Honor 10 Lite To Come Out With Kirin 710 and Android 9 Pie

Huawei’s brand, Honor, officially presented its new smartphone, the Honor 10 Lite. The mid-range device boasts a Kirin 710 processor and would come out with Android 9 Pie.

Also, the Honor 10 Lite has a large 6.2-inch LCD screen with a waterdrop notch at the top. This small notched design is increasingly becoming a trend in the mid-range segment, lately. Inside the notch, the Chinese manufacturer opted for a 24-megapixel selfies camera. On its back, Honor 10 Lite boasts a dual-camera system made of one 13-megapixel lens and a second sensor of 2 megapixels.

The primary cameras are powered by artificial intelligence technology similar to the one we’ve already witnessed this year on other devices, including some of the Huawei.

Huawei Honor 10 Lite To Come Out With Kirin 710 and Android 9 Pie

The Kirin 710 processor is backed up by either 4 GB or 6GB of RAM, depending on the variant, and by an internal storage space of up to 128 GB. You can also extend the internal memory up to 512 GB via microSD. Overall, it is an impressive mid-range device.

For some consumers, however, the battery might represent the most significant challenge. Accordingly, Honor 10 Lite boasts a 3,000-mAh accumulator which is not the most powerful one available at the device’s price level. As Honor 10 Lite boasts a 6.2-inch LCD screen, the handset could have troubles in keeping a full day’s autonomy due to its weak battery.

Luckily, Honor 10 Lite has some of the features based on AI such as the adaptive battery, and adaptive brightness that might help us save a lot of battery. On the other hand, the device is not boasting a USB-C port, but it is equipped with a 3.5-mm jack for headphones, a feature many modern smartphones ditched. Huawei did not disclose when the Honor 10 Lite will roll out to the American and European markets, but we expect that to happen pretty soon.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150 Chipset Might Launch on December 4th

Qualcomm markets new mobile chips on a very regular basis. The next one should be unveiled on December 4th. It would undoubtedly be the Snapdragon 8150.

Qualcomm has not yet announced the new generation of its mobile chips, even though its competitors have already done so in recent weeks or months. The Huawei Kirin 980 is already integrated on some of the Chinese brand’s devices, as is the Apple A12 Bionic chip in the new iPhone 2018 models. Samsung also introduced its Exynos processor that will power its upcoming Galaxy S10 for the European market.

Qualcomm is the most prolific mobile chips manufacturer, usually rolling out very powerful chipsets, such as the Snapdragon 845. So, it’s the right time for Qualcomm to showcase its latest creation. According to a report, this announcement would take place on December 4.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150 Chipset Might Launch on December 4th

Although this chip succeeds the Snapdragon 845, it would be named Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150, according to various rumors. According to the very popular leaker, Ice Universe, who posted on Twitter, Qualcomm is planning to unveil this Snapdragon 8150 during the Qualcomm Technology Summit, in Hawaii, on December 4th.

Also, reportedly, the renowned chips manufacturer, Qualcomm, has already sent come invitations to the Chinese tech news portals and is preparing to do the same for the rest of the world, as soon as possible.

The upcoming Snapdragon 8150 will be manufactured in 7 nm FinFET technology by TSMC, precisely like the Huawei and Apple chipsets. It could embed an Octa-Core CPU only that it would boast a different configuration.

According to the rumors, this new Qualcomm chipset would replace Snapdragon 845, and it would become the processor to power the Android flagships of the next year, including the North American variant of the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Note 10, among others. In reality, S10 might be the first 2019 smartphone to benefit from the new Snapdragon 8150.

Android 9 Pie To Come To LG G7 ThinQ And LG V40

Android 9 Pie update for LG G7 and LG V40 is one of the most sought-after updates of the year for the users of the before-mentioned devices. Although the Korean firm LG has not been exceptionally punctual regarding the updates it rolled out, after the release of Android 8 Oreo for some of its handsets, the firm promised to launch following patches at a slightly faster pace.

