Its price would be around $700, and it will be marketed in both 64 and 256 GB versions.

The upcoming iPhone Xs and Xs Plus will boast the new 7-nm A12 CPU

In-display Touch ID Won’t Come On iPhone and iPad Anytime Soon, Android Keeping The Advantage Over iOS

From now and then, rumors about a possible implementation of in-display Touch ID on iPhone and iPad emerge on the Internet. However, since iPhone X came out with Face ID, most hopes regarding a fingerprint sensor beneath the display in Apple devices died off. But it seems that Apple is thinking about that, only that it won’t come anytime soon, in the meantime Android keeping the advantage over the iOS.

And this information comes from a trustworthy source of Apple rumors, the KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who recently stated that the in-display fingerprint sensor wouldn’t come on Apple devices anytime shortly. However, he did hint that this technology, which is increasingly common on Android, would eventually come on iPhone and iPad.

As for the “fingerprint sensor on display” feature on Android, Ming-Chi Kuo thinks the technology will skyrocket by 500% in 2019 as more and more manufacturers will implement it on the handsets they’ll release next year.

iPhone and iPad won’t get an in-display Touch ID anytime soon, Android keeping the advantage over iOS in this regard

While it’s absolutely clear that the iPhone XS device, planned to be presented today, September 6th, won’t feature a “fingerprint sensor on display,” Ming-Chi Kuo also said that the technology wouldn’t come for iPhone and iPad 2019 models, neither.

According to the analyst, the challenge of implementing such a fingerprint reader in OLED displays is the biggest obstacle for this technology to be adopted much broadly. Ming-Chi Kuo also stated that while Face ID technology is indeed useful, an in-display Touch ID on iPhone and iPad would be better in some situations and would provide a more straightforward and faster unlock of the Apple devices.

On the other hand, Face ID is not always working, so Apple might think to add a fingerprint sensor on display to give users more options. But, unfortunately, as Ming-Chi Kuo said, in-display Touch ID won’t come to iPhone and iPad anytime soon, so Android will keep its advantage for iOS in this regard, for the time being.

iPhone 8 Devices Have A Severe Problem At Their Logic Board, Warns Apple

Apple, which spent its last months teasing us with its upcoming iPhone 2018 models, now warns customers about a severe problem affecting the iPhone 8 devices. Accordingly, some models of the iPhone 8 series come with “logic boards with a manufacturing defect” that causes the faulty handsets to “experience unexpected restarts, a frozen screen, or won’t turn on.”

But Apple announced that this issue is only affecting a small percentage of its iPhone 8 models, especially those handset manufactured between September 2017 and March 2018 and sold in the US, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, and New Zealand.

Luckily, you can easily find out if your iPhone 8 is affected by a faulty logic board by just typing in your device’s serial number in the Apple checker you can find here, and the so-called “iPhone 8 Logic Board Replacement Program” will check to see if your handset is at risk. If it is one of the faulty devices, Apple will fix it for free.

Apple pledged to fix the iPhone 8 devices with manufacturing defect on logic boards for free, but not every model is eligible

While the severe problem reported by Apple for a series of iPhone 8 models is the company’s fault, not every affected iPhone 8 is suitable for a cost-free fix.

“If your iPhone 8 has any damage which impairs the ability to complete the repair, such as a cracked screen, that issue will need to be resolved prior to the service. In some cases, there may be a cost associated with the additional repair,” warns Apple.

So, be careful, because the Apple’s repairing team might not tolerate even the smallest crack in your iPhone’s chassis. On the other hand, if your device is in flawless condition, physically, when you get it back from the Apple, you might retrieve it with the latest iOS version which may not be something you’d like.

Apple Will Demand All App Store Apps To Link To Privacy Policies

Apple notified App Store apps developers to place links to their privacy policies, as shown by 9to5Mac. Until now Apple required that only for those subscription-based apps, but with this new decision, Apple extended this guideline to all App Store apps.

However, it’s not explicitly stated if the already-launched apps’ devs have to add links to privacy policy, but they should do it as soon as they release new updates. On the other hand, according to 9to5Mac, the developers must tell users how and what data the apps gather, as well as how the data is going to be used. The devs also have to detail how users unsubscribe and/or delete their private data.

The new guidelines will come in place on October 3rd, and Apple stated that the already-existing apps on the App Store that don’t show a privacy policy link are not obliged to add one until they roll out an update after October 3rd. Otherwise, apps that won’t comply with the new rules would be removed.

Apple adopts new privacy policy guidelines for App Store apps due to the recent issues regarding private data leaks

With all that Cambridge Analytica and Facebook scandal that emerged in March and the adoption of the GDPR across the European Union, protecting users’ private data has become crucial for developers and tech companies.

In order to avoid any possible issues, Apple adopted this new regulation regarding privacy and is now forcing App Store apps to add links to their devs privacy policies that explain to users what data the apps collect and how the information is used. However, Apple is not demanding this from already-existing apps if they don’t add new updates.

As mentioned, the new guidelines regarding privacy policies for the new App Store apps will come into effect on October 3rd.

Apple Store Security Vulnerability Exposed 77 Million PIN Codes Of T-Mobile Clients In The US

A security vulnerability on the Apple Store website has exposed the PIN codes of over 77 million T-Mobile customers, but it didn’t affect Verizon, Sprint, or AT&T users.

The security flaw was uncovered by IT security researchers Phobia and Nicholas Ceraolo, who also discovered a related vulnerability on the Asurion phone company’s site, which disclosed the PIN codes of AT&T clients.

Apple addressed the security flaw and showed gratitude to the IT specialists that founded the issue

Apple and Asurion have since corrected the vulnerabilities of their websites. Apple opted not to comment further on the current situation, but told BuzzFeed News it is “very grateful to the researchers who found the flaw.” The PIN code, which is private, is an extra security feature used by numerous operators in the US.

The mobile device PIN codes are the ultimate defense line for a cellular account, as carriers ask for the code to verify changes made in accounts.

Apple Store security vulnerability exposed 77 million PIN codes of T-Mobile customers in the US

That is a big issue for those 77 million T-Mobile customers, mainly as SIM hacking, that uses social engineering to get technical assistance personnel to move a customer’s phone number to a new SIM card, is getting increasingly common because of the large number of accounts, such as bank, e-mail, social networks, and many more, linked to a phone number.

On the other hand, the other affected website, belonging to Asurion, also tackled the issue.

“Asurion takes the customer security and privacy very seriously, and as such we have an ongoing, layered security program in place to prevent security issues. We are investigating the researcher’s concerns, but have immediately implemented measures to address these concerns to ensure customers’ accounts are safe again,” stated one of the Asurion’s spokespersons.

On the other hand, T-Mobile also faced a recent data breach in which aggressors could access “certain data.”
