducting a small test of the dark mode in a handful of markets. We don’t have anything further to share at this time,” said a Facebook Messenger representative for CNET, via email.

It seems that Facebook is going to update its Messenger application with a whole bunch of new features in the near future. This Facebook Messenger dark mode is just one of them. Also, Facebook is now working to implement an “unsend” function in its instant messaging application. The “unsend” feature is also under testing, for the time being. Both functions might roll out for everybody together, but we have no official information on that.

Nokia 9 PureView Video Leaks: The Device Would Boast 5 Cameras On Its Back

There it seems to be a battle between Android smartphones manufacturers on how many cameras they can install on the back of the devices. At the moment, Huawei, LG, and Samsung, among others, are the leaders with three-camera setups on their devices’ backs. Reportedly, HMD Global wants to take everybody by storm with Nokia 9 PureView which would boast no less than 5 cameras on its back, according to a video that leaked online.

Nokia 9 PureView video leaked online via MySmartPrice revealed that the upcoming HMD’s flagship smartphone would come out with a circular five-camera array on its back for taking better pics in low-light conditions by combining the five using multishot HDR and the images from all the shots taken.

Besides, Nokia 9 PureView would be a new milestone for HMD Global and Nokia brand since the company has reclaimed the trademark from Microsoft only a few months ago, in August 2018.

Nokia 9 PureView Would Boast 5 Cameras on Its Back

As revealed in the Nokia 9 PureView video, the upcoming device would come out with a design similar to the 2019 Nokia 8 Sirocco. Also, it would boast 6 Gb RAM and  128GB of internal storage. Sony To Launch A New Face ID System in 2019

Facial recognition would become more popular than fingerprint sensors, setting a new trend in 2019. But that would only happen if the facial recognition systems would work fast, reliable, and would be more secure. Now, Sony is working on a new Face ID system and plans to launch it in 2019.

Since iPhone X rolled out on the market, Apple has made its FaceID accessible for the masses as a much more straightforward and fast alternative to the fingerprint sensor. Now, Apple is using its facial recognition system in the latest devices, including the new iPad Pro, as a substitute for the fingerprint reader.

Also, some Android smartphones manufacturers launched devices with face recognition systems to allow users to unlock their devices much more comfortable and faster than with the fingerprint sensor. However, currently, many producers rely on either complex face ID systems or on 2D face recognition as an alternative to fingerprint readers which are still installed.

Sony To Launch A New Face ID System in 2019

The Face ID alternatives on Android smartphones, as well as Apple’s original FaceID system, are not convincing users. Accordingly, there is the need for a better, improved, and more reliable Face ID system. And, reportedly, Sony is working on a new, more complex facial recognition system, and the company plans to launch it in 2019.

While Android and Apple’s facial ID systems rely mostly on “structured light” systems, which is not as accurate and reliable as the manufacturers would want us to believe, Sony’s new Face ID system would work with pulsating lasers. Sony’s facial recognition would use light emitters to recreate a 3D map of the subject’s face. It would, therefore, be much faster and more precise than the current FaceID-like alternatives.

According to recent reports, the new Sony face ID system would come out in the second half of 2019, but we have no information about which devices would boast this improved facial recognition system. It could also be adopted by Apple for its upcoming FaceID 2.0.

Windows 10 October 2018 Update Issue – Soon to be Fixed With New Patch

In case you were thinking about updating to the Windows 10 October 2018 Update, you should take into consideration the fact that you might not be able to listen to uncompressed music the way you used to.

Since Windows 10 was released in 2015, people began to agree with the FLAC encoding because it offers full quality uncompressed music. However, this platform did not receive as much support as the MP3 and the update we received a few months ago does not seem as good as we hoped it would.

When an update arrived in April 2018, users realized that they could not edit meta-data or rate music while along with the upgrade from October 2018 it came a new bug which made existing metadata become truncated. The long track names and other details are being cut off, and would only show full on a PC updated to the April 2018 version.

To make matters worse, when it comes to a playlist both Windows Media Player and Groove refuse to play shorter tracks and skip some minutes of the longer ones.

Microsoft is aware of the issue with it being listed as a Known Issue for Windows 10 October 2018 Update. However, there is a long way until a fix will be found.

Many users are explaining their situation by helping forums.

We know that FLAC is not such a popular format especially since streaming came into the story, but people are wondering why bugs are being introduced along with updates. Hopefully, Microsoft will come with a solution to fix this issue especially if they want as many people as possible to update to the latest version of Windows 10. They need to offer what the users need, and it surely will happen in no time.
