Android Q Would Center On Artificial Intelligence And 5G and Foldable Phone Support

This year is coming to an end, so we’re already looking forward to what the new year is going to bring. As for what Google has in the bag for us in 2019, we can say that Android Q, chatbots, and 5G and foldable phone support are going to become available next year.

Google To Add 5G and Foldable Phone Support In Android

The renowned Internet and tech company, Google, is going to focus more on AI (artificial intelligence) systems for its next year’s devices and software releases. We should expect AI to come to Android more and more in 2019 to ease up users’ tasks. In this regard, Android Q, which is rumored to roll out in 2019, would get chatbots based on artificial intelligence for businesses’ customer services.

Also, in 2019, Google plans to update its future Android OS version with 5G support, as the new technology is going to deploy during next year in the majority of the countries around the world. Also, as foldable phones are already announced for 2019, Google plans to support the new concept in Android Q.

Android Q To Come Out In Q2 or Q3 2019

Android Q has been rumored as the next Android version that Google is planning to release in 2019. Google did not reveal much about its next project regarding its mobile operating system, so what we know about Android Q is very limited.

According to some reports, Android Q won’t come out with so many new features as it has been the case with Android 9 Pie, but we should expect some improvements to be implemented, primarily to support foldable phones and 5G since, as we’ve already mentioned, Google also plans to come up with new Android features in that regard. While Android Q won’t boast significant design changes, we’re pretty sure that the next year’s Google mobile OS version would center on artificial intelligence and security features.

Be it as it may, 2019 would be an excellent year for Google and its Android operating system.

Qualcomm Won A Legal Dispute With Apple In China With Severe Consequences For Apple

Chipmaker Qualcomm has reported that a Chinese court has judged in its favor in a patent case against Apple in China, and a preliminary order has been issued prohibiting the import and sale of several iPhone models in China. This court decision thus makes impossible for the Chinese residents to buy iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X models, even though it does not affect the phones launched this year, namely, the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max.

The news has caused Apple’s shares to fall more than 2% at the opening of the market, while Qualcomm’s shares reacted with rises close to 4% at the beginning of the day.

The decision came from the Fuzhou Intermediate People’s Court in China, the same court that this year banned the import of some of the chips from the chipmaker Micron Technology in China.

Qualcomm Won A Legal Dispute With Apple In China

Qualcomm, which initially filed the case in China in late 2017, has received the court’s green light. The court decided that Apple has violated two of Qualcomm’s software patents to resize photographs and manage touch-screen applications.

“Apple continues to benefit from our intellectual property while refusing to compensate us,” said Don Rosenberg, general counsel for Qualcomm, in a statement. But because patents directly affect the software, Apple can make changes to its operating system to prevent patent infringement, so if the changes come, they can continue to sell their banned smartphones in the Asian country without an agreement with Qualcomm.

The patents that made the subject of the lawsuit are different from those both companies are disputing in other cases in their broad legal dispute. In fact, Qualcomm also asked the US regulators to ban the import of several iPhone models for patent reasons, but so far US officials have refused to do so.

Honor View 20 Is Official With A 48-MP Camera And A Punch Hole Display

The Honor View 20 has just been launched by Huawei and comes to hit the shelves with a revolutionary display design. The new smartphone would boast a punch hole display instead of a notch and a powerful 48-megapixel camera. Honor is one of the most important brands of 2018, and they didn’t want to say goodbye to this year without introducing a new member of the family.

A Kirin 980 SoC Would Power The Recently Revealed Honor View 20

The new Honor View 20 seeks to set a new standard of all-screen Full Image 3.0 design by leaving the notch aside, as something old-fashioned, and resorting to a small hole in the top-left corner of the front of the smartphone to house the selfies camera. The punch hole design is just a tiny step, also adopted by Samsung Galaxy A8s, towards the screen without any hole or notch.

The newly introduced device comes to the Kirin 980, a Huawei-made processor that promises exceptional performance while establishing itself in the high-end segment of the smartphones industry.

Honor View 20 Boasts A 48-MP Main Camera and A 25-MP Selfies Camera

All other technical specifications of Honor View 20 remain, for the moment, a real mystery. The representatives of Honor have not unveiled the RAM and internal storage for their new model. What they did show is the main camera which has 48 megapixels and the Honor View 20’s selfies camera that boasts 25 megapixels.

