Huawei Mate X Foldable Smartphone To Come Out In June

A new report published by a reliable source claims that Huawei plans to release its foldable smartphone June. The device is named Huawei Mate X, and the basic model will cost $2,580.

A Chinese retail site listed the device at one point but it seems that the entrance has been removed. The competition is hard at work, and the anticipated Samsung Galaxy Fold will be arriving on the market towards the end of April. Samsung’s device is quite pricy at $1,980, but it is considerably cheaper in comparison to Huawei’s offering.

The Huawei Mate X will offer support for 5G technology, a feature which is provided by the Kirin 980 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage space. Users can expand the available memory with the help of a memory card with a capacity of up to 256GB. Those who wish to use a memory card will have to forfeit one of the two SIM trays since expandable memory can only be used in tandem with the NM storage card offered by Huawei.

Huawei Mate X foldable smartphone to sport two powerful batteries

Huawei Mate X’s power will be provided by two batteries which offer a combined capacity of 4,500 mAh. The SuperCharge protocol will allow users to charge their device from 0 to 85% in 30 minutes. Owners will be able to unfold the device into a lavish 8-inch tablet.

When the device is unfolded, the front and back panels will turn into operative screens which can be used efficiently. Mate X owners will be able to take impressive selfies by using the three-sensor camera created in collaboration with Leica.

Some voices claim that the first generation of foldable devices will face some problems. One of the questions which haven’t been answered by Huawei involves the maximum number of folds which can take place before the display will be compromised. Huawei has noted that durability and usability are key aspects, but it remains to be seen if the device will manage to impress potential customers when it becomes available.

Huawei’s Foldable Smartphone With 5G Connectivity To Come Out At MWC 2019

According to GSMarena, Huawei has presented in a private event with representatives of telecommunication companies and Korean government officials, a prototype of a folding smartphone with 5G connectivity.

Huawei plans to unveil its folding phone with 5G connectivity at MWC 2019

While Samsung is already working on its own foldable phone, the Galaxy F, while it’s developing a reliable 5G-compatible smartphone, Huwaei is, apparently, already possessing a working folding phone with 5G connectivity. The Chinese brand, reportedly, presented its innovation before significant telecommunication companies and South Korean government officials.

According to a Korean government spokesman, Huawei is working on its folding phone prototype that would not only be a foldable smartphone but will also be able to connect to the future fastest mobile network – 5G. Huawei’s final goal would be to present its new device at the next year’s Mobile World Congress, held in Barcelona.

Huawei’s first foldable smartphone with 5G might first come out in the US and Europe

According to the leaks, Huawei’s upcoming 5G foldable smartphone would boast an 8-inch screen which, when folded, would come down to a 5-inch display, so it would be a little bigger than the future Samsung Galaxy F model which would measure about 4.6 inches when in phone mode and 7.3 inches when in unfolded, respectively. In this case, the manufacturer of the display would be BOE, a company based in Beijing and R&D centers around the world.

Although the Chinese brand has decided to present its folding phone with 5G connectivity to the Korean officials, Huawei Korea has not revealed additional details on when this new foldable smartphone would arrive in stores. For now, only the United States and Europe are ready for 5G networks, so it is very likely that this mobile will be sold first in these regions.

World’s First Foldable Smartphone, FlexiPai, Announced By A Chinese Tech Company

The foldable smartphones concept is now a reality. Ahead of Samsung and Huawei, who also pursue the same goal, the less-known Chinese firm Royole has presented yesterday its FlexPai folding phone, a device with a flexible screen device that can open like a book to lengthen up to 7.8 inches, a size close to the format similar to that of some low- and mid-range tablet.

That is the first foldable smartphone in the world, and will officially arrive in the North American market in December this year, marking a new achievement in the phone industry made by a Chinese company. For several years now, one of the most exciting challenges big technology brands faced has been to successfully achieve a system for folding touchscreen displays of smartphones without losing the functionality of the device.

The next step is to make the tablet format foldable so that it can be easily carried in the trouser pocket. For this purpose, this peculiar technology firm, founded by researchers at Stanford University in 2012, claims to have created a “light and flexible” screen for smartphones. That means that once folded, it has the dimensions of a “regular” mobile, but with an excessive thickness.

