Will an iOS 11.4 Jailbreak Happen? A Research that Works for Alibaba Find Two Bugs

Right now, iOS 11 users have only CoolStar’s Electra tool to help them in reliably jailbreaking. This software works with iOS11.3.1 and so on, until iOS 11.4 beta 3. There are a lot of people who are anxiously waiting for a jailbreak tool that will work for the 11.4. However, the future doesn’t look so bright, although a security researcher kept in high praise keeps our hopes alive.

Enter the Spark

A security researcher working for Alibaba, called Min ‘Spark’ Zheng held a presentation during the Defense Conference 26. This is a hacking conference which happens regularly in Las Vegas and Mr. Zheng took the opportunity to showcase two new bugs which occur in the iOS 11.4. It didn’t take long for the ‘Spark’ to ignite the audience and so we see a blaze of speculation about a possible iOS 11.4 jailbreak release.

It is possible that we will see it happen as soon as iOS 12 hits the stores sometime next month. The complete presentation, called Fasten your seatbelts: We are escaping iOS 11 sandbox is available on GitHub and it suggests that the presented bugs were reported to Apple in August. After two patches, they are still there.

Min Zheng is a security researcher so we might not see anything from him. However, there is possible that someone else will take advantage of this vulnerability.

Azad at last

A talented developer by the name of Brandon Azad is expected to share its piece about the potential jailbreak sometime next month, at a conference in Hong Kong. There, he will demonstrate how to use one of the bugs in iOS 11.4, one which Apple supposedly fixed in iOS 11.4.1. While we don’t know for sure if it’s going to happen, the iOS 11.4 jailbreak isn’t impossible to happen.

iOS 11.3.1 Electra Jailbreak Re-Enabled

Several jailbreak users complained that they could not re-enable their Electra Jailbreak. In this article, I will show you how is possible to restore iOS 11.3.1 Electra Jailbreak solution, thanks to iCrackUriDevice from BestTechInfo. According to him, this solution is up to 90% reliable and solves out all the iOS 11.3.1 Electra Jailbreak issues. The solution also works for iOS 11.4 jailbreak.

At first, it’s essential that your iOS device is already running an Electra jailbreak solution.

Re-enable iOS 11.3.1 Electra jailbreak

If you’re running iOS 11.3.1 Electra jailbreak but something goes wrong, and you want to re-enable the solution, here are the steps to follow in order to restore it:

  • Go to Open Settings -> General -> iDevice Storage and cancel and delete any pending updates via OTA;
  • Put your device into Airplane Mode and reboot it;
  • Once your device has successfully rebooted, let it on the Home screen for more than one minute;
  • When the minute is up, open and run the iOS 11.3.1 Electra jailbreak;
  • Go to multitasking force Electra to close, then restart the solution and tap on “Enable Jailbreak”;

Electra jailbreak re-enabling on iOS 11.4

Instead of running the Multipath version of iOS 11.3.1 Electra jailbreak, the iOS 11.4 demands the use of the VFS version of Electra, a fact which makes the restoration of the jailbreak solution trickier.

Thus, keep in mind that the following steps should only be taken if you’re running iOS 11.4 or the before-mentioned iOS 11.3.1 Electra jailbreak re-enabling is not correctly functioning for you.

Follow the next steps to re-enable iOS 11.4 Electra jailbreak:

  • Under Settings -> Siri & Search section, disable Siri;
  • Under Settings -> [User Name] -> iCloud section, turn off the Find My iPhone function;
  • In Settings -> Touch ID/Face ID & Passcode, disable the Passcode option;
  • Follow the steps presented above for the iOS 11.3.1 Electra jailbreak restoration;

iOS 11.4 and 12 Jailbreak Beta Demonstrated in a Recent Video

Soon after a footage demonstrating a jailbreak of iOS 11.4 appeared online, another video shook the virtual environment. Although the subject is similar, this time, next to the beta version of iOS 11.4, viewers witnessed a successful jailbreak of the beta version of iOS 12.

Just like when the previous initiative appeared, some people were curious to see the video, but now, since they had seen an iOS 11.4 jailbreak before, the demonstration wasn’t such a big surprise. After this, people are still wondering what will follow, but nobody can anticipate the tendency and how will Apple react to this.

The video was posted by the security researcher Qixun Zhao. The expert is also known as SorryMyBad in the online environment and he made the footage public on a social network. The whole idea behind his initiative is to perform a safari based jailbreak of the beta versions of iOS 12 and iOS 11.4. What made it even more interesting is the fact that it was performed remotely.

After he posted the video on Youku, Zhao used Twitter to announce it. So far, we don’t know if he intends to make the jailbreak public, but if he does, the event won’t happen before the official release of the final version of iOS 12. Then, the operating system becomes available and the public would know what to expect.

What will follow

At present, people are waiting for an Electra jailbreak of iOS 11.3.1. The author, CoolStar, announced that it’s on its way and it will arrive soon. In addition, Jonathan Levin announced his plans to update former versions of LiberiOS and LiberTV. His intention was also promoted on social media.

If you are curious to see the video and want to find out more about the safari based jailbreak, you can find it here:

iOS 11.4 Jailbreak Video Appeared Online

Recently, social networks were overfloating with news about a jailbreak of iOS 11.4. Nobody had expected to hear about this, but it happened and iOS users are wondering what will follow. The whole fuss was started by the hacker Richard Zhu when he posted a video demonstrating what a successful iOS 11.4 jailbreak looks like.

Most people couldn’t believe it at first, but during the footage they saw how it works. Although there wasn’t any information on the exploit used for the experiment, viewers witnessed how Cydia installed on an iPhone 7 and how it Terminal got it root access.

Another mystery is wrapped around the question whether a developer account is necessary to accomplish the jailbreak. Also, experts in the field of iOS are not sure if and how Zhu is planning to use his ”work” or if he intends to release the jailbreak. Most likely he will keep it for personal use or he will sell it to a bounty program with large pockets, like he did in other cases.

On the other hand, developer CoolStar has been working on another jailbreak. Called Electra jailbreak of iOS 11.3.1, the creation will soon be available on iOS 11.2-11.2.6. CoolStar also mentioned the fact that their jailbreak won’t require any developer account. This is good news, considering the fact that such account can worth $99.

For more news on this subject you can follow iClarified on social networks. You can find it on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or RSS. Only by following their updates you will be the first to know what ”they’re cooking”.

In case you still have questions or doubts maybe you haven’t seen the video so far. Watch it and maybe you will be prepared for what’s coming.

Apple is doing its best to keep hackers from cracking iOS, but this isn’t stopping the jailbreaking community from developing tools. Although, developers such as Ian Beer keep discovering exploits and unveiling them to the entire jailbreak community.

iOS 11.4 Successfully Jailbroken

Despite Apple’s best efforts, hacker Richard Zhu who is famous for creating jailbreak tools managed to open up iOS 11.4 The hacker posted a short video in which he showed an Apple-made machine running on a jailbroken iOS 11.4.

The device used by Richard Zhu in order to provide proof that he managed to crack iOS 11.4 is an iPhone 7 that featured Cydia. Not just that, but the iPhone 7 had root access via Terminal. The interesting thing about this jailbreak is that Richard Zhu doesn’t want to unveil what exploit he used. On the downside of things, Richard Zhu has yet to announce if he plans to launch the iOS 11.4 jailbreak to the general public.
