iOS 12.1 Developer Beta 5 Rolled Out By Apple, Along With tvOS 12.1 and watchOS 5.1 Betas

Apple commenced its fifth testing phase for its iOS 12.1, tvOS 12.1, and watchOS 5.1. Accordingly, the Cupertino-based company launched iOS 12.1 Developer Beta 5, along with the Beta versions for tvOS 12.1 and watchOS 5.1. All those developers who would want to test the new betas can either download the installation files from the Apple Download Center or as an OTA update on the Apple devices already accepted in the Beta testing program.

Also, the iOS 12.1 Public Beta 5, along with the betas for tvOS 12.1 and watchOS 5.1, would come out in a few days, most probably on Wednesday, and it would be downloadable on Apple Beta Software Program website. On the other hand, iOS 12.1 Developer Beta 5 is already available with the build number 16B5089b.

It seems that the upcoming iOS 12.1 would come out with some new features but, mostly, it would only bring some improvements of those already existing in the iOS 12 version. Also, the upcoming tvOS 12.1 and watchOS 5.1 would also come out with new changes.

iOS 12.1 Developer Beta 5 Rolled Out By Apple – What Would Be Different in iOS 12.1?

Even though iOS 12 ditched the Group FaceTime, despite being present in the betas for the current version of iOS, the function seems that it would make its comeback in iOS 12.1, according to previous beta releases. Group FaceTime would support up to 32 people in a conversation at the same time and would also boast support for Memoji.

Additionally, the upcoming iOS 12.1 would add more than 70 new Emojis and would fix the reported iPhone XS and XS Max charging issues. Also, the forthcoming version would fix some bugs and improve security.

Besides, the upcoming tvOS 12.1 version would come out with some bug fixes and security enhancements. On the other hand, the new watchOS 5.1, similarly to the iOS 12.1, would come out with support for Group FaceTime, along with some improvements and features.

iPhone XS and XS Max Charging Issue To Be Fixed In The Upcoming iOS 12.1 Update

We reported a few days ago that some iPhone XS and XS Max users complain about a charging issue affecting the before-mentioned Apple devices. According to the initial reports on this problem, there are no viable solutions to solve it out entirely. However, now Apple decided to tackle this issue which seems to be software-related. In that regard, iPhone XS and XS Max charging problem would be solved out in the upcoming iOS 12.1 update.

Recently, right after Apple released its three new iPhone 2018 models, users reported an intriguing charging issue affecting iPhone XS and XS Max. According to the reports coming from users, these two models present the problem only when connected to a wall power outlet with the screen off. On the other hand, wireless charging works flawlessly.

However, the issue has been related to a software error, so Apple found the bug and fixed it. The new version of iOS 12.1 would tackle this issue on iPhone XS and XS Max phones.

The Upcoming iOS 12.1 Update will fix the iPhone XS and XS Max Charging Issue

Apple rolled out its new iOS 12 along with the release of iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR. The new Apple OS, however, seems to be the culprit for the XS and XS Max charging issue. Luckily, Apple announced that the upcoming iOS 12.1 version would fix that problem. But the Cupertino-based tech giant did not announce when the new iOS update will hit the market.

What’s certain is that Apple will release an iOS 12.1 Beta soon which comes out with a fix for the charging issue on iPhone XS and XS Max. But a beta, as we already know, is just a testing version of the final product and, although it contains some improvements and bug fixes, it may also come out with other issues and unstable behavior.

So, to be sure your experience with a new iPhone XS and XS Max is maximized, you should wait for the final iOS 12.1 version to roll out.

New iOS 12.1 Seems to Confirm the Incoming iPad Pro

With the recent release of Apple’s iOS 12.1, we were able to learn more about its new edition called Memoji syncing. This, in turn, seems to hint at the inevitable debut of a new iPad with a TrueDepth camera system, which is expected to take place in autumn, this year. Since only iPhone supports Memoji, it would make sense to extend this feature to iPads, allowing users to sync the characters on both devices. But that’s not all, as iOS 12.1 has given us another clue pointing at the imminent release of new iPad models later this year.

iPad 2018 Fall has been observed in the Setup app

The Setup app provides us with some kind of confirmation of the upcoming iPads’ debut at some point in the autumn, as a new identifier “iPad2018Fall” has been found in the assets that the Setup app is using. The reference to the upcoming iPad was missing in the previous version of the app, which only mentioned iPhones of 2018. This clearly shows that Apple wants to teach the future owners of 2018 iPad how to use the new gestures before they even purchase the new device.

What else do we know about the 2018 iPads

This new identifier pretty much confirms the release of new iPads this autumn, most likely in October, when Apple will host an event presenting the new iPads and Macs. The earlier predictions were usually mentioning September as a month when we will finally see new iPads, but now we know that they were not correct.

In addition to the already mentioned Memoji sync feature, the experts expect the introduction of landscape support for Face ID. Moreover, the Pros version of the new iPad will have USB-C connectivity rather than Lightning, according to a recent report.