Chinese tech company Royole announced the first foldable smartphone in the world

When stretched, on the other hand, it becomes a tablet of about 7.6-millimeters thick and a 7.8-inches screen. According to its developers, the first foldable smartphone in the world can be folded more than 200,000 times before any damage can occur.

This FlexiPai folding phone comes before Samsung’s Galaxy X. On the other hand, Apple has also patented its own foldable screens concepts for smartphones, as well as LG, one of the largest producers of displays, and Huawei. This FlexPai, however, runs a slightly modified version of the Android operating system to be able to work in both formats.

On a technical level, the device comes with a dual-camera system of two 16 and 20 megapixels sensors, Snapdragon 855, under the hoods, and 6 GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. There will also be a more performant variant with 8GB of RAM with 512GB of storage.

Huawei 5G Folding Phone To Compete With The Samsung Galaxy X in 2019

Since the first rumors emerged in July, many have talked about the Huawei 5G folding phone. Now, Huawei officially announced the coming of the foldable smartphone during the Mate 20 presentation event. The company CEO Richard Yu confirmed that the Chinese manufacturer is indeed developing a bendy device to compete with Samsung Galaxy X in 2019.

“We are working on foldable phones. Foldable 5G phones” stated Richard Yu, Huawei CEO.

However, it is not the first time the Chinese tech company talked about its folding phone plans and the desire to release 5G smartphones. But it is the first time when a Huawei official linked the two devices publicly.

Also, Huawei invested considerable sums of money in the development of 5G networks around the world but faced a blockage from huge markets like the US and Australia, precisely due to those countries’ government which accused Huawei of following the agenda of the Chinese government.

Huawei 5G Folding Phone To Compete With The Samsung Galaxy X in 2019

Previous discussions on the Huawei 5G folding phone suggested that the foldable smartphone might come out in 2019. Also, Samsung plans to launch its Galaxy X, its own bendy phone, in mid-2019. Accordingly, the two companies would directly compete for an emerging market which has already raised the interest of many customers, as well as other producers.

It will be exciting to see how this competition between Huawei and Samsung would end, eventually, and which of the two upcoming foldable smartphones will be better. At first glance, we would say that the future Galaxy X promises more than the Huawei folding phone, but, on the other hand, the Chinese manufacturer has always surprised us.

In the meantime, Huawei launched its new Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, and Mate X devices, the latter being a gaming smartphone that reportedly would compete with Nintendo Switch.

Samsung To Present Its Foldable Smartphone By The End of The Year

According to the CEO of Samsung’s mobile division, DJ Koh, the South Korean tech giant plans on presenting its foldable smartphone by the end of this year, confirming the many rumors saying this type of next-gen handset device is under development.

DJ Koh discussed the upcoming foldable phone to CNBC and at IFA 2018 Berlin

In an interview for CNBC, DJ Koh stated “it’s time to deliver” the first Samsung foldable smartphone after a survey conducted by the South Korean giant company revealed that there is indeed a significant market for this type of devices. Samsung’s mobile division CEO did not offer details on how the upcoming foldable device would function but gave some details on its design.

“You can use most of the uses on foldable status. But when you need to browse or see something, then you may need to unfold it. But even unfolded, what kind of benefit does that give compared to the tablet? If the unfolded experience is the same as the tablet, why would they [consumers] buy it?” asked DJ Koh at the IFA 2018 in Berlin.

“So every device, every feature, every innovation should have a meaningful message to our end customer. So when the end customer uses it [the Samsung foldable smartphone], they think ‘wow, this is the reason Samsung made it,'” Koh added.

Samsung foldable smartphone to be revealed this year

The new Samsung foldable smartphone would be similar to a flip phone, a very trendy phone design more than a decade ago. But what’s new in this one is that Samsung is designing a screen that bends that would not need hinges and connectors to connect the two parts of the phone as in the flip phones.

According to DJ Koh, the CEO of the Samsung’s mobile division, the first Samsung foldable smartphone would be revealed this year, in November, at the Samsung Developer Conference in San Francisco.
