iOS 12 Jailbreak for the iPhone XS Public Release with New Improvements

Earlier this month, Apple released to the public the new iOS 12. Since this occurred, hopes for a new jailbreak too for this latest piece of software began to rise inside the jailbreak community. Because Apple continued during these past few years to work on tightening the security around its software, jailbreaking has unfortunately become more and more difficult.

In a recent tweet, Min Zheng claimed that team Pangu succeeded to perform an iOS 12 jailbreak on the fresh iPhone XS. Considering the fact that the iPhone XS has been around for only about a week, this news took everyone by surprise. Min Zheng works for Alibaba, where he gets a salary as a security researcher.

According to the things featured in the aforementioned tweet, Pangu managed to achieve the iOS 12 jailbreak on the new Apple device by choosing to bypass the PAC mitigation which can be found on the A12 Bionic chipset. This processor has been incorporated in this year’s Apple models, running the iPhone XR, the iPhone XS and the XS Max as well.

Despite this relevant information, Zheng included in his tweet a couple of screenshots that show the root access on the iPhone XS, confirming what he said about the jailbreak. Since this was possible to perform, then it means that the same iOS 12 jailbreaks could be done on the iPhone XS Max as well, at least in theory, since both models are using the same kind of chipset.

It is quite possible that the reason why team Pangu didn’t already did this on the iPhone XS Max is simply that they didn’t gained access to the device yet. However, with the team’s history of putting jailbreaks in the public domain, this remains a matter of time.

Ali Security Jailbreak for iOS 12 is Here

Ali Security showed off the untethered iOS 12 Jailbreak on Video as a Proof-of-Concept

During the past few years, the jailbreak scene has not been as crowded as before because Apple developed enough new feature in order to make us change our minds regarding a jailbreak. However, sometimes you can see a jailbreak appearing out of nowhere, and the semi-untethered ones are super common.

The semi-untethered jailbreak requires you that everytime you restart your phone you need to jailbreak it too again. Contrary to this, the untethered jailbreak stays the same no matter what you do. Ali Security has shown this on an iPhone X running on the iOS 12’s latest version. You might think that Apple has already done a lot on this phone but…it is never enough to satisfy everybody.

This video might be good news, but it still does not mean that the untethered iOS 12 jailbreak can happen every time. It will be hard to jailbreak our phones because for sure Ali Security will not go ahead and release all the tools we need to do so good luck with that. Besides that, the vulnerability they used to get the iPhone jailbroken might have already been identified and will be remediated along with the iOS 12.1 beta that Apple will soon release.

However, if this has a chance to happen and we will have that jailbreak released publicly, it might take a very awkward turn. That would happen because Apple touts better security with every single major iOS release. Well, at least the jailbreak lovers have something to hope for and just because we are a little pessimist it does not mean that their hopes will not become a reality and that they will not get their beloved jailbreak. What happens, happens.

The iOS 12 Jailbreak is Nowhere after Alibaba’s Cybersecurity Division

The cybersecurity division of Alibaba suggests that iOS 12 has been successfully jailbroken not so long after the new system upgrade got released to the public by Apple.

They got a video posted on their Weibo account which shows how the team is launching a jailbreak app on an iPhone X which runs on iOS12. After that, the phone was restarted by the team. Then it was a pause and a pop-up screen saying the phone is pwned appeared which was a confirmation that the jailbreak remained in effect. The iPhone from the video unlocks without the use of Face ID or a passcode.

Pandora Lab is the team which says they want to work with Apple and patches the flaw.

For the newbies out there, jailbreaking means that you hack into iOS and from then on you can install any app even those who are not approved by Apple. In the early days of Apple is was very popular as it offers merely users the possibility to do what they want with their phones and play the games they want.

As iOS started to get better at security and the App Store came into the plan, the jailbreaking suffered a rapid downturn. Hacker Nicholas Allegra declared last year that jailbreaking is no longer alive. At the moment it is just a game for white hat hackers who probe for vulnerabilities.

IOS 12 has got its own new set of security features as well. For example, if you have not unlocked your iPhone for over an hour, it will not let any USB-connected accessories make do something to your phone and lock them out. This was designed in order for brute force attacks to be discouraged, where the account is compromised after a hacker keeps entering potential passwords.

iOS 12 Jailbreak Security Exploit Discovered by a New Team

Every single member of the jailbreak community can not wait for the iOS 12 jailbreak to finally be launched. Many experts said that the iOS 12 is not as easy to jailbreak as its predecessors, but a recent report says otherwise. The read and write privilege along with the security exploit of the iOS 12 jailbreak were discovered.

The Tweet that changed it all

Simone Ferrini, a security researcher’s name on Twitter, confirmed that he and the team which he works with were able to pen iOS 12 beta. The latest beta release is beta 12 ahead of the forthcoming Golden Master seed of iOS 12, according to Redmond Pie.

“Kernel Memory R/W” was also achieved, according to the same tweet which underlines the massive amount of work put into this task. What you must take into account though is that the team has not discovered a full and final jailbreak for the iOS 12 platform of Apple. However, it gives us a hint on how the possible jailbreak for the iOS 12 might look like for the public.

Juicy detail

We must also mention the fact that other two security researchers and developers are said to be part of this process as they were tagged in the tweet. TRUEL IT Company is the company tagged in the Twitter biography of Ferrini, and it looks like these two members of the team are connected with it as well. The tweet also featured a video which describes the work that has been taken on. An iPhone connected to a terminal session is shown in the video which also confirmes that what the team is claiming was precisely accomplished.

In case you want to try this jailbreak for yourself, you still need to wait a while.

iOS 12 Jailbreak Solution Updates – New Security Measures

iOS 12 is less than two weeks away from the official launch, but new information today makes it clear that people waiting for jailbreak solutions should have a lot of patience.

According to a developer who also does IT security research, iOS 12 implements new security measures against jailbreak solutions. iOS 12 has many new hurdles placed by Apple to prevent the launch of public jailbreak solutions, but exploitation remains possible.

iOS 12 has already been jailbroken by some who have 0day exploits, which Apple does not know about, but the release of jailbreak solutions is unlikely, at least as far as it is concerned.

iOS 12 will Harden the Launch of Jailbreak Solutions

iOS 12 had announced by the people behind Electra software the possible release of a jailbreak solution, but nothing went further than simple statements. However, considering that we have a jailbreak solution for iOS 11 from the back of the Electra, it’s quite possible for iOS 12 to be offered at least one new jailbreak solution.

– symbols are completely stripped in the iOS 12 kernelcache, will make patchfinders harder to make

Apple is implementing in every new version of iOS a hindrance to slowing the development of jailbreak solutions, but with iOS 12 things seem to be worse than in the past.
