Any smartphone owner used Google Maps or a similar app at least once in their life.

After all, the process is quite simple. Enter the name of the place and a handy map will come up, showing you the right direction every time. Most will argue that they will take you to that cool but remote restaurant in a matter of minutes and many believe that what we get is the best and fastest route.

While minor inconveniences like battery drain may happen at some point, a new study points out that extensive use of GPS apps can significantly diminish your wayfinding skills.

From a practical point of view, even if you are able to reach your destination in time you won’t remember the path. When you will have to go to the same location next time you will also need to use the app again since you will not be able to find the way on your own.

Use of landmarks

In the past people used landmarks in order to find their way from one place to another. A route consisted out of several landmarks that come in succession and people traveled from one landmark to another while also enjoying the unique sights it had to offer.

People that rely on the app are unlikely to look at their surroundings. Even if they were to start from the same location, they will struggle while traveling since the environment will seem unfamiliar.

Even if the use of navigation apps is quite popular in our days this is not necessarily a bad thing. Yes, people may not go from one place to another like they used to in the old days but they will arrive faster at their destination.

The ease of using these apps also encourages people to be more adventurous since the risk of getting lost has been minimized.

WhatsApp Update Download Available with Major Video Changes

WhatsApp will come with a new update soon that’s going to be a huge change for it. We all know how popular this app is – there are over 1.5 billion users every month. Only this year, the app has seen a lot of change, now that it has stickers and group video calling (and we know that’s just the tip of the iceberg).

A very good source, WABetaInfo – the news portal – has shown that the app is currently in the process of rolling out a new update. And it’s among the best ones so far.

It was also a post in Business Today, in which it was said that the feature is coming for the iOS beta users who have the app installed, the 2.18.102.5 version. This feature will allow its users to view video previews in a message notification bar.

As of yet, the notifications from Whatsapp are showed on screen, with the name of the sender and a short snapshot of the video. It’s not something bad if it’s something silly, such as a cute cat. But what if it’s not a cute cat, but something more problematic? Maybe it’s something embarrassing, and it would be so much more embarrassing if they want to preview the video around someone in public, or around a member of the family. The update will be soon available in the App Store.

There are other features in the plan, too

With this update, new features will come, too – 2 more additions, to be exact. There’s a new system of adding contacts. You know you can add contacts directly from the app, but apparently, this new feature will come with a redesigned look of the very same function.

Activating it

Once you have the Android Pie update on your device, it should take you less than a minute to turn on the Dark Mode. You need to swipe down to the top so that you can use the quick toggles. On the second page you will find the toggle for the Night mode. You can turn it on from there.

It is also possible to turn on the Dark Mode from settings. You have to open the Settings App and enable the feature from the Display menu. You can also turn it off easily, with just one tap.