However, we know a little more about the main camera. It only uses a half inch Sony IMX586 CMOS sensor and, apparently, the main camera uses a pixel fusing technology that would give this sensor and ample flexibility in both good and bad lighting conditions.

The 48-megapixel main camera is also supported by the artificial intelligence of the Kirin 980 processor with support for HDR, as well, among other features.

Microsoft Edge To Support Chrome Extensions, The Company Announced

Microsoft has not provided much detail on Edge’s transition to Chromium, announced last week, but the company has now confirmed that it intends to add support for Chrome extensions in Microsoft Edge browser.

The shortage of extensions for Microsoft Edge has become one of the many obstacles in the adoption of Edge Internet browser by Windows 10 users. Microsoft Edge was designed as a modern replacement for Internet Explorer and is the default browser in Windows 10. However, it failed before Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and even Opera.

Microsoft Edge To Support Chrome Extensions, The Company Announced

But following Microsoft’s announcement of the transition from Edge to Chromium, the publisher revealed that it could close the gap by supporting Chrome extensions in its Microsoft Edge browser. “We intend to support existing Chrome extensions,” wrote Kyle Pflug, Microsoft Edge project manager, on Reddit in response to users and developers looking for answers about this change.

Pflug did not specify how Microsoft plans to support the extensions, but, as Ed Bott noted, Microsoft would aim to allow all existing Chrome extensions to work without modification on the new Edge browser. However, developers will still need to pack the extensions for the Microsoft Store.

Microsoft Would Continue Support For EdgeHTML-based PWA and UWP

Pflug also answered Windows application developers looking for answers on what the change would mean for UWP (Universal Windows Platform) and PWA (Progressive Web Apps) applications if Microsoft abandoned the EdgeHTML navigation engine. Both application categories depend on EdgeHTML and may require revision if Microsoft ceases them completely.

Pflug states that existing UWP and PWA applications in the Microsoft Store will continue to use EdgeHTML and Microsoft’s Chakra JavaScript engine “without interruption.” Microsoft does not plan to add an interpretation layer to allow existing applications to run on the new rendering engine.

However, Microsoft plans to “offer a new WebView that applications can choose to use on the new rendering engine,” says the Redmond firm’s spokesperson. Microsoft also plans to allow PWAs to be installed on Edge from the Web, rather than limiting installations to the Microsoft Store as is currently the case for PWAs.

Honor 10 Lite Is An Attractive Entry-Level Smartphone

Honor announced its Honor 10 Lite a few days ago, and we can already offer you a small glimpse on it. The Chinese manufacturer’s entry-level smartphone has many advantages, being very attractive for its range. While Honor 10 was one of the most pleasant surprises of 2018, a few months later, the Chinese brand offers us a lighter version, namely the Honor 10 Lite.

The Honor 10 Lite relies heavily on its appearance as it’s boasting a shiny glass case and a curved design. We must admit that the Honor 10 Lite’s finishes are impeccable for a smartphone whose price should be between $200 and $300.

Honor 10 Lite Boasts A Large Screen With A Tiny Notch

Honor Lite 10 comes out with a 6.2-inch IPS LCD with a Full HD+ resolution (2340 x 1080 px). Not surprisingly, IPS technology does not display a contrast ratio comparable to that of an OLED screen, but the latter technology is costly. With nothing to complain about on regarding the resolution of the display, the Honor 10 Lite benefits from a display sufficiently perfected for everyday use.

One of the most common problems with entry-level and mid-range smartphones is the photo-video section. On its back, the Honor 10 Lite features a dual-camera setup that does not promise exceptional results. A second 2MP sensor supports a 13MP sensor with a f/1.8 aperture. At the front, Honor 10 Lite boasts a 24-MP selfies camera.

Honor 10 Lite Comes With A Kirin 710 SoC and 6 GB of RAM

Under the hood, the Honor 10 Lite model presents a Kirin 710 SoC, a chipset that relies on eight cores (4 x Cortex-A73 at 2.2 Hz and 4 x Cortex-A53 at 1.7 GHz) and a Mali-G51 MP4 GPU. We have already witnessed this SoC on the new Huawei P Smart Plus, and its performance was quite respectable.

Also, Honor 10 Lite would be available in versions in 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of storage variants. Additionally, Honor 10 Lite is powered by a 3,400-mAh battery which should ensure a satisfactory autonomy, at least on paper. The smartphone will launch with Android 9.0 Pie

For the moment, Honor has not announced a release date for the Honor 10 Lite model, but we should expect it to come out at around $250.