Android 9 Pie to come to LG G7 ThinQ and LG V40

Now, LG G7 ThinQ and LG V40 would be the first to benefit from the Android 9 Pie update. These models are two of the Korean company’s flagships, so it’s not surprising that these are the ones chosen for the deployment of the new upgrade.

The first to receive the expected Android 9 Pie update will be the LG G7 ThinQ. The company has launched a public beta program in Korea which commenced yesterday and is open to any LG G7 ThinQ user who wants to enter into the program, regardless of the mobile phone operator they work with.

Currently, LG runs a beta program to test the Android 9 Pie update for LG G7 and LG V40

With this beta program, LG wants to detect and solve the bugs and errors that may exist in the Android 9 Pie update for LG G7 before the upgrade rolls out to a broader public. Samsung has done the same with the upgrade to Android 9 Pie for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus.

At the moment, the company did not disclose when the Android 9 Pie update for LG G7 ThinQ and LG V40 would come out, depending on how long the beta program will last and what bugs the testers will find. Thus, it can be expected that Android 9 Pie for LG G7 and LG V40 would start landing on these smartphones between late December and early January.

Artificial Intelligence Startup “Silk Labs” Acquired By Apple

Apple has just bought yet another company, whose name is Silk Labs. It is a startup company specialized in artificial intelligence. According to information emerged on several tech news portals, this small company is able to make AI software light enough to integrate into consumer equipment.

The artificial intelligence is already a significant part of many products, including smartphones. Almost every tech company out there is struggling to develop better AI systems for their purposes so that Apple couldn’t keep away from this race.

While the Cupertino-based company is already working on its own artificial intelligence systems, now they decided to buy Silk Labs, a small startup specialized in producing software and hardware products based on artificial intelligence.

Apple Acquired “Silk Labs” Startup To Reinforce Its Artificial Intelligence Department

Founded in 2015 by three former Mozilla employees (Chris Gal, Jones, and Michael Vines), Silk Labs is a small startup with only 12 employees. The company explains that it “aims to bring visual and audio intelligence to connected products.” Silk Labs is primarily working on image and sound analyzing software based on AI, which has the particularity of working directly on a product, without an Internet connection.

Silk Labs has developed several scenarios in which its services can be useful. To give you an idea, the company has devised an intercom system that can identify the person ringing the doorbell (if the person is already pre-identified, of course), or automatically disable/activate an alarm based on the face the AI system detected.

As always, the Cupertino-based tech giant firm did not wish to comment on the reasons for this new acquisition. The same applies to the amount Apple paid for this acquisition, both companies keeping that information secret. But given the size of the start-up, the price of this purchase would not be extremely high.

UC Browser vs. Google Chrome – The Speed and Privacy Battle of Browsers

Choosing the right browser is important because it can impact your entire Internet experience. Google Chrome and UC browser are two of the most popular choices. Today we are going to place them side by side and see what are the advantages and disadvantages for each one.

Security

UC Browser did have some problems in the past. For example, back in 2015 it was discovered that UC Browser was leaking private user information. Even last month there was a UC Browser scandal after Google banned the browser from Play Store because it allowed the installation of Alibaba’s other apps.

Meanwhile, there were no major security issues when it comes to Google Chrome. We should also add that Incognito mode is available on both browsers, but Google Chrome also has a safe browsing feature, which means that users are not able to open malicious URLs.

Saving data

If you don’t want to waste your date you will be glad to hear that both browsers have data saver functions. Once you turn it on, these browsers will send you compressed versions of the pages that you want to access.

Customization

Both browsers allow you to change the text sizes once you access a web page. In UC Browser you can use the volume buttons to scroll down a page, and you can also use a typing assistant for the phrases that you use often. Meanwhile, you can’t customize the mobile version of Google Chrome.

Download manager

If we compare the download manager, UC browser appears to be the winner. Both browsers allow you to pause and resume your download task, but UC also lets you choose where to save the downloaded files. You can also choose the maximum number of files that should be downloaded at a time.
